Disney's Hollywood Studios - I just hate that park for some reason... I call for them to close it down for a year and re-open as "TAKE TWO"... then they could fix all the "attractions" which suck (to me at least) (ie: Sounds Dangerous, Backlot Tour, American Idol, Star Tours, Beauty and the Beast, Narnia, One Mans Dream ((yeah, it's time to re-vamp it))... I work at Disney and am not even sure if they do an Animation Tour anymore?!) That park COULD be good, but as it stands, I just dread going there when family is in town...
IOA - There's just not enough to do... The attractions they do have are great, but overall, its just a 1/2 day park to me...

Thanks for that video... It made me a bit teary eyed... SO glad I got to ride two weeks ago (8/25)... Amazing day at the park overall...
...And so here we are... Just one more short operating day for her... RIP Big Bad Wolf... You treated us well and you will be greatly missed...

We did it in a day trip from the DC area (Rockville, where my brother and his family live)... Its 3 hours each way... and TOTALLY worth it... if anything, I'd scrap Great Adventure and go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg instead, if given the choice... but that is my personal opinion... but its a tough drive being 6 hours in the car, but it was worth it... we left from DC at 6:30am... and we were back to the DC area before 10pm... I'd say if you are able to, then go for it! You won't regret it!... Heck, since you are looking to gain some history too, make two days of it, and check out Williamsburg too...

I just went on Monday(8/25) and the lines weren't bad at all. We did get the Quick Queue pass but I really don't think we needed it. The longest line was about maybe 10-15 minutes for Griffon.
Griffon was Amazing(Front Row....WOW)......The only ride that I was disappointed on was Alpengeist which wasn't that bad but was a little rough for some reason to me.
This was my first time at the park and had a great time!!!
I, too, was there on Monday 8/25 (Photo Report to come soon) and I agree that the park was not busy (line wise) at all!!... The longest line we experienced was Le Scoot (log flume) which was 20-25 minutes... otherwise everything was 15 minutes or less for us...
Apollos Chariot - Walk on front row when the park opened... then 15 minutes later on in the day...
Big Bad Wolf - 10 minutes at roughly noon... (it opened at 11:30a)
Griffon - 10-15 minutes at about 2pm
Alpengeist - 15 minutes MAYBE... 3pm ish
Loch Ness Monster - 5 minutes... 4pm ish
Surprisingly reasonable wait times...
5 min for the "Swings", Walk on for the Bumper Cars as well as Dark Castle (which we were pleasantly surprised by...)... (We rode those rides while waiting for Wolf to open...)
And I couldn't agree more that Alpengeist was just plain brutal!!!... The last time I was at the park, Big Bad Wolf was still relatively new (well, the last new coaster at least), so Alpengeist, Apollos Chariot and Griffon were all new to me this visit... and loving Montu (at BGT), was very excited about Alpengeist... Theme wise, nothing comes close to it... but ride wise, I just found it to be un-comfortable to ride... not rough necessarily to us... just plain forceful!! I felt like I was RIPPED through the inversions, and all the blood in my body rushed to my feet and hands... very strange feeling which I didn't really care for...
Anyways, you shouldn't really worry about the crowds mid-week, especially in September... And you can always opt for Quick Queue after you get there, should you feel you need it, but I highly doubt it!!
I had an AMAZING day on 8/25... and am glad I was able to say good-bye to Big Bad Wolf... She was a touch rough, but that was completely acceptable to me... you will be missed... RIP BBW!!!

I'm gay, came out when I was 18, haven't dated yet...I don't know, I've been asked out plenty of times but I chosen to remain single...I guess watching all my friends with their girlfriends/boyfriends and all the drama they sometimes have in tow has turned me away from the dating scene lol...but hopefully I'll find the right guy and soon.
No need to rush in the dating scene... I came out when I was 19... didn't truly and properly date anybody until I was about 25, and those were few and far between (not to mention failed attempts at a partner)... my first successful partner (of only a year) happened when I was 29... and now that I'm 34, I've been happily partnered and we've been living together for the past two years strong... Hang in there and don't rush...

^Love the comet
I rode this one with the yellow track last. I was in the park saying goodbye to a friend.
Funny... LochNess was the last one I rode too... Monday 8/24... Also saying goodbye to our friend (BBW)...

