Brilliant end to the trip report Craig, looking forward to your next one! Taken me by surprise, I expected a quite half assed attempt to make this new land, to get a quick buck, however, it looks very well thought out and put together, very impressed. I totally agree with the comments made earlier in this topic, that Blackpool is seen as a bit of dump, with not very nice locals, this is one of the few reasons I have yet to make a trip up North, good luck to them trying to shake this image and once again, great report! -

Oh man it feels good dusting off my old TPR account, like meeting back up with an old friend (only nothing like that at all)... Brilliant trip report there mate, was really funny and very informative, don't think I'll ever be able to forget that strange man's junk. Looking forward to part 2, want to see how well this new land fits in with the rest of the park, and what the new rides are like. In all honesty though, I think I would of preferred to see a sponsorship like this taken on by another UK park, as in MY opinion, Blackpool is quite an intimidating place for the young children and maybe, just maybe, that may subtract from how nice the new land is. That hotel looks awesome though, definitely the place you want to sleep in after a day of whoring coasters. Oh Craig, when you do find Spongebob, please kill him right there on the spot, good luck on the rest of your quest! -
Recently I've been thinking about the throughput for Kobra, I read somewhere that a Disko coaster has a throughput per hour of 1000, which is better than Fury. Now when I was at Paultons Park, Edge took ages to load, so what I'm asking is, is the 1000 per hour figure correct or are they having us on?

I'm amazed you managed to get pictures that good, as those fences are pretty tall! I'm very excited for this new land and I feel it is going to help secure Chessington as the UK's best family day out. Not sure if this has already been posted but the names for the attractions are as follows. Kobra, the new Disko coaster, Monkey Swinger, waveswinger, Tuk Tuk Turmoil Dodgems, dodgems, Jungle Bus, crazy bus and Temple of Mayhem, madhouse.

Love that post Craig, very funny and informative. I also loved that day, very fun trip! I for one will miss Beanoland greatly, it was definitely one of my favourite areas in the park and I remember loving it on my first visit to Chessington. As sad as I am that Beanoland is gone, I very much looking forward to the new area, because so far the plans look amazing!

Great quotes there Craig, I had such a laugh reading them! That smile cam is awesome indeed, never fails to take the most ridiculous pictures possible! I wish I had it, shame I don't have enough money to buy a camera as awesome as yours! Keep the updates coming, love seeing what you guys got up to on the big TPR trips, hopefully I'll join you guys one day!

PhotoTR - Brobee Visits Chessington!

That made me laugh so hard! Glad to hear you and Brobee had a good day out, keep these awesome trip reports coming! -
All I can say is WOW! It's about time Chessington got a new attraction and although it's not the coaster I was hoping for, a Disko looks like great fun, not to mention that theming in the plans looks great. I truely hope that Merlin can pull this one of, if they do, this will be one hell of a new land!

Awesome ending to the trip report! Made me laugh so hard! I think the girls of TPR should comment on my and Steven's pumping action, that ride needs to come with a sign saying guests may die from over pumping! You forgot to mention that we won at Fire Academy, thanks to me! -

What an awesome day out! Thanks for sorting it out Craig. Great report, some of those captions made me laugh out loud! -
Yesterday me and one of my best friends went to Legoland Windsor for the day. It was my first EVER trip to Legoland Windsor and I can't believe it has taken me 17 years to go there, I've really been missing out! The weather was great, the queues weren't too bad, the atmosphere around the park was amazing, everyone around was having an awesome time, which is what I love to see when I go out places. I had an awesome time and possibly the most fun I've had in a while! I must say Legoland is a very good park, with some great rides and I definitely recommend you to plan a trip there soon, I know I'll be going back again this year! Ride Count: 11 The Dragon - 1 - WOW, this little coaster really took me by surprise, in the good way, didn't expect much from it, but ended up loving it! Dragon's Apprentice - 1 - Oh yes, I'm just that cool! Jungle Coaster - 1 - Apart from feeling like a fish in a fish bowl thanks to those silly train covers, this is a fun little ride and a coaster you must do when you visit Legoland Windsor. Laser Raiders - 1 - Very fun! Love how interactive it is, as in when you shoot a target, theming moves or an effect is activated. Just thought you'd like to know I came 1st in the train! Wave Surfer - 1 - Didn't expect much from this but I don't think I've ever had that much fun on a ride before! Viking's River Splash - 1 - Hands down the best rapids ride I've done, very moist and rough, how it should be. Spinning Spider - 1 - Staggered off this thing, we were flying! Pirate Falls - 1 - Pretty decent log flume, loved the theming. Boating School - 1 - Nothing beats driving like a fool in a plastic Lego themed boat and I mean nothing! Rocket Racers - 1 - I really enjoyed this, it was great fun, oh and I won at this too! Extreme Team Challenge - 1 - Very moist and pretty fast, I couldn't help but laugh the whole way down!

