  1. Oooh, of course I rode the mine train, thanks for reminding me! They warned me that it was going to be rough but actually for an Arrow coaster of this age it was quite good and I enjoyed it a lot even though each of the three sections is super short
  2. Thanks so much for the advice! It was really appreciated and it would have worked out very well. As promised, here my trip report with my personal opinion about the coasters, even though it's an embarrassing testament to be getting old. Saturday September 23rd: They didn't let cars into the parking lot until 11:15am and visitors into the park until 11:45am. But then, Steel Cyclone ran shortly after. I was in the first train of the day. The ride was fine and maybe I'm just spoiled for having ridden many excellent RMCs before but compared to the others I only found it mediocre. Still, many parks would be glad to have something like it. Georgia Scorcher was actually behind the rope, so not open until 12pm but that gave me the opportunity to be on another first train of the day. It was nice to ride another stand up coaster, they are getting quite rare. Unfortunately this one was very intense with the positive G forces and made me dizzy. It could have also been the hot weather and I guess I'm getting too old for this hobby. Anyway, at Dare Devil Dive the wait was only a couple of minutes after that. I really don't like these types of Gerstlauer coasters with the vertical lifts and drops but this one in particular turned out better than expected. I'm still not a fan but it was smoother than I thought and G forces weren't too bad. Afterwards, Goliath was a walk on. The lift and first drop and airtime hills were great, but I didn't care for the helix in the middle part. At this point I must admit I was starting to feel very dizzy and nauseated. Otherwise I would have liked Goliath even more than I still did. I guess with jetlag from international travel, the heat and 4 pretty wild coasters within 30 minutes it was not really going to be my day. Next I did Jokers fun house coaster which was missing in your list. I thought strategy-wise this would be the best point to insert it into your plan and also it was quite tame which is what I now needed. The layout is actually very nice and I had more fun than expected. Onwards I went to Superman, which had no line at this time around 12:45pm. Your strategy was really good and it would have worked pretty well. Except, I was feeling sick just thinking about riding the pretzel loop. I rode clones and similar rides before and just couldn't do it. I didn't even feel like any other rides so I just got a drink and sat down in the shade for 45 minutes while all coasters started building up longer lines until I felt a little better. I debated about going back to the hotel to rest before heading to Fun Spot and maybe I could come back later tonight. But then I felt a tiny bit better and it would have been a shame to leave without riding the Schwarzkopf. So I rode Mind Bender which had a 25 minute wait now. It was really fun as expected. The layout is very unique and I like that the two loops are so spread out over the course. It was smooth as expected. The track is different from most other coasters. Could this be what gave Intamin the idea for their mega coaster track all those decades later? I do wonder why the new trains are so short, but otherwise I liked the them. If course I prefer the classic ones but then if you think about Löna Grund, maybe we need new trains for more Schwarzkopf around the world. I started feeling a little bit better so I took another short break and decided I could probably manage some more rides. I figured if I won't finish all coasters today, chances are I can come back in maybe 5 or 10 years and still ride the two B&Ms. Also, they are not unique in their layouts so not a big loss. That is why I prioritized Great American Scream Machine. It was a little bit rough but not horribly so and it is really pretty with its white supports at the lake. The layout with lots of airtime is exactly to my liking. Next I even managed to drag myself on the old Vekoma multi looper Blue Hawk because I hoped the g forces would be less intense than on Batman or Superman. And these really old Vekoma coasters have a limited lifespan at other parks so maybe this has the highest chance of being gone when I can come back. The coaster wasn't as horrible or as rough as I expected, which was a nice surprise. Still, the five inversions left me dizzy again. I could have done Batman now, maybe even Superman, but that would have completely ruined me for the day so I couldn't have enjoyed Fun Spot. That's why I left with 9 out of 11 coasters. I didn't have enough time for a long hotel break anymore but at least for a good lunch and some relaxed waking with a/c in a department store which helped me a lot. Then it was time for Fun Spot. I got there around 6:30pm. It was nice that they let me ride the Sea Serpent even though it's a kiddie ride. Then I also did their other family coaster. Finally, it was time for Arie Force 1. Wow, what a ride! It was amazing! It was super wild as I have expected from this RMC and the layout is so much fun! The inversions are great, too! If course it's not a tame ride but actually for my body it was a lot easier and less nauseating than most rides at Six Flags. I was tempted to ride it several more times (which I should've). In my opinion it is by far the best ride in the Atlanta region - sorry, Six Flags! But instead of re-rides, looking at the time, I could