  1. 1988 14th Season Welcome all to our 14th season! We would like to apologize for failing to release a story about this year's newest addition: Emerald Bay! Emerald Bay is an extension of Atlantic Avenue and offers families two new attractions, Millipede and Washout! Emerald Bay is set next to one of Charleston Gardens Amusement Park's many lakes, providing a great backdrop to family fun. Millipede is a family-sized coaster that's fun for the entire family! See you at the park!
  2. 1987 13th Season It's been a fast season. Perhaps because as the park grows, so do my responsibilities. Who knows! We're very excited about announcing next year's addition on Monday, but for now please enjoy the last day of the season! - Joseph Reynolds It's a shame that today's such a rainy and gloomy one. Luckily the storms have held off so most of the rides have been operating all day. One last ride on Heatwave! The sky was getting pretty dark, most people began to leave well before closing time. See you on Monday for a big announcement!
  3. It was my first "big" amusement park so I've always cherished what little I remember about it. As a kid everything seems so big - I'm sure if I returned to the park today it wouldn't seem as huge but it still seemed like a park that had a lot of character, something that can't be said about most parks today.
  4. Crews began to dismantle the Zippin Pippin yesterday: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/jan/28/track-ends-zippin-pippin-roller-coaster/
  5. I'm so excited to finally get to see this!
  6. Robb I appreciate the criticism and will use it my advantage when planning next year's Attraction Awards. Just a couple things I want to mention: These options were chosen based on the number of nominations received. I took all the nominations and made somewhat of a bar graph to represent the number of nominations per attraction/fail/etc. In most cases, there were 6-8 choices that stood out from most of the "outliers". I realize that I have final control over everything, but if I change the options to what I see fit, then isn't that defeating the purpose of the poll? I see your logic, but I would rather have a mixed bag of options to choose from rather than the same top ten steel/wood coasters that would be found on Mitch's poll. The water attraction poll has been removed entirely, as pointed out I made too many careless errors within it to justify it remaining. Again, I appreciate the criticism Robb and will take this as a lesson learned when planning for the next installment of AA.
  7. 1987 13th Season Hello and welcome again to Charleston Gardens Amusement Park! - Joseph Reynolds The lemonade stand is now serving frozen lemonade! A view through the Gardenhill Pass bridge. German Bros. Midway Games The SkyWheel at Harbortown. I can't ride the Scrambler... can you?
  8. It's hard to find six or seven "epic fails" that are on the same level, hence the varying "failness" of the choices. They were all chosen based on the number of nominations. Jurassic Park was removed from the poll, thanks for letting me know.
  9. 1987 13th Season We are getting close to the summer months and it's good to see the park becoming even more lively! - Joseph Reynolds Our new logo is proudly displayed over the entrance plaza. I grabbed a bite at the Greenway Cafe... they sure do serve some great. See you later!
  10. Please post it! I never got to see it!
  11. ^ I agree. It seems anytime Gaylord looks to receive a bit of free press they throw out the "theme park" card and everyone stops, looks and listens.
  12. 1987 13th Season Hello all and welcome to our thirteenth season! - Joseph Reynolds The most noticeable change in the park is of course the entrance plaza. The new tram links guests to the new eastern lot which is quite a good distance away. A new crosswalk gives guests a safer way to approach the entrance plaza from the main parking lot. One last shot of the new entrance plaza. I didn't get much time to tour the park as I was in the office most of the day. Those photos will come soon, though!
  13. The polls are now open. Click here to vote!
  14. 1987 Announcement Charleston Gardens Amusement Park will open with numerous improvements when it opens in the spring of 1987. Charleston Gardens Amusement Park plans to double its parking spaces in 1987 with the addition of a new parking lot that will be located in the eastern section of the property. A new tram system will connect this parking lot to the main entrance gate. Various other improvements across the park will be made next season including new food options, new coats of paint, and more. It's a year of improvements at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park as we strive to make your amusement park the best it can be!
  15. ^ It's still popular. 1986 12th Season Today marks the last day of the season and to celebrate the park is once again staying open until midnight! - Joseph Reynolds The park was surprisingly not as crowded as we initially anticipated. Vortex, the newest ride at the park, lights up the night sky. Harbortown lights up one last time for the season. A ride on one of the swan boats is the perfect way to end the day. The park empties out as the clock strikes midnight. As the sun rises, the park is still and quiet... awaiting another exciting season. See you then!
  16. 1986 12th Season We are currently running a "Midnight Special" at the park. If you come after six you'll get half off admission and a whole six hours at the park. That's a great deal! - Joseph Reynolds It's great to be able to see the park operating this late at night! Every attraction is open during "Midnight Special" nights. See you again next weekend!
  17. 1986 12th Season Hello all! We are making our way through the hot summer months of 1986. And hot is an understatement - it's been downright sweltering! Luckily we have some water attractions to cool you off on these hot days! - Joseph Reynolds An early morning ride on Indigo Plunge is an excellent way to keep cool! The train is a great way to get a relaxing tour of the entire park - no walking required! Have a great day and remember to drink plenty of water!
  18. 1986 12th Season We are moving right along through this season! Schools are getting out soon which will mean crowds will increase! I'm looking forward to the warmer summer months! - Joseph Reynolds Vortex has been well-received with the guests. It seems Gardenhill Pass needed at least one thrill ride! At night, Vortex becomes its own light show. Have a great evening!
  19. ^ I appreciate it. I was doing the best with what Sony Vegas would give me - there were definitely some bad spots throughout the film.
  20. 1986 12th Season Wow, it's hard to believe that the park is 12 years old! With the addition of Vortex, we continue our pursuit to become the premier destination for family entertainment! - Joseph Reynolds Vortex is set back in the trees - we did not want to destroy the peacefulness of Gardenhill Pass. Two stone lion statues were donated to the park from a nearby city park. Charleston Gardens Amusement Park makes its film debut in the movie Beyond Pixelation. Now playing! Watch:
  21. I usually don't post my work outside of the games forum because they're usually all Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, but this one is different. Beyond Pixelation is about two "peeps" that cross through the computer screen into the real world. It was made with alot of greenscreening and two cooperative peeps. It's nowhere near perfect, it's more a starting point for more films like this in the future. Watch and tell me what you think! A digital short entitled "John Stevenson's Backyard Amusement Park" preceds Beyond Pixelation. Bonus points to whoever know what it's inspired by! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vor3anLPmac
  22. Watch Beyond Pixelation Today! I am very excited to be sharing this film with you! While it's far from perfect, I think it represents the starting point for a whole new realm of possibilities for this game. The first ever CD5 Digital Short entitled "John Stevenson's Backyard Amusement Park" precedes the film. Tell me what you think about it! Watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vor3anLPmac And as always, I can't wait to hear your reviews!
  23. 1986 12th Season New for 1986 at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park... Vortex... a high-flying twisting turning spinning plunging thrill ride for the bravest of our guests. Can you handle the forces of Vortex? See you this season at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park! - Joseph Reynolds
  24. ^ Imageshack 1986 12th Season It's the early months of the new year... things are beginnning to come together for the construction of our newest attraction. - Joseph Reynolds Something looks different around Gardenhill Pass! What could we fit in there... CD5's newest movie, Beyond Pixelation, premieres on Tuesday!
