Come for the rides, stay for the human rights violations...as an openly gay male it sucks to know that I could be jailed for holding my partners hand while attending this park. But cool renderings, I guess...

Anyone else heard that Motocoaster is being moved from its current spot? Heard from a friend at the park that they’re currently trying to move it because it’s on a separate power grid than the rest of the park and has been causing issues it’s power outages in the campground area.

At the park today...Corn Popper is running! Also, looks like maintenance is doing something on Pirate. There's been two maintenance workers down there at the control panel for the last hour or so. Haven't seen the ride move though.

Does anyone know if the park is offering any after 4PM discounts this year? Or where discount tickets can be purchased in the WNY area?

Any idea how busy the park will be on Memorial Day (5/27) considering Ontario schools are still in session and its not a Canadian holiday? Have dinner reservations at 5pm and was hoping to be able to hit most of the major rides between 10am-3pm.

Yes, they’re going to put a park in BUFFALO NEW YORK over Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, San Antonio, Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, Washington D.C. Also, the only park with an on-site hotel and campground. They have a Live Nation, 24,000 capacity, amphitheater that regularly attracts some of the largest acts in music. If you’re taking population into account, remember that about 50% of attendees at SFDL come from the Toronto metro area...if you combine the Toronto, Rochester, and Buffalo metro areas you have the third highest regional population in North America.

Couldn’t care less about Disney or Star Wars but this looks breathtaking...really cool how from the pics it seems like you’re in a separate park and not just a “land” within a larger park. Very immersive!

Insider hack...LiveNation is running their $20 all-in concert ticket deal this week (thru 5/7) and it includes all shows at Darien Lake this summer. For $20 (taxes included) you get a lawn ticket to the concert, and all tickets come with free same day admission to the park. Even if you have no intention on going to the concert you can just use the concert ticket as a way for you to get admission to the park for $20 instead of the gate price of $37. Are they doing the free admission with a concert ticket deal again this year? I honestly wish they never did that deal. Makes the park basically impossible to visit for people who just want to go to the park, and not a concert. I went to DL the day of the Post Malone concert, mainly for Tantrum’s opening weekend, and the park was so crowded to the point where you couldn’t even move. I had to park in the grass concert lot wayyyy in the back, because the whole lot was full (should have been a sign to just leave). I did Tantrum after an hour wait and left. RoS had a multi-hour wait, due to the ridiculous one train ops. But I learned my lesson to never visit DL the day of a concert. It’s absolutely awful. Yes, freed admission on concert days is coming back in 2019. They would never kill this promotion after the success of the last 2 years. They routinely go from 6-8K attendees on a normal weekday to 15-20K when adding in the concert crowd. The amount of money they make off concessions from this crowd pays for it alone. \ The crowds empty out at 6pm to go to the concert and it usually returns to a ghost town for the remainder of the evening. Also, I don't think many people realize you can usually get a lawn ticket to ANY concert on Stubhub for $10-15 and it doubles as free park admission. Even if you have zero interest in attending the concert, it's cheaper than a standard 1 day park ticket.

There's been talk that Live Nation is in talks with Darien about potential upgrades to the performing arts center for 2020. Over the past few years some tours have been skipping Darien in favor of CMAC in Rochester and Lakeview in Syracuse. Some of the rumored upgrades that have were mentioned at the Town of Darien Planning Board meeting included: - Full renovation of backstage and green room areas. - Increasing venue capacity from 24K to 28K with additional lawn seating. - Renovated entrance plaza at the non-park entrance. - Removing the "tent" structure and replacing with a permanent roof cover. - New exits/traffic pattern to eliminate post-concert traffic. Also, they mentioned a couple of the acts playing the venue this year. The 1975, Kiss, Dave Matthews Band, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Journey, and Luke Bryan were all mentioned to play this year. It'll be interesting to see if Six Flags continues to offer free park admission with each concert ticket this year.

