Georgia/Florida Trip Questions
Daytona'95 replied to CP_RULES's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When in Tampa, you should be able to find discount tickets for BGA at a Publix grocery store. Best day to go from my experience is a monday, for whatever reason the lines seem to be shorter. While in park, i'd recommend that you enter when it opens, go to Montu first, then Rhino Rally, then go to each section in a counter-clockwise direction . This helps cut down on wait times till you catch up to everyone else in the Stanleyville area. As for the beaches, my understanding is that the gulf coast is usually quite flat, 1-2ft waves at best. If you have a rainy day(It is central florida, so you're bound to have one) visit the aquarium, it's a great family attraction. -
B&M Flyer Evacuation
Daytona'95 replied to Retro_Gaga's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Speaking from first hand experience, B&M flyer evac has two or three ride ops come out to the train. One with a really long screw pole thing goes to the back of each row and manually releases the fly-position lock bar. Then the ride ops will push the row into a sitting position (or you'll swing forwards like the above video) where they will unlock your restraints using a T-handle key, lift the shin restraint lever and by press a release mechanism behind the seat. Then you hop out of the train and they guide you back to the station. Evac on lift hill I assume is a very similar process. -
Spending much of the day at universal yesterday and watching HRRR I have some good and some not so good news. Starting off with the not so good stuff-The rings are not up yet nor could I get a time frame of when they will be up when I asked about them. Once I even got a response of "What Rings?" Also asking nicely and offering twenty bucks per person in station for a test ride on rockit does not work. Now for the good news- Earlier in the day I caught rockit's train running with all of it's flashy goodness of LEDs. (As soon as I figure out a way to get the video off my phone, i'll put it up unless someone beats me to it) I heard one person say something like "ooh sparkly" or something along those lines. Another plus is there are at least another two trains in the storage shed. As for an estimated time for opening, I was told gruffly go to rockits website.

^It does hurt. My shoulders and shins were sore for four days after hanging for 30mins when it broke down. The loop isn't all that bad, little strong near the bottom. (hopefully tomorrow I might be able to get some info from the Rollercoaster Physics app) And for the wing dip, only from rows 4-8 and on the right side will you get a sprinkle, or a soaked hand if you reach for it.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Daytona'95 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^ I am no way critiquing the lady who said it, its just the way she said it while in the station, with two trains loading/unloading, and one the lift that made me think of this thread, so I wrote it down and put it here.. -
So i'm going to put my two cents in on Manta Pretty much I had high expectations for this one and it delivered It was so good that it jumped to a tie with Montu for my all time favorite coaster after round one ( which is rare for a coaster to rank high for me after one trip) It took 14 trips through the line to get a ride on all 8 rows Round #6, We experienced technical difficulties and we hung around at the base of the lift for about 30mins before they got us (Fine by me as I have always wanted something like that to happen) 13.05 trips later, I still just couldn't get enough of it. Rows 1 & 8 are the best to me, with 7 and 3 being alternate choices and the rest well, has already been said so I wont repeat it anymore Ohh and of course a few pics of the well photographed ride from my phone.... By far the coolest series of twists, turns, and loop I have ever been on More Manta... we just couldnt get there...yet Ride Ops getting the rest of the train off. We had a really funny guy helping us off. I was on the car hiding behind the palm tree. Chain dog hiding above the brake...I had nothing else better to take a pic of during the removal of riders It just looked cool

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Daytona'95 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
On Ninja at SFOG many years ago (To a ride op on the lift hill) Why dont you let us roll back down the hill? (Ride Op) If I do that, you all will die On Manta Today 1. Why are they making us ride in the barf position? 2. There are 4 trains with 9 rows of four 3.(during the technical difficulties)Well, i'm glad it got stuck here and not upside down where they couldnt get to us... -
Sorry to bring back a pretty much dead topic, but today I received another free ticket from Universal that also came with 1-day 2park admission coupon.(and in no way am I complaining ) I was wondering if anyone else has either received one or know why they might of sent this one on top of the 7 day one.

Chairswing falls on guests
Daytona'95 replied to HEADCHEEZ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally saw the Crazy Bus incident, and what happened was that as the guests were getting off, the ride restarted and was e-stopped at the top with the woman hanging off the edge with her child. She was up there for a good twenty mins or so. Kinda scary, but it was the most interesting thing to happen in Daytona for awhile. bus.bmp The lady is the shadow of the side of it. Between rows 2 and 3. -

Track Spottings!
Daytona'95 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very true. Im suprised as many times as i have seen the pictures to these rides I never made the connection. So it seems that we are back to square one, with B&M taunting us with random yellow track and an incredibly hard to decipher barcode. -
Track Spottings!
Daytona'95 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^^Well the DL track is not damaged perse, but it shows quiet a bit of a rusting issue. With so much speculation on this topic alone, whats there to say that there might not be some secret deal to replace old Intamin track with new B&M track to just to throw everybody for a loop and open the first stand-up coaster in years? I doubt it, but you never know, it could happen. -
Track Spottings!
Daytona'95 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After rereading 40 some odd pages of absolute confusion i've decided to add yet another possible, overlooked idea it may be possible that the track could be replacement track for the Darien Lake B&M coaster that has been sitting in an side parking lot for awhile.(which as so happens, is a stand-up coaster) Look at the pictures from RCDB: http://rcdb.com/ig3472.htm?picture=4 Compare them to the well looked at track pictures on page one. The main difference is the old track has ball and socket joints like most older B&M's and the new track does not. But otherwise, its a perfect match. EDIT: I was unaware that Intamin made any rides using the box spine. I perspnally thought that was a B&M only type thing. That just blows my theory out of the water then. Darn.
