1. Great advice, I was literally thinking of that. Next time taking everything out and placing it in the locker. Thanks! if you're close, take anything out of your pockets too. i think a wallet can sometimes make the difference of riding or not. i'd also check out who's working and on what side of the train and try to sit where the big guy is working so he can push down on the lap bar.
2. Lol can I request another op to push? Because I didn’t want to come off rude but it was a 110lb looking woman trying to push and I really wanted to request the big bulky guy checking the other sides restraints but I didn’t want to come off like an a**hole. I agree, the ride is phenomenal from start to finish and considering what Mean Streak used to be, it's such night and day regarding ride experience. I am not a fan of some of the rides at Cedar Point, we skipped Rougaru and Raptor because I don't care for them anymore, we rode Gatekeeper which is a yawner, and Valravn is fine, but no doubt besides TTD's amazing launch with just lapbars and the quick experience, MF's just power and re-rideabilty, Maverick being just straight up fun, SteVe is up there among the most amazing coasters I've ever ridden. It's almost overkill for how long it is but that doesn't matter, it's SO much fun. I remember saying during my first ride and with my family that the coaster just doesn't give up and every fricking inch has something thrilling. It's definitely up there with X2 and Deja Vu/Goliath at SFNE in regards to intense ride experiences as far as I'm concerned. I like intensity and prefer it over being smooth, I like being scared out of my wits, and SteVe has done it remarkably well, even with how insane the ride cycle is, it rides like butter. It gets to a point where there's no rating rides like this, they're different on their own merit and it's great to have that kind of variance. Stop eating/drinking carbs and run a couple miles NOW! Sweat your balls off and drink lots of water. When you get in the train suck in that gut, get that seatbelt fastened, and tell those ride ops to push the lap bar in as hard as they can even if it takes 2 of them. I have faith in you! I'm not even a big guy with a gut and had the biggest bitch at Wicked Twister, couldn't get the seatbelts locked so I had them push on my restraint till it happened.
3. Apparently I’m too fat for steel vengeance lol my first ever walk of shame. I feel like I was nearly there and if I would’ve given it a little more effort I would’ve made it. But I didn’t want to be inconsiderate and hold people up since we had already waited an eternity. Any tips you larger guys could give that may work for when you come close to fitting on a ride?? I would like to try it one more time before I leave it’s the main reason I came.
4. I'd go with Hershey and risk the weather. 2 days at the beginning of October for Cedar Point will be PLENTY of time to do what you want. Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to take your advice and do Hershey.
5. Debating on heading out to the park tomorrow. Although I see a forecast for possible thunderstorms throughout most of the day. Also wondering if crowds will be very heavy since it's a Saturday. Any advice? Is it worth going?
6. I'm horrible at making decisions can someone please help me decide? I haven't been to a park all year and desperately would like to attend one tomorrow. I've decided to go alone since it's last minute. I live in Pittsburgh so Cedar Point/Hershey Park are about the same distances away. Here's what makes the decision tough. I've heard weekends at CP in August can be very brutal. I also have a 2 day trip to CP already planned for the first weekend of October with friends. Which has made me think about going with Hershey since I've only been there once about 4 years ago. But of course they're predicting thunderstorms tomorrow in Hershey. What would you pick?
7. Nope. Cleos out sick. Nevermind
8. Thinking about heading to the park tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what I should expect crowd wise for a Saturday in the 80’s mid June?
9. Please help! I have an upcoming trip to VA beach the first week of June. I would really like to visit one of the Virginia parks while I'm there but I'm stuck when it comes to choosing. On one hand I'd really like to do KD because I've been dying to try I-305 and Twisted Timbers. I've never ridden an RMC, and Millenium is the only giga I've experienced. However, after those 2 coasters nothing else really stands out to me. When it comes to Busch, there's nothing I'm particularly dying to ride but their coaster collection as a whole seems to catch my eye a little more than the remaining rides I'd have to choose from at KD. Which park would you suggest?
10. Is Back Lot Stunt Coaster a tight squeeze? Judging from the pics, the seating looks very cramped.
11. I know you seemed to have moved on from this plan but I figured I'd mention that Queue Times is a great resource for these types of things since you can track wait times for the past week and get an idea of what to expect on a Haunt Saturday based on the previous Haunt Saturday. Some highlights from this past Saturday include... Gatekeeper: 105 Minutes at park close. I'd imagine that ride was cycling until almost 2 in the morning. Valravn: 120 Minutes at it's peak. 105 Minutes at park close. I'd imagine that ride was cycling until almost 2 in the morning. Millennium Force: 120 Minutes all day and at park close. Again... probably cycling until 2 in the morning. Maverick: 130 Minutes all day. More of the same... these poor ride ops. Deprivation: 105 minutes at park close Maxair was at ONE HOUR for the majority of the afternoon. Maxair... BLUE STREAK (yes... Blue Streak) closed with a 45 minute wait at midnight. Power tower did also. 45 minutes at midnight for an S&S tower. Jesus... Skyhawk (which never has a line) was also posting an hour wait for the majority of the afternoon. Rouagrou: 90 minutes most of the day. F*cking Rougarou... Queue-Times doesn't have Kings Island wait times unfortunately, but they have information on a lot of parks if you're curious. The data is pulled right from the park's respective wait time apps. First I'd just like to thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it a lot. But OMG those lines are outrageous!!! I also forgot Dragster is down. I couldn't imagine going to the park and not being able to ride it. This really has me second guessing. I may have to look a little more into KI.