Had the chance to check out Fright Fest on Saturday night. We ended up getting to the park at about 7 pm...here's a few quick highlights: - The lighting/fog in the park is really great. The area back by Viper/Bumper cars held the fog really well and made it quite creepy. - Of the 3 haunts, Camp Scumshine is probably the best, had 2-3 legitimate scares in there. Hotel Terror is the longest (10 mins) haunt and most immersive, some good scares in there, but the line was quite long. Jungle Apocalypse was on the shorter side but they packed it with probably 10-12 scare actors. - The outdoor scare zones are a nice addition, the one down by ROS is the best, the costumes/makeup were great. - Lines for the rides weren't too bad (10-20mins) for most everything, ROS was just under 30 mins. - Food service was great, no lines, very quick service. Looks like shutting down the Mind Eraser portion of the park has allowed them to staff most of the park, even with a reduced workforce.

Yes, they shouldve done a better job dispersing them. If you were back by SV you could either wait 30min for chicken tenders or walk through the crowds to the front of the park and wait 15mins.

CP over the weekend...seriously migjt be the last time I ever give this place a shot during Halloweekends. The average line for any food/drinks seemed to be between 15-30mins which was an absolute joke. If you know you are severaly understaffed in the food service dept this needs to be communicated to patrons. Either bring in some food trucks or allow people to bring snacks. The lines for the rides were long, as to be expected, so we decided to instead focus on the haunts since we've been on all the rides this year. These were the lowest quality haunts I've ever seen in a theme park, however that wasn't the issue. Had these haunts still provided scares I could care less about set design (ie. HHN with amazing sets but a conga line ruining EVERY scare) but theae haunts didn't provide scares either! I didn't see one scare actor make an attempt to scare us in any of the haunts, most were just standing there, with one of them on their phone in Zombie High. We paid for a Fright Lane and it was an absolute waste of money, I truly felt bad for anyone that was waiting in line to do these haunts. The scarezones were just as bad, very few actors in any of them. Also, the Frontier Trail is literally just some bales of hay and a couple lights, its a joke. By far, the worst part of the trip was the condition of the restrooms (honorable mention to the Coke Freestyle locations and that gross-ness). The bathrooms were actually vile in every way. I walked into 2 bathrooms and walked right back out, it was stomach turning.

What I've heard from a couple people... - Hotel Terror will be beyond ROS, where the old haunts used to be. - Jungle Apocalypse is going in the picnic shelter area, there will also be a scarezone down there as well. - The other scarezones will be back by Twister, in between Tantrum and Mind Eraser, and the path between Predator and Boomerang. - All the coasters will be operating, in addition to Rolling Thunder, Giant Wheel, Haymaker, Lasso, Sleighride, Twister, Tin Lizzys and Rodeo Round Up.

The ride is going in the spot that currently has the go-karts.

Got some clarification regarding the Darien Square situation I posted about. Apparently, SF is going to be staffing the entrances to the campgrounds at the existing gates (Hotel gate and General Store gate) and constructing a new gate near just beyond the laser show area, down the hill into the campground. Darien Square will be an,area exclusively for campers, however, Beaver Bros and the Laserblast area will be open to everyone, thus why they need to build a new gate. SF reported to the park that this is due to the liability of letting non-camping guests enter into the campground and hotel areas. Theres been reports of theft in the campground while campers are away from their sites during the day and at the park, the few people they busted for theft were park patrons who walked into the campgrounds from the park.

What? I don't get the second part. Campground passes/access will be checked I presume What's going to happen to Motocoaster? You have pass through Darien Square in order to get to the ride's entrance and exit. Open the gate next to the queue Correct, I'd assume they'll re-route the queue fairly easily.

Have a couple friends that still work at the park and they were told the go-karts will not be returning in 2019. Also, the Darien Square section of the park will officially be closed from the park with new entrances/exits for 2019.

B&M's look soooo damn good. However, with their track record of forceless coasters the last 10-12yrs I'm not getting my hopes up.

The KOA is VERY basic, but has clean facilities. Its located in a weird area, behind some apartments, but for $30/night its great. About a 5 min drive to CP.

Anyone have experience using a local taxi service to get to the park while staying in Sandusky?