instead get back to Six Flags to finish what I had started. I felt good enough to do Batman now, especially as the sun went down, and with it the heat. If they wouldn't close the line early for Superman, at this point I would just ride it because it would be the last ride of the day and it couldn't ruin Arie Force 1 anymore. I got back to the Six Flags parking lot at 8:02pm for a 10pm closing. And guess what, they didn't let me or anyone else in anymore. No admissions after 8pm, despite the fact that I got a wristband for re entry earlier. That's really annoying. It meant that I couldn't get the two missing coasters today anymore and that I should've just opted for re rides on Arie Force 1 instead. Oh well, one day when I have a long layover in ATL I will come back to hopefully complete my coaster collection here. As a closing thought, I must say that Six Flags over Georgia was still one of the better Six Flags parks in my opinion. Operations at opening and throughout the afternoon were very good, except for the no re-entry after 8pm rule. All coasters were up and running with multiple trains (where possible) which is not always the case at other Six Flags. The coaster line up is not amazing but still decent enough. My favorite was the Mind Bender but also the Great American Scream Machine and Goliath were pretty good. One last remark: You should all try to go to the North Georgia State Fair to ride the amazing Schwarzkopf Wildcat coaster. It is super well maintained and so smooth. The team are the friendliest people in the world and really appreciate what a special coaster they have there.
  3. Hi, I would love to get some advice from you because I'll be visiting Atlanta for the first time on Saturday and will want to ride all coasters at Six Flags and Fun Spot. Both will be open 12pm-10pm that day. Normally, my plan would be to start at Six Flags, arrive early and try to quickly do as many coasters as possible before it gets too crowded, then finish off the day at Fun Spot. Would that be the way to go? I ask because last week we were at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in CA where operations at park opening were terrible. They opened the coasters one after the other within the first 3 hours of the day so there was no point in being there early. In that case I would prefer Fun Spot first to get a few rides on the RMC before heading over to Six Flags. Any advice would be well appreciated. I'm visiting from Germany so I don't have the regular experience that some of you have. I'll share my thoughts about the parks and coasters afterwards with you.
  4. Who's there for the grand opening and wants to join us for Disney's Premium Tour? The Disney Premium Tour is a VIP Tour Service offered by Shanghai Disneyland. During the 6 hour tour the group (up to 6 people) will get priority access with little or no wait to all attractions and select characters greeting experiences. More information can be found on the official website: https://www.shanghaidisneyresort.com/en/tours/vip-tour-services/ These tours officially don't start until July 1st but we managed to get a reservation for Friday June 17th. That way, everyone has time to experience the new park and the festivities of the grand opening day (16th) in a relaxed way because we know for sure that on the next day we are guaranteed to do all the rides as much as we like during the tour. Our plan is to do the tour in the afternoon between 1pm and 7pm on June 17th and focus on the rides. We would like to do the big rides like Tron, Soarin, Pirates several times and do the small rides at least once each. We do not plan to watch a show or have a table service meal during the tour because we feel that would be a waste of time / money. Those things can be done outside of the tour . Who wants to join us? The more we are, the lower the cost per person. Currently we are 3 so with you we'd already be 4 . Send me a private message for details. Please note that I am not looking to make any profit. I just want to share the tour with other Disney fans so that the cost per person goes down for everyone involved. Best Regards, Wuzefelix
  5. Thank you so much for your advice, Johnlloyd, Married a Canadian, coasterbill. You're great . Now I have a good plan for which rides to do first in the morning. We managed to get all 15 then operational coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain done within 6 hours on a Saturday last year in March. At Cedar Point it took us about 8 hours for 15 coasters two years ago but that was on July 4th. My personal record is 14 coasters at Carowinds in under 3 hours on a weekday last July. With it being a Sunday, I doubt I will be that fast in Canada's Wonderland but with a good plan for the morning and the fast lane for later during the day I am now more confident that it can be done in a day or less than a full day. I will have to look at Skyhawk but from the pictures I must say it doesn't look too appealing for me. I don't usually do flatrides but the only exception at Canada's Wonderland will be Sledge Hammer that I would love to ride, after I get done with the coasters. The Huss Jump was my favorite funfair attraction back in the day and I've never ridden a Huss Jump 2 before. I believe Sledge Hammer might even be the only one out there. If there's time I might do some re-rides of my favorites with fast lane. From the pictures I think Behemoth might be my favorite, followed by Leviathan. But we'll see. I'll report back here in two weeks to let you know how it went .
