  1. Same here, hopefully I can stop by to SFMM, and Knott's when you guys make the West Coast trip, even if I meet up with you guys just for those days. It would be great meeting people from TPR and having some fun
  2. ^ Hairy spiders not my thing... < Enjoys drumming v Probably has played the drums once before
  3. The 90's brought "Riddler's" so yea I gotta thank B&M for that
  4. Actually the press release and speculation have been the driving force of this thread
  5. A common error, Moonsault Scramble (1983) was the first coaster to break the 200ft-tall barrier. My favourite coaster decade would probably have been the Golden Age of woodies - the 1920s. Ever thought that you were born in the wrong decade? Simon However, Magnum was the first true hyper coaster, so you are both right in a way. Thanks for clearing that up, that's a nice piece of info and pretty cool looking shuttle from the 80's ... I wonder if it had its share rough rides though lol 6.2 G's oh my!
  6. Yea I need to ride some of those good ol' woodies. I've been desynthetized from woodies due to the steel driven So. Cal parks that surround me... which isn't that much of a bad thing Am looking forward to Terminator at SFMM, maybe there's still a light at the end of the tunnel
  7. Well you could enjoy any decade no matter your age. There are rides that are much older than what they seem. I say the 2000's still are driven by innovation, in the 90's inversions were the name of the game, and the 80's for me just make me think of finally breaking the height mark of 200ft (Magnum XL-200)
  8. ^ hmmmmm... looks like stacked up popsicle sticks to me!!!
  9. I was just thinking that sometimes we ride coasters and never realize what time in history they were built. I always enjoyed Montezooma's Revenge and I forget it was built in the 70's. But I really enjoyed the 2000's because it took steel coasters to new heights, literally! (Excuse the pun ) What decade do you enjoy / or enjoyed the most coasters from?
  10. Yummy!!! That coaster makes me think about Starbrust!!! YUM!
  11. ^ well i just rode the Giant Dipper a week ago and if that's the best woodie in California then we're in trouble... by the way what about "Roar" or "Grizzly" are they any good? Even Ghostrider in a good day (which is rare) can edge out Big Dipper ^^ which are still 2 hours long! j/k LOL
  12. No clone cause I would probably be the first to complain... LOL
  13. Seriously though, and this isn't meant as a knock on GCI in ANY way, but when the rumors of it being a GCI woodie started surfacing what, 3 maybe 4 months ago now....did you REALLY expect it to be the "West Coast El Toro?" If you look at GCI's track record they are far more conservative and specialize in making "medium-sized" rides. I would not at all have expected a 200+ foot, negative G ejector airtime filled, or 4 to 5,000 foot woodie to come from them. And if this is what you expected, then I think you've set your expectations too high. I never expected anything more than "Kentucky Rumbler with odd theming." And that's pretty much what it is! --Robb You're totally right, I've never really paid attention to their track record so it was just me being stuck in the 2003-2005 era of "Bet I can build a coaster bigger, taller and faster than yours"... I kinda miss those days
  14. Not taking away nothing from the smaller woodies out there but just IMO would have liked to see a longer woodie... Just the thought of a "West Coast El Toro" was making my mouth water But am sure SFMM will please us with Terminator cause boy do we need a Woodie!
  15. Just for comparison, The Giant Dipper in Belmont Park in San Diego is 2600 feet. Thats pretty short for a woodie, even though I do agree the length doesn't make a woodie great but I would have LOVED it to be at least 3500 feet or longer
  16. You know that's exactly what I was thinking. The press release said what, over 2,850 feet? That's not very long for a woodie now a days And also it makes sense now that you point out the original POV posted did do some re-runs of the track. The POV that you posted does show more what a 2,850 foot woodie looks like.
  17. ^^Great point to make... Ghostrider comes to mind about maintance issues, pretty sad to lose all a coaster's glory because of lack of care for the ride
  18. ^ Thanks for clearing that up, I think I heard a rumor once that they had viper running backward which totally sounded farfetched ^^ So about the caps, am at work and we leave the caps lock on for our system. I'll try to remember next time.
  19. I WAS WONDERING IF SFMM EVER HAD ANY OTHER RIDE GOING BACKWARDS OTHER THAN COLOSSUS DURING FRIGHT FEST?
  20. THE PICTURE SHOWS THE FIRST DROP BEING KIND OF AN "S" CURVE BUT ON THE POV IT LOOKS DIFFERENT... I ACTUALLY HOPE THE DROP LOOKS LIKE THE PICTURE
