  1. Cheetah Hunt? When there's already Cheetah Chase? Did the Cedar Fair naming guys invade this project or something?

While I couldn't agree more... they did it with Gwazi also... Gwazi Gliders which is the kiddie ride right next to the coaster... and while I liked Cheetaka more than Cheetah Hunt (well, I got used to saying Cheetaka at least), it does seem to go with the flow of the animal habitat being named "run"... So there is a Cheetah Hunt, Cheetah Chase, Cheetah Run... I guess it flows... still think Cheetaka did fit in better with the other coaster names though (Sheikra, Montu, Kumba, Gwazi...) Eh, at least the ride will rock...

  2. Just got Geometry Wars:Galaxies on Wii... I know I'm late to the party (and twitch shooters aren't my thing) but DAMN... this game is great... its addicting, flashy and fun... it even makes me look like I'm good at retro shooters (which I'm really not...) this game was well worth the $10 I paid to get it (through Amazon)...

  3. I want Alone spoilers too, I'm doing it on Friday night and I want to guarantee I get throught and get that t-shirt.

***Okay, as far as spoilers are concerned, my conscience won't let me spoil anything and ruin the adventure for anybody who wants a surprise... so I can't go into too much detail...

...I WILL say that the effects in this house left me in awe... I was amazed in the trouble that BGT went through (and continues to with every brave soul who attempts the house) to make this haunt possible...

...as far as making it through and getting the T-shirt... seriously don't worry about that too much... have a beer before hand (not too many) to relax a bit (it helped me remain calm...)... the house is rather well lit... so darkness isn't much of an issue... I found the house to me more amusing/funny, than frightfully scary to be honest... I can see VERY timid people getting pretty scared... but I honestly gawked nervously, hopped up and down and giggled my way through the house and made it out JUST FINE!!! The surrounding effects just made me go further and further deeper into the house... it was awesome...

***now with that said, I can't stress enough, BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! THIS SUCKER HAS BEEN SELLING OUT!!! And for only $25 pre-purchase price AND you get a T-Shirt (a cool one I might add)... you all know how much theme parks charge for T-Shirts now-a-days... at least $20... and for only $5 more you are getting one of the most ellaborate haunts I've come across... brilliant honestly...

And to those wanting more information (possibly Wes and other curious parties out there), please send me a message, as I don't want to be the cause of spoiling the fun for the other planning on going... have fun... and I want to know what you think (downunder)...

  4. Sorry to derail for a second, but has anyone done the "Alone" upcharge maze at Howl-O-Scream? I'm really interested in reading a detailed review (with spoilers). I did some searching around the Googlez last night and was able to figure out bits and pieces, but a nice comprehensive rundown would be super super rad.

Hey Wes... I actually went to Alone during the first night of Freaky Preview... I loved the entire event, but especially loved ALONE... I posted my thoughts of the entire event (including a no spoiler Alone write up)... I copied it from earlier in this thread... if you want details, I can provide them, but again, didn't want to spoil anything... I loved the house and it was totally worth it, if only to get the T-Shirt... read on for more details...

**Just got back from Freaky Preview and braved ALONE... Gotta say that it was pretty damn cool... I'm not going to spoil anything, but it truly isn't difficult to make it through... I was very worried I was going to get "lost" or too scared to finish on my own, but neither happened... at the same time, if you are VERY timid, I can see it being more "challenging" to make it through... in the house there were LOTS of cool effects, some of which confused the hell out of me... the house made me laugh, confused me and scared me all at the same time... worth the $25 pre-purchase price if you ask me, if to only get the T-Shirt... and BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! Both nights of Freaky Preview sold out of ALONE reservations before the event even opened!!! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU GET INTO THE PARK!!! Many MANY people were asking about buying tickets in the 20 minutes I was waiting my turn, only to be turned away...

(these are not listed in the order I went through them... I'm listing them as I think of them...)

The remainder of the night was a blast... many recycled houses, which I honestly don't mind, since many of them are very VERY enjoyable and worth revisiting.

**My favorite is still the Nightshade Toy factory(went through twice), now in its new location, was even better than last year if you ask me...

**My X Revenge Rocks (went through twice) house was very cute... not very scary, but well done. It was a nice replacement for 13 from the past 3 years...