12. Depends on what you want. KI is open an hour later and has more Haunt mazes and better Haunt mazes. Didn't see any shows at Halloweekends when we went but the shows at KI are great. Also: Beast, Diamondback, Timbers, Banshee, Bat, Adventure Express,... are all amazing at night during Haunt. Personally, I think KI has a better atmosphere during Haunt than Cedar Point does. Of course, you don't get Maverick, MF, and the others (except Dragster) but you can go on a summer night during ERT (or CoasterMania!) for the night ride experiences if that's what you're after. But yeah.... after going to Halloweekends once last year and once this year and KI Haunt many more times, I highly recommend KI Haunt over Halloweekends. Of the few mazes at CP, there are only a couple I'd really say are worth waiting a long time for, if any. Sounds like KI may be a winner. Can I expect the lines to be as bad as Cedar Point? They can still be very bad, but it always seems like things cut down a lot 12-1, especially the mazes. Plan your night so that you are in the vicinity of what you want to do towards the end and you might be able to stuff quite a few in last minute (especially mazes). For example: Slaughterhouse is right by Beast and I always see it with almost no line as it gets closer to closing. Cavern of Terror is nearby too. Timbers and Diamondback are right across from each other but it's doubtful if you could fit in both of those + front row of Beast in that hour (and you DEFINITELY should end the night with a front row ride on Beast, but recognize that if you get in line just before 1, you'll get on it but most likely not in the front row). Beware of Field of Screams. It's definitely one of the best mazes, but the length of the queue can be deceiving since the queue goes through a lot of Dinosaurs Alive. If you see the end of the queue from the entrance, that is going to be a long wait. You also have to recognize that you have a decent walk from exiting the maze to get back. I definitely recommend this maze, but don't try to do it when you're pressed for time for anything else. Haunt doesn't start until 8, so obviously if you get there earlier in the day, you have plenty of time to ride coasters before Haunt starts and then focus on mazes more once it starts. Save Field of Screams, Wolf Pack, and the bayou maze for when it's darker. The lines I see get the longest are Blackout, Field of Screams, Cavern of Terror, and CarnEvil. I wouldn't recommend waiting too long for anything else since A. IMO those four are the best and the others aren't worth waiting too long for and B. most likely as the night goes on, the lines for the other mazes will thin out a lot more anyway. Good luck and let us know how you like KI! Maybe someone who has been recently on a Saturday can weigh in as well, since I've only been on Fridays this year. However, I think the general popularity trends still ring true whichever day you go. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. I will be sure to report back on how my night goes at the park.
13. Depends on what you want. KI is open an hour later and has more Haunt mazes and better Haunt mazes. Didn't see any shows at Halloweekends when we went but the shows at KI are great. 14. One more thing... I've never been to Kings Island so if Halloweekends is going to be ridiculously crowded would it be worth it to give KI a try instead?
15. I've already read that Saturday is the worst day to attend Halloweekends but just how bad should I expect lines to be this Saturday?
16. According to the parks Facebook page the lift has just been topped off.
17. Is the park typically crowded on Saturdays in September? Thinking about going on the 16th.
18. Just when you think Cedar Point can't get any better than it already is they always manage to prove us wrong. Steel Vengeance and Maverick are going to have INSANE lines. I will definitely be investing in fast lane plus next year.
19. Wow its been a while since someone asked this, I almost don't know how to respond. Serious tho put it this way: you're better off attempting an April weekend day than a summer weekend day that said depending on weather its a crapshoot. If its overcast/chance of rain GO FOR IT> Those days can be the best for crowds. Pack a poncho and prepare to maybe ride in the rain. On the flip, it can get crowded if the weather is nice. Crowded enough that you'll want a flash pass. Also sometimes church groups can spontaneously overrun the park on spring weekends. It's awful. And those cheerleading meetups. Horrific. You should budget for a flash pass - a gold pass can usually get the job done. If it turns out you don't need it you have extra money to spend on something else, but if its RAMMED and you dont have the cash to pony up on the Qbot, you're gonna hate life. Operations at the park are *usually* fine by then - the first weekend or two we may see one train ops but this park is usually great bout running all available trains even in times they aren't even warranted like all the time on Bizarro because they're always only gonna stack the 3rd train anyway and in the process suck the life out of everyone who rides it as they wait for an hour and half on the brake run in the hot jersey sun wilting away into theme park oblivion. Thanks for the advice! Sheesh from what I hear this park seems like it's always crowded.
20. How crowded does the park usually get during weekends in April? Is a flash pass needed? Also what are operations like, are all of the rides typically open at the start of the season?
21. Are enthusiasts not people as well? Does El Toro not maintain long lines throughout the day? It's still without a doubt a very popular ride at that park. Also recall saying amazing coasters which would not include Safari. All enthusiasts talk about is El Toro. Most people talk about Kingda Ka, Joker and Safari Off Road Adventure more than anything else at the park when it comes up in conversation.
22. True! Just my opinion, Blue Streak is a good coaster but compared to the rest of the coasters is nothing really special. Most people would skip it before the new walkway was put into place. I'm talking about a standout woodie like El Toro. That park has amazing coasters yet all people talk about is El Toro. I also never said anything about the steel to wooden ratio I said what I would like to see. Thanks! The only things wooden coasters do better than steel coasters are consist of wood. I also think Blue Streak would like to protest your claim of CP lacking a woodie.
23. I would like to see the park completely demolish Mean Streak and build an Intamin hybrid woodie like El Toro. It'd be nice to reach 200ft and provide an 80 degree drop with some ejector air throughout the layout. But I definitely think it should be a woodie. That is the only standout coaster that CP lacks right now.
24. Thank you so much for your help. One last question. I haven't been able to keep up on Valravn. How is the ride? Does it live up to the hype?