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread

Nice idea Craig and some really great pictures you got there! -
Yesterday I went to Thorpe Park with my good friend. We went thinking the park was going to be pretty empty and well we were so wrong! The park was packed and rides were going down all over the place, yet we kept positive and had an awesome and extremely funny day! Ride Count: 11 Saw: The Ride - 1 - All effects running, queue-line atmosphere was amazing, I really do like this ride! Stealth - 1 - This was the coaster I wanted to ride most this trip. I haven't been on Stealth since last summer but let me just say the wait was worth it! Samurai - 1 - Very fun and forceful today! Slammer - 2 - This was the flat ride that I most wanted to ride, haven't been on it for ages and I loved getting back on this beast! Tidal Wave - 1 - Once again a ride I haven't done for ages, I haven't got moist on this thing since 2007 and I thought what the hell, let's ride it, got soaked and loved it! X No Way Out - 1 - Always a laugh if nothing else! Quantum - 1 - Just something about this ride, I can't help but enjoy it! Flying Fish - 1 - I've missed the fin action! Logger's Leap - 1 - No queue and as much fun as ever! I swear that drop is going to kill me one day! Storm In A Teacup - 1 - Cup didn't spin too great, so spent the whole ride laughing at stupid things! What a way to end the day, Stealth finally opened. While watching Saw, Samurai finally opened for the day. Something I have noticed is, Saw only squeaks in the afternoon and then it is only a few of the trains. Possibly my favourite picture of Colossus. Still waiting for Stealth to open we rode X and then had a little look around for rides to do. This was the queue for Fast Track in Lost City. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Don't worry the engineers have been called and the vending machine should be back in operation soon, however you may wish to experience the many other vending machines at Thorpe Park! This is the Fast Track queue for Inferno, I hope this shows you how damn busy the park was! After Tidal Wave, we sat watching Nemesis Inferno and I found this quite amusing! Only at Thorpe Park! But it didn't so we decided to do Tidal Wave, on the way to the lockers, I got distracted... After my little picture taking experience, me and my friend rode the teacups and had lunch STILL waiting for Stealth to open. I swear to god I'm mature... Oh and this one! I really like this pic! Lick It Now, Lick It Good! Then it was time for some FIN ACTION on Fish! I wonder if Chessington is as busy as Thorpe Park today... I feel moist already! Bose anyone? After doing Saw, Slammer twice and Logger's Leap, we rode Quantum and then I decided it was time for photos! Good thing we ran straight to Saw after this the queue stayed at 2 hours for the rest of the day. OMG Tarmac The Ride has been relocated to Chertsey High Street! I'm lost already!