  6. Hi, I'm going to visit Canada's Wonderland for my first time on Sunday May 8th. My mission is to ride each of the 16 roller coasters (according to rcdb) once in as little time as possible. I'll be there at park opening and I'm prepared to stay until closing, if necessary. I will have Fast Lane Plus, so that should help. Any tips? My plan is to quickly go to Wonder Mountain's Guardian right at park opening since it's not on the Fast Lane Plus. Would that be smart? Where should I go from there? Maybe it's smart to do a few other non-fast lane coasters after that before the park gets too crowded? Which ones would typically have the longest waits? Thanks in advance for your help . Felix
  7. Hi, I've had the opportunity to visit Sri Lanka in April 2015 and decided to check out their only theme park: Leisure World. Those who expect to see big roller coasters, world class theming or high tech rides will certainly disappointed by this TR. However I invite everyone who likes to see small parks that aren't well covered on enthusiast websites to join me on my trip through Leisure World. Leisure World is located near the city of Colombo. When you see this sign in the middle of the jungle, you found it! It can be reached from Colombo or Negombo within about 1 hour by very affordable taxi. So everyone visiting Sri Lanka can easily build it in their itinerary. Welcome to Sri Lanka's first and so far only amusement park! This is where they check your ticket. Just the admission is less than $1 USD. You then have to pay about $1-2 USD per ride. There are also several packages including different rides and or the water park. The supreme package which includes admission to the water park, amusement park and unlimited rides all day costs under $20 USD. First impression of the park. Where is everyone? Some rides at the other side of a small lake. Renting boats to cruise around the lake is always a fun leisure activity in all countries. Sri Lanka is no exception. You cross this bridge to go to the water park. I didn't use Photoshop for these pictures . So Leisure World is a place where Sri Lankans spend their leisure time. That includes just laying in the shade enjoying their day. I can't blame them at all . Nice day out on the water! This is the entrance to the water park. I didn't go in so I don't have many photos. The locals were ready for some water park fun. There seems to be a decent selection of slides. I decided to check out more of the amusement park instead. Most people were just relaxing in the shade so I joined them for a bit. Glad the coconut didn't fall down . OK let's look at some of the rides! Weird looking top spin ride . Probably their biggest ride is the flume. Hi flume riders!! All cultures enjoy flume rides . Looks like someone got wet . Note this guy operating the ride photo system! Here comes the boat... ...SPLASH!! He then hands them the number of the picture to find it later in case they want to buy it. Lots of happy faces . Like myself, many people just enjoyed the flume ride by watching others ride it. They also have one of these Chinese-made pendulum rides. Unfortunately it's not a credit . Actually most of the rides in Leisure World seemed to be made in China. In the west these rides seem to be only used by kids but in Sri Lanka everyone enjoys them. The rides aren't that special to enthusiasts but the green scenery is nice. Yes, this is still in the amusement park. If you fancy some refreshing citrus fruit, just pick it from the tree . The selection of flat rides is actually not that bad. Love the butterfly paint job of the ride op house. This is the moment I was waiting for all day: The whacky worm!!! Sri Lanka's only roller coaster. Like all rides in this park, this one is not just used by kids but by adults, too. There it goes. Again, for some it is just as much fun to watch others ride. There were many spectators in front of all the "big" rides like this. But this time I had to ride it, too, because I needed the credit . They also have bumper cars. A small drop tower that was SBNO. The day was so beautiful that I didn't want to go inside but I still wonder which film they are showing. Just enjoying the beautiful palm trees. You know these Chinese bumper boats? They have them as extra seating near their restaurant . There's also regular seating though. I didn't want to go inside because of the A/C. I just got something at the counter outside. For around $2 USD in a theme park this was really good! After lunch it's time to just hang out and rest. Usually it's the simple things that are the most fun! Who doesn't enjoy swings? It's understandable that the locals come to the park to spend a lazy afternoon or have a picnic. This is "Leisure World", too. You don't always have to do the rides to spend a few enjoyable hours. Family day out. And that's all from Sri Lanka's first theme park. Of course Leisure World is not a big park but it could be a nice addition to a Sri Lanka vacation for any enthusiast. You will most likely be flying in and out of Colombo anyway so just spend a night in the Colombo / Negombo area at the beginning or end of your trip and visit this small but very charming park . I didn't spend the entire day there but on my way to and from the park I stopped at a few very nice Buddhist temples and even climbed a sacred Buddhist mountain off the beaten track. Sri Lanka is a very beautiful place with a rich culture, extremely friendly and accomodating people, great food and so much to do and see: You can go on safari in their national parks, visit the rainforest, see some amazing Buddhist sites, go river rafting or just chill on some of the most stunning beaches. I have already visited many countries in Asia but Sri Lanka really stands out. I can highly recommend it! Best Regards, Felix
  8. Yes the B&M is open! I loved it, but it was very intense - especially in the hot summer. Possibly too intense, because there was no queue while some other rides had up to 90 minutes waiting times.