**Not much changed in D.E.D.er from last year. Still a silly but enjoyable house.

**My former favorite, Trapped in the Walls, still good, but may need to be changed out next year (if you ask me...). The paranormal investigation 'update' of it all wasn't showcased enough, and very little was changed to the house to keep it feeling fresh... Univeral HHNs paranormal house "Legendary Truth" did this theme MUCH better this year... but Trapped wasn't terrible, just a touch disappointing, being my former favorite...

**Deconstructed, used to be my least favorite was a pleasant surprise to me... maybe it was just good timing, but I got many scares from it... but in the same breath, that house can be changed out in lieu of a new on next year too, and I wouldn't mind...

**which brings us to Death Row Vengence... another house I really liked in its first two years... and now in year 3, I still like it... but it might need more of a facelift it they want to keep it around for another couple...

**Biggest surprise of the night for me was another returning one... Taste of Blood... Liked it in its first year... I was tired of in its second year... But I loved this house THIS year... they reversed the maze, and for the better... the flow just seemed smoother... the scares were plenty... and the same gags that were there from years past seemed to work even better... again, maybe like Deconstructed, it was good timing, but I jumped a lot during Taste of Blood...

Can't honestly say much about the scare zones... they were okay I guess, maybe even lacking... but nothing terribly memorable... We caught 2 songs from "My X" (which was on a tiny stage infront of Gwazi's entrance) and they sounded great, but left to go through more houses... and those houses were top notch (even the ones I've grown tired of...) And the light crowds certainly help the enjoyment of the night (unlike the blazing heat temperatures... at least the rain held off until my drive home...)

Amazing night... and on top of the houses, scares and beers... we rode Gwazi (lion, as tiger is currently closed... perhaps for the rumored millenium flyers?! I can dream, no?!) and believe it or not, it was running better than it ever has... maybe because it was later in the day, "cooler" air, warmed up trains?!... and also rode Kumba (my FAVORITE coaster!!!) Great Night!!!! I hope to add some pictures here over the weekend...

  5. Has anyone out there done 'Alone'? I would love to hear about it and how it's different from other mazes. Also,l I think you have the option of going in with 3 friends. But, wow, $35 is STEEP!!!!

I copied and pasted my post directly from the BGT thread, in regards to my thoughts of this years 2010 Howl-O-Scream event.. It includes my thoughts on "Alone", which are VERY positive... as well as all the houses and overall thoughts/reviews of the other houses... And as for alone... yes, you get a very cool T-Shirt for braving it ALONE... its $24.99 if you pre-purchase your ticket online... and I feel the EXCLUSIVE shirt is worth $19.99 by itself... so all in all, you'd be paying $5.00 to go through with that logic... you can also opt to go with 3 friends (4 people total) for the same price, but no t-shirt then... Overall I loved Howl-O-Scream 2010, repeat houses and all...

  6. Hmmm... If I had to muester a guess about how far you are in Other M... I'd have to say a bit more than 1/2 way... In my opinion, the difficulty level has ramped up to it highest at this point... only different enemy patterns... there is one more very difficult boss... (not to spoil anything...) and no, its not the final boss... very cool ending...

  7. Finished Metroid: Other M... great game... with a great ending... although after the credits, seems to be a bit more to the adventure which I haven't yet dove into... went on vacation very shortly following my comletion of the game and haven't picked it back up...

Now speaking of returning from vacation.. the next two titles were waiting for me in the mailbox upon my return home... (oh and had an AMAZNG time in Chicago and my first visit to Six Flags Great America... hope to get some picutures up soon...)

Playing "Ivy the Kiwi?" on Wii... fabulous game... old school puzzling platformer from the creator of the original Sonic the Hedgehog... A nice surprise... and its only $30... but I could only find a copy on-line... no stores in my area carry it...

Also "Disney's Guilty Party" Wii... I was honestly going to write this title off, due to the "Disney's" (figuring it was based on some crappy show, upcoming movie, or comic perhaps...), but thanks to some very positive reviews, I gave it a try... and what a game it is... It plays like a video game version of the boardgame Clue, mixed with the childhood favorite Guess Who... Its a blast to play... various difficulty settings to tweak with make it perfect for all ages... yes, even adults... the game is genuinely funny and entertaining... and once story mode is complete, party mode is left to tinker with... and that is where the fun stems from... completely random everchanging senarios... fun to play alone, but much better to play with a small group of boardgame fans... Nice job Disney, for hiding mini games in a challenging Clue like adventure...

