What Was the Last Beer You Drank?

#9 is okay, but the Heart of Darkness seasonal is where it's at for Magic Hat. -

Dogfish Head Sah'tea. Majorly underestimated both the ABV and how much beer was in the bottle, and before I knew it, I was straight-up hammered. It's an awesome beer, but that was not the outcome I was expecting or desiring. -

It's just not very good. Interesting, yes, but ultimately a failed experiment and easily the worst beer in this year's Sam Adams winter lineup. Old Fezziwig, on the other hand, is just plain fantastic and I wish I didn't have to drive into MA just to get standalone sixers and cases of it. -

Rogue Ales is generally a very good brewery, but the Voodoo Doughnut ales that they do are not at all good, at least not in my experience. I haven't tried this one, though, so there may be hope yet for them. -
Totality/Dysentery/Dehumanized/Internal Bleeding/Malignancy at PA's Lounge in Somerville. Awesome lineup (minus Totality) and awesome performances from everyone, but the place quickly filled up with drunk townies who spent the entirety of the Dysentery, Dehumanized, and Internal Bleeding sets hardcore dancing and ruining the fun for everyone, and the fact that someone threw a chair during Dehumanized's set, wound up hitting a dude square in the face and splitting his forehead open, and almost wound up getting beaten to a pulp before running like a bitch the minute he got the chance didn't help matters, and neither did the bad sound or the douchebag owner who was rude as hell to everyone even though we were all buying mad beer.

Saw Fear Factory (though I was exclusively there for Hate Eternal) and they were lame. The energy was there, but Burt's voice is GONE. Harshes have zero power, while his cleans were incredibly faint and off-key and made his reliance on Autotune painfully obvious. It's a good thing that Hate Eternal killed it even with the measly half-hour slot they were allotted.

50% of their vocals are a higher, raspier howl instead of growls, as they have a dual-vocalist system.

Fetus is still worth seeing just for an amazing live show and fantastic setlists that get the crowd going, as well as just getting to experience Trey Williams' mindblowing drumming.

If you're into that kind of Music, you should definitely check it out. Three good guys sitting around BS'ing with rock stars and lots of laughs. Guest guitar players and drummers every episode, and lots of informative discussion. I see you are from Southern MD....where abouts. I am out west in Cumberland. Not really a hot bed for music. The biggest we get is Funny Money/KIX every so often. I'll definitely check it out next time it's on. I'm from St. Mary's County. Really the only music we get to see here are just local bands playing in bars. Most of the time it's country too, ick. If you've got the money and either a car or some people to go with, just get MDF tickets and hit it up this coming spring. Also, if you're willing to drive up to the Baltimore metro area, I'm pretty sure that Dying Fetus does hometown shows every once in a while.

I am getting really, really sick of the loading teams at the UPS center I'm doing seasonal work for as a driver's helper. Not a single day has gone by where they haven't ****ed something up, and if I have to help the driver tear apart half the goddamn truck one more time just to find a package that's about as far away as possible from where it should be or rendezvous with another driver to pick up a bunch of our stuff that got on their truck because no one pays attention to the location labels, I'm going to be very tempted to drive down to the center just to choke a bitch. The driver I work with wasn't kidding when he said that most of the holiday help consists of stupid, arrogant, self-absorbed college kids, dumb wannabe-rednecks who are there only so they can afford more unnecessary mods for their trucks, and angry, abrasive out-of-work fortysomethings with obnoxiously laissez-faire attitudes towards doing what they're supposed to do and a general inability to not be dicks to everyone, and the average quality of the daily loading job sure demonstrates this.

Nero di Marte, Origin, and Gorguts in Burlington, VT. NdM was cool but nothing groundbreaking, Origin tore the place apart (and made me not want to continue playing bass because Mike is good to the point of being discouraging), and Gorguts was less of a performance and more of an experience.