  9. It's open!! Been there today - the coaster is awesome. One of my favorite woodies, especially for the magnificent views and the terrain embracing layout. The rest of the park is nice, too. Not much for adrenaline junkies, but fantastic landscaping and decent restaurants. The night time show "Aqua" was the icing on the cake . If anyone has questions about the park, I'll try my best to answer. Best wishes, Felix Now open: Mountain Flyer @ OCT East - Shenzhen Evening Show: Aqua @ OCT East - Shenzhen
  10. Hi all! A "new" Chinese theme and water park is going to open on July 16th 2011. It is located somewhere near Zhongshan in the Guangdong province in southern China. I read that this park used to exist until May 2009 as "Changjiang Land" but has been closed and underwent extensive works to basically create a brand new park. Apparently the park is financed by the roller coaster manufacturer "Golden Horse" which is located somewhere in that area as well. This could be interesting, maybe it is similar to Europa Park Germany where the park is built primarily to showcase the rides to potential customers. It looks like there will also be a water park area as well as rides and at least 1 coaster. Changjiang Water World: "Changjiang Water World has an operating capacity of 6,000 tourists, cost 200 million RMB, and occupies one hundred thousand square meters. Based on Changjiang Reservoir’s water provision and beautiful natural environment, the Water World provides tourists with not only natural scenery but also fourteen interesting, exciting, and advanced water amusement and leisure facilities such as Overfly Rainbow, Time Shuttle, Deep Sea Whirlpool, Big Wave Shuttle Boat, Rain Forest Tribe, Children Fun World, Jungle Drift, SPA, Aegean Bay, and so on. “In addition, there are also a fitness center, a nursing station, food and beverage services, and a show pier around the corner of Aegean Bay where there are performances every day,” said Zheng Jian-Ping, Vice General Manager of Changjiang Water World" Source: http://www.chinaamuse.com/catalog/zhazhiqikan/201008/2010081/201083/459_201083141112218_1.html Source: http://www.footprints.com.cn/cate/tournews/hk/2011/0426/3736.html Source: http://www.footprints.com.cn/cate/tournews/hk/2011/0426/3736.html Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Source: "威吓者305" - http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 Sources: http://www.taiwanslot.com.tw/en/current_detail.php?serial=242 http://tieba.baidu.com/f?kz=1086700087 http://www.chinaamuse.com/catalog/zhazhiqikan/201008/2010081/201083/459_201083141112218_1.html http://www.footprints.com.cn/cate/tournews/hk/2011/0426/3736.html Best regards, Wuzefelix
  11. Good news! I hope the park will actually be built. Yeah, Morocco is a huge tourist destination for Europeans. Especially the French and Spanish go there a lot, but also many tourists from the other European countries. Also, I bet the locals will want to visit the park, too.
  12. Hi, I hope this is the correct thread. I just wanted to let you know that apparently the S&S has opened. This bad quality video is the proof, there are definitively people riding: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjY3MzY4NzA4.html I hope the S&S in Shenzhen opens soon, too
  13. I'm deeply sorry to bring this old thread up again. This is my first post and I wasn't sure where else to put my question: Is there already an opening date for Sega Republic in the Dubai Mall? I'm going to be there on August 31st and would love if it was already open. To make up for my bad behavior I share with you some photos from my first visit to Dubai (including many parks) from June 2009. I've been there only for a day during my travel to China. http://freizeitparkweb.de/cgi-bin/dcf/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=3518&forum=DCForumID39 (Sorry the text is only in German, but enjoy the pics) This fall when I'm back home from all my trips, I'm going to write proper trip reports about the Chinese parks and upload them here on TPR!