Also re-playing for the um-teenth time - New Super Mario Bros Wii... just an amazing game...

  9. Holy crap... if that rendering is correct, it looks as if this resort will have interior corridors... for the suite buildings at least... and if I'm reading correct, the "Little Mermaid" standard rooms, which will occupy the existing buildings (former Pop Century 1940's decade) will remain as constructed... with outdoor hallways with railings... and the Suite buildings (not yet constructed) will have interior corridors (as seen in the Nemo rendering)... that will be HUGE with the guests... and a step in a great direction for the "value" brand of resorts... thats IF I'm seeing things correctly...

  10. Angry_Gumball... I love that you picked up to re-play those classic Metroid titles again... Super Metriod, Fusion and Zero Mission rank as some of the greatest gaming moments... Don't know if I'd even know where to go in Super Metriod to be honest. I haven't played that game since college (damn near 15 years ago...)... I own the silly thing on Wii's Virtual Console but only tinkered with it... got stuck pretty early on... I'll replay it once I'm done with Other M... I remember one of those boss battles to be "controller breaking" difficulty... I seem to remember it having A LOT of bugs coming off of it... was that Super Metroid?... maybe one of the GBA games...

Anyway, try not to stray too far from Other M (assuming don't hate it yet)... I know its difficult, but honestly, you have reached the height of its difficulty from what I'm expiriencing. I'm at "Nightmare", very close to the end, from what I'm being told. And many people say that Ridley was more difficult... He was no more difficult than that "Ice beam" fight (where you received the Ice Beam)... just faster, and different pattern... ALL the bosses killed me about a 1/2 dozen times or more... but I walk away for a little while and revisit with a clear mind and BOOM... within 2 more tries, I typically take them down... most are with the same strategy... Power shot and dodge... Power shot and dodge... occasional Missle to the head... rinse and repeat... Now back to Nightmare... and hopefully end this rollercoaster ride before my vacation on Wednesday (Chicago and Six Flags Great America for the first time...)

  11. Hey Angry_Gumball... I've been fortunate enough to have gotten the game during my days off from work (I work four 10 hour shifts so I still have today to play)... and as a result, I've shamefully clocked more hours than I care to admit over the past 36 hours (for me at least)... the in-game clock shows I've been playing for over 8 hours now... I JUST got the wave beam and Adams is ordering me to go BACK to sector 3 now... Not before warning me that the creatures have gotten "more aggressive" (oh great!!!) Currently I'm getting my a** kicked by some angry spider-ish creature at the top of an elevator right now... I got my rear handed to me twice then gave up for the night to get some food/drink/sleep... Oh and I couldn't agree with you more about the battle in-which you received the Icebeam... why oh why didn't Adams see me struggling prior and give me authorization to get an appropriate weapon sooner... I died about 10 times there... I love this game and also am giving it about a 9/10...

I might (or should rather) give the game (and myself) a break and take a ride over to Busch Gardens Tampa to ride some coasters and get some fresh air for myself... we'll see...

  12. Just came here to post that I'm playing Metroid:Other M too...

I too got stuck right after those damn worms (whick killed me about 6 times til' I realized what to do)... Okay, so I wound up on gamefaqs to see what to do next... and if you are still stuck, right near a save room, there is a new room (long and tall) where there is a "computer console" you can interact with, turning the "jungle, on and off"... with the "jungle off", in the top left corner of the room there is a door where you can only blast if you have super missles (which you don't)... if you "turn the jungle on", and walk towards the wall where the super missle door was, you can see a little piece of the wall which still exists in the lower right corner... turn into a ball and blast it with a bomb... turn the jungle back off and you can proceed... hope that helps... if you were even still stuck...

I'm loving this game... its very tough, but much better than many of the reviews are saying... great game...

  13. Agreed, that Kinetix stunt show was very imressive. I'm sad I only went to see it once this season. (which is a shame, since I generally visit the park 1 to 2 times a month...) And since it was towards the end of the Summer Nights season, didn't leave myself an opportunity to see it again. Hopefully BGT will bring it back again next year too... As for all that construction, I'm drooling more and more every day... Spring of 2011 (May I'm sure...) can't come soon enough... I actually went two weeks in a row (last Wed and this Thurs) and the construction walls near Caravan Crossing gift shop (near Nairobi Gate) had all new teaser photos on them in just that weeks time...