^^
Very true... his perception of the ride was very smooth, where others have felt it was rough...
(..I should have phrased it that way, but didn't re-read my post close enough... sorry about that, my bad...)
-
My partner rode it twice after work yesterday... Much to his surprise they were offering Team Member previews.. (he called me after work to tell me, but he wasn't going to ride as he just wanted to get home... I nearly demanded he go and ride it and not to be foolish...) He couldn't honestly tell me if he liked it whole-heartedly or not... He didn't DIS-like it and states its a "nice" addition to the park.. Three trains were running... He said the ride was SMOOTH (not rough as some others stated in earlier posts) but the audio was a mixed bag... it worked once and not the other time... He said they had VERY little time to pick a song the first time (which is the time it worked) and the next time attempted one of the "easter eggs" which will allegedly be included in the ride by meeting certain criteria and that is the time it DIDN'T work.. The audio was very clear (when it worked) and confined only to his seat (so he couldn't hear others choices, assuming the audio in the other seats were working).. The moving sidewalk on the load platform was not working which meant that the trains were stopping to let people on (I've heard that the load platform was supposed to be "non-stop" as the trains were supposed to advance forward slowly while guests were loading)... Towards the end of the ride, he said the very steep tight turns made him feel a little claustrophobic... Again, he didn't DIS-like the ride, but had trouble telling me that he overall liked it...
I'm really looking forward to getting to finally ride this coaster myself in the not too distant future (sometime after my vacation next week... going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg) and will form my own opinion of it... No matter what, its good to have this ride closer to opening to the public...

Just got back last night, from my quick get-away to Hollywood FL to see Kathy Griffin... She was outrageous!... Also to ride the Dania Beach Hurricane, which was only 6 minutes from the hotel we stayed in (just a coincidence?!... certainly not!!!...)
The Hurricane was AWESOME! We didn't hold our expectations too high as there was NOTHING else in this area ride wise... so when the Hurricane provided us with some incredible fun, speed and little surprise pop's of airtime, you could say we were plesantly surprised! We were laughing the entire time, everytime we rode... Rode 4 times, as we still had a 4 hour drive ahead of us to get back home, and wasn't up to driving home with a potential headache, which I could slightly feel coming on from our final ride (could be the de-hydration from the noon day Florida sun, mixed with the several beers consumed the night before...)
Oh, and we sadly didn't make it to Jaxsons, which was suggested by several people in prior posts... but not because we didn't want to... I forgot to bring the name of the joint with us on the trip... so we didn't get to dine there... maybe next time!... Thanks for the suggestions though!
Bear crossing... scary or funny... Hmmm... I'm sure there is a joke in this here bag of tricks somewhere... Not being sure of what may come running out of the woods... A giant hairy man or a little black bear, we didn't wait around to find out and sped off towards home...
Oh, and because we were in Hollywood to see Kathy Griffin, we saw this highway sign right near the coster... a random coincidence...
On our way home we wave bye to the Hurricane... You were such a surprise to us and will speak highly of you to all who ask...
Some pictures from the other side of the street in the go-kart parking lot...
My partner, Jonathan, thinking why the hell are we waiting in the SUN for this to open! Can't we find some shade... okay point taken and we did rest in the shade for the next 10 mintues before the ride opened...
Train done testing and ready for riders...
A little info to read as we await the coaster to open for the day...
Boomers... Great, we are here!
"Turn on Bryan Rd"... Oooo... That's MY name! QUICK take a picture!...

Heading down to Ft Lauderdale for the Kathy Griffin show tonight...
While down there, I'll be hitting up Boomers for some Dania Beach Hurricane love... Never been and am rather excited... I'll take pictures..
Then on Monday 8/24, my family and I will be hitting Busch Gardens Williamsburg to pay our respects to the Wolf.. And other coaster love too... More pictures you can be sure...
-
WOW... very much to my surprise and delight, while breezing through this TR you caught a picture of my partner... THAT is AWESOME... Thanks!!!
Oh, and you needn't be suspicious of the heavy winter coat... you see, Jonathan is from a region near the equator and finds the balmy Florida heat to be quite chilly in comparison... honest...