Just got back from Chessington from its official opening day for 2009. I went with two of my best friends, which really helped to make this trip an awesome day out! Like Craig has noted, the park is looking great this season and I have to agree, it is looking much nicer than last season. Due to the weather the park was basically ours. Despite the lame weather the atmosphere around the park was great with everyone having a good time. A huge thank you needs to go to the ride operator Emma and to Sophie over at guests services. My friend lost her glasses on Vampire and straight after informing the ride team, the ride was haulted and a search was conducted by Emma, although the glasses have not yet been found, her details were taken by both the Vampire team and Guest Service. I was very impressed with the action taken and would like to say thanks to those who were involved. Afterwards we were informed we were able to get an exit pass to make up for the loss of the glasses, which once again was very nice of the park and I am very thankful. Ride Count: 15 Billy's Whizzer - 1 - Very moist! Roger The Dodgers Dodgems - 2 - Great ride for getting even with your friends, who had it coming after stealing the car that you wanted! Tomb Blaster - 2 - New record high score of 27400, granted only 3 people were on that train but I still proud of it! Dragon's Fury - 1 - It feels so good to get back on this spinning machine! Safari Skyway - 1 - Best bit of the ride is when you wobble the train! Just a shame that the audio wasn't working. Runaway Train - 1 - Riding in hail stones actually makes this ride more fun! Dragon Falls - 1 - Another very moist experience! This ride is looking very good this season, with the dragon being painted as-well as new rocks placed after the first drop. Bubbleworks - 1 - Moist and bubbly! The front of the building is looking great after a repaint. Vampire - 2 - I kicked a tree, my friend lost her glasses, it was raining and it was rough but you can't help but love Vampire! Rattlesnake - 1 - Call me emo, but I've missed this little ride! Black Buccaneer - 2 - This ride is feeling pretty damn forceful this season!

Thorpe Park - 14-03-09 Opening Day
Bootharawwwrrr replied to StealthFan's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Time for me to add my trip report! (Incase you didn't already know, I'm Will from yesterday!) Yesterday I went to Thorpe Park's opening day for 2009. I went with my friend Steven, but also met up with Craig and various other members of Theme Park Review throughout the day, those blokes were extremely welcoming and generally very funny and awesome! Thanks to Theme Park Review me and my friend were able to obtain FREE Unlimited Fast Track, which we NEEDED, due to how busy the park was and how many rides were down. Although the atmosphere around the park due to down time was pretty poor, the day was still one of my best ever trips to Thorpe Park, due to meeting with Theme Park Review members, riding Saw 4 times and getting on loads of rides! Ride Count: 19 Saw: The Ride - 4 - This coaster is better than I expected and I expected alot, amazing! Colossus - 1 - Although we were in the back seats and may have got headaches, this coaster is still great fun! Detonator - 1 - New restraints, new floor, same amazingly tense feeling and great free fall sensation! Nemesis Inferno - 1 - Got to do it in the back seats, very forceful and a great sense of speed! Rush - 3 - Great fun, love sticking my legs out, makes so much more fun! Samurai - 2 - Few subtle changes, same amazing ride! Vortex - 4 - For the first 3 rides it didn't do much for me, but on the last ride of the day, got a great swing and loved it! X:\ No Way Out - 1 - Just like Thrill Chill, almost pitch black inside! Storm In A Teacup - 1 - Me and Steven + Ben and Steve(from TPR) in the same cup = a mind bendingly dizzy ride! Rocky Express - 1 - So funny, couldn't stop laughing!!! Good Points!! : -SAW: THE RIDE! (area theming wise) -My friend is awesome as always! -SAW: THE RIDE! (inside warehouse wise) -Getting to meet Craig in person! -SAW: THE RIDE! (ride wise) -The staff were friendly and kind, something I never doubted they would be. -SAW: THE RIDE! (audio and visual wise) -FREE UNLIMITED FAST TRACK, can I say more! -SAW: THE RIDE! (atmosphere wise) -Meeting some great people from Theme Park Review! -SAW: THE RIDE! (it was just THAT good wise!) -Weather was very nice! -SAW: THE RIDE! (the merchandise in the shop, is very cool wise) -Pizza hut for lunch, pure bliss! -SAW: THE RIDE! (do you get the point now, I REALLY liked it!) -The security around the park did a great job of controlling trouble makers! Bad Points : -Travel there and back, due to trains, was pretty terrible -Major rides were closed all day -Downtime around the park was pretty poor -Saw closing after less than 2 hours operation -Due to downtime the atmosphere around the park was quite negative I would like to say a huge thank you to Craig and all Theme Park Review members who I met with, thank you so much for the Fast Track and for being so welcoming!
