  1. Hydra - Dorney Park Skyliner - Lakemont Park Gwazi - BGA Mean Streak - CP
  2. I've ridden several different Vekoma models, but I have to say that the Flying Dutchmans are the best of them all. X-Flight at Geauga Lake was definitely the best of them all. I've ridden it as Firehawk at Kings Island, but it just doesn't seem to deliver the goods as well as it used to.
  3. 1. Over Labor Day weekend at Kings Island this year, my group and I were walking under the Racer after riding Flight of Fear and a $20 bill fell down from the ride and one my friends grabbed it. 2. My mom and I were riding the Blue Streak at CP and there was a seagull right on the handrail to the side. It was startled by the train and it flew in my direction; it barely missed me!
  4. I must agree with Lakemont's Skyliner because of its great pacing and wonderful airtime moments. However, Kennywood's Jack Rabbit also comes to mind. A back seat ride is just incredible.
  5. This new coaster looks like it's going to be an AMAZING addition to the BGA line-up. However, the name just isn't "Busch Gardens-like." Look at the other coaster names there and tell me how "Cheetah Hunt" fits in with them. Whatever happened to "Cheetaka"?
  6. I am thankful for many things in the amusement park industry, but here are the top ones: --Living 90 minutes away from the absolutely wonderful Kennywood Park. --Having the opportunity to meet Walter Bolliger at CoasterMania this year. --Obviously Theme Park Review --Going to college almost even distanced between Kings Island and Kings Dominion --Plus having an awesome family who supports my roller coaster riding habit!
  7. I have really ridden only one "true" Dinn/Summers woodie and that would be "Mean Streak," which is one of my personal favorites. I was actually supposed be a ride operator on it for this past season, but things happened and I couldn't take the job. Yes, it is very rough, but so is the number one woodie right now: "The Voyage." When I took my one ride on it, I was BEAT. I must say that I enjoyed "The Legend' much more. Also, "The Beast" technically is a Dinn woodie. It's an epic woodie that has had some extra braking over these past years, which I thought this year was a bit lighter than a few years ago. Summers was a structural engineer who worked on MANY roller coasters (indirectly brought up by a mention to his work on "Thunder Road"). If we go down this road, we can also bring up Kennywood's "Steel Phantom," as Summers designed much of the structure. Of course this coaster was a good ride (except for that horrid 80 mph turn) and has been improved wonderfully as "Phantom's Revenge."
  8. These are all the ones I can think of at the moment: Cedar Point - Millennium Force, Magnum XL-200, Raptor Kennywood - Phantom's Revenge, Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit Kings Island - Diamondback (although I long for one on The Beast)
  9. I usually wear Vans myself, but just the normal college walking has worn both of my pairs out. They're just too expensive and they've never really lasted for me.
  10. Okay. Commons is the one next to Breakers Express and Cedars is the one across from the WildCat. That's kind of what I was hoping to here. And yes, I realize I'm not guaranteed to work on Mean Streak, but I'm REALLY hoping for it!
  11. Thanks everyone for the housing advice. I heard a lot about how much better Commons is than Cedars. I'm just a bit curious, but which facility is the one you see when you pass the Breakers Express?
  12. I'll be a Mean Streak ride host this summer! I'm very excited for my first summer working at Cedar Point!
  13. Well, I think the absolute best one I've had to date was Kennywood's Media Day in 2008. I got the first ride (to my knowledge) in the front seat on the Thunderbolt for the season! However, I've got a few more I think one their way! Very excited to hear Walter Bolliger speak at CoasterMania and the behind-the-scenes tours of Millennium Force and Maverick going on as well. Working as a ride host for Mean Streak is also going to be exciting as well!
  14. I've heard good things about Commons as well. I process in on May 16th, so I'm hoping there's a room left by then. I'm really hoping to get a dorm rather than an apartment. I got a friend who has applied, hasn't officially gotten the job yet, and we were hoping to room together.
  15. Once again thanks for all of the advice! The tips on the shoes is REALLY helpful. But to all of you who worked at CP in previous years, what are the residential aspects like? Is there a specific facility I should try to get into? Also, is there anything I should/could do to make my experience even more memorable and exciting? I'm already REALLY excited to be working Mean Streak this summer!
  16. Thanks a lot everybody for the advice! I really needed a lot of that! I would especially like to thank those who suggested about the shoes. I was so glad to hear that I would be running Mean Streak, since it is one of my all time favorite woodies. Thanks again everyone!
  17. So, this summer I'll be one of the ride operators on Mean Streak, is there anyone who could maybe share a little knowledge about being a ride operator at Cedar Point or other parks? I'm pretty excited, but I've heard some interesting stories about working at CP. Is it really going to be as fun as it sounds?