Just had a really bizarre thought about how Busch Entertainment sort of plays the "Me too" or Simon Says game of building new attractions...
BGW builds Escape from Pompeii.. Seaworld builds Journey to Atlantis...
BGT builds Kumba... BGW builds Drachen Fire...
BGT builds Montu... BGW builds Alpengeist...
SeaWorld San Antonio builds Steel Eel... BGW builds Apollos Chariot...
BGT builds SheiKra... BGW builds Griffon...
Seaworld builds Shamu Express... BGW builds Grover...
Okay... nothing I've said is a surprise to anybody... but here is where I'm going with this...
Last year, BGT dismantled Python (I know A LOT less significant than BBW, but hear me out...) to build Jungala (which is amazing by the way)...
Now BGW is in the same boat of dismantling a rollercoaster... in their world of Simon Says, are they going to build a family themed animal habitat too?!... or try and trump Seaworld Orlando with a Manta like flyer (I hope not)... or (hopefully) a true replacement of the family coaster which BBW grew to be?!... It crossed my mind last week while I was walking through Jungala and how Python used to stand where we were walking... Maybe BGW is planning a similar themed area since they seem to influence each other quite often... Just a thought...

Okey Dokey... I'm pushing my time limit to get ready for work, eh, but what the hell... Here are some more pics...
Okay, so the true reason we double backed through the park after Sheikra is because my partner said that I couldn't live without the Scorpion T-Shirt... and he was right... I secretly love my new threads... please don't be jealous of my new shirt...
Oooo... Dinosaur World... maybe next time...
I think you can see it a little better here...
Hard to see, but there is a partial rainbow in this picture...
On the otherside of the Highway we have Air Streams going into the ground?! Wait a minute... are we at Trailer-hendge?!
On our way home, took a couple of more pictures... if I were heading TO the park, this tree usually lets me know I'm close... with-in 20 minutes if no traffic... I like to call this "scary tree"... cause its scary and stuff... nevermind...
Just a very cool palm tree outside of the kennel...
End scene... ride over...
And down you go...
The adventure is about to begin...
Nearly hitting the wall...
And no, we didn't forget about Montu... it was the second ride we rode (it was broken down last time I visited, so we rushed over to it this time...) I feel that Montu is a tough coaster to grab photos of inside the park, so I got some while walking back to the car... okay, the truth is I forgot to photograph it, so I took THIS opportunity to do so...
We attempted to ride Lion for our last ride, but two trains before we were to ride, that track shut down for an unforseeable amount of time... so we ran back to Tiger for one last ride... (not pictured, but the techs came out and they seem to have removed the troublesome Lion train... it remained closed prior to us leaving...)
One more ride on Tiger, just because its usually not open when I visit for some reason...
More Gwazi love...
Okay, so I didn't really see where the otters fit into the African theme, but I don't care... SO CUTE I TELL YOU!!! One was chasing a little lizard while we were watching...
Tell me this isn't cute!!! Go ahead, TRY!...
These otters were in the Jambo Junction area, in the tank where the enormous crocodile used to be... while the croc was impressive, these otters were just too cute to say I miss the croc...
Lonely rhino... he (or she) seemed to be sad...
Rhino Rally, which we passed on today... (tends to be a very slow moving line even on slow days)... Also Kumba in the background... And it was at this point we discovered that Cheetah Chase (wild mouse) re-opened after being closed most of the day... we could at the very least see cars testing...
Double backing through the park to get more picutres, the elephants were out... (oh, and that storm never did hit!)

Have a few extra minutes... so I'll add the SheiKra photos we took...
And I'll leave this off for now, with what only I can describe as the largest ceiling fan I've EVER seen!!! Is that really necessary?!
One more try... too late... Okay, truth is, while I love video games, I suck at the rhythm based ones like Guitar Hero... so my timing is off in those games, as they are with my quick photo trigger finger...
Okay a little better, less tree this time...
I so wanted this picture to come out... but the tree got in the way...
Could this be considered the "backside" of water?!
Dropping into the unknown...
Another point of view...
Water feature anyone?!
Some fun stonework of SheiKra...
On the edge...
Some SheiKra Photos...

More pictures to follow shortly (more than likely tomorrow)... I have to run to work soon...

Hello All...
Wanting to take my new camera for a spin and having an extremely strong itch to ride some rollercoasters, decided to head over to the west cost of Florida to Busch Gardens Tampa (which is roughly 1hr 20min from where I live, in Davenport).. Also wanting to contrast some of the BGT rides, seeing that I'll be making a trip to Busch Gardens Williamsburg (not visited BGW in nearly 15 years) in just about 2 weeks time..
What started as a "lets go ride 2 coasters and then hit Adventure Island" (Tampa's Waterpark) turned into a 6 hour journey of coaster riding, picture taking, animal viewing and tons of sweating... yeah, it was nearly 7000 degrees out... Mmmm... maybe not quite, but almost... Never did get to hit the Waterpark that day. No regrets as the coasters and overall experience was AWESOME, as I'll document further down the line.
Well enough babble and lets get to some pictures... (Oh and please bear with me as I've not done one of these before... I apologize in advance if this is painfully bland...)
(And still re-sizing the remaining photos, so only 1/2 will be posted today. Will finish tomorrow after work hopefully...)
Enjoy!
On a hot steamy day, you can get an icecream cone like the man pictured... or grab an icy cold beer from the magically floating Bud canoe... (we see you canoe supports hidden by the potted plants... you can't fool us...)
More incredible stone work...
Some great stone work leading in from the Stanley Falls entrance of Jungala...
By the waters edge...
I love Jungala and am glad Busch Gardens did such a great job with it... Sorry they had to remove Python for it, but to me, the space was put to very good use! Miss you Python, but you should be proud of what became of your space...
Perhaps you...
One of these crafty creatures escaped its containment area last year... which one of you was it?!
Some seemingly great habitats for its inhabitants...
...complete with tigger slobber on the glass... (look closely, you'll see it!!)
Pretty kitties...
Jungala is the newest addition to the park, which is just beautiful...
Another Kumba photo, which didn't turn out like I planned it to... it was through netting on the bridge, and my trigger finger wasn't quite quick enough to grab the front of the train as planned...
Kumba still stands as one of my favorite coasters. From the first time I rode it back in 97, there is just something so amazing about it. Here is a photo of one of my favorite parts of the coaster, taken from the bridge leading to Congo River Rapids (and Jungala)... Hard to tell, but there was lightning off in the distance, which we could see while climbing the lift hill... AWESOME ride!!! Was also VERY impressed with the 3 train operation on Kumba today... nearly NO wait time except for the first and last rows...
WAIT... what's this?!... is THAT a T-Shirt to commemorate the coaster that is Scorpion... hmmm... well, thats unexpected... I'll pass...
...Scorpion in the loop... with the inevitable approaching storm, we grabbed these pictures, an icecream from The Oasis and huffed our way towards Kumba...
While I love Scorpion, we did not get a chance to ride today. The line was about a 1/2hr or better and storms appeared to be brewing in the distance...
A nice little tribute of BGT from the past 50 years. Hard to believe that the park has been here for 1/2 a century, while ever changing and evolving, still going strong! Thanks for the memories and history lesson!
Aaah.. A little tease of Howl-O-Scream... one of my favorite times of the year...
First coaster of the day... Gwazi... Usually an incredibly tough rollercoaster to ride, but today for some reason she was behaving MUCH better than usual... and much to our surprise, they were running BOTH sides of the coaster... having only ridden Lion recently, we went in to "punish" ourselves with some Tiger love... (blue train pictured)... believe it not, Gwazi was the surprise of our visit... while still rough, it just seemed a lot less violent today.. Rode it 3 times actually (once now, and two more times before leaving..) Additional photos later..

Sounds like a good time! I'm glad someone went on a Monday because I'm heading there on the 24th of August. I'm counting down the days!
^^^
I too will be there Monday August 24th while visiting my family in DC...
Glad to hear that the experience was so great and am looking forward to seeing that park after not visiting for about 15 years. It will be a bittersweet visit with the BBW closing, but that is the reason we changed our plans from visiting Hershey to going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I don't suppose that you grabbed any pictures to post of the BBW (?!)... either way, glad that you had a great time. Thanks for the pictures. Really looking forward to my visit.
What is your next park?
in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!

Busch Gardens Tampa for Howl-O-Scream 2009... And it was awesome!!!
