I can't foresee why this would be an issue, as long as they sign up for TPR, confirm their email, and purchase tickets before they sell out... I'll let Rob confirm this. Also, Rob can you tell us if there will be Breakfast included at KBF on Sunday? Also, any word on the verdict for the dinner option idea Saturday night? Thanks!

I believe they added the color backstage tour cards into the packets as they were picked up, and recommended that people should pick up their packets as groups to be in the same tours. Rob, I am totally looking forward to this event... S:EFK is going to be very cool... IF there is morning ERT that means that would mean we would be the first riders.... that is one big IF though! I am working on convincing my anti-coaster [but pro-disneyland] fiance to come to the Knott's day. No matter what, I CANT WAIT!

Robb, I noticed on CGA site that they say Boomerang Bay will re-open in May 2010. Can you confirm weather or not it will be open for us on the 16th? This may make my decision on weather to attend this day or not... I am definitely looking forward to the SFDK day though. Josh "it was great to finally meet you at WCB this year" Kaufmann.

sooo, who's excited for this!!!! i am so pumped, I can't wait. I'm getting a 4 day vacation out of it so it's even better, but man, all the coaster time is going to wear me out! I think I will have to try out some of the non-coaster rides at Knott's this time. I went for my first time ever last summer, and I spent the time just knocking out all the coaster credits that I could. Josh "super bummed about xcelerator but still insanely excited for WCB2010" Kaufmann.

I haven't heard anything about sell-outs... are there still tickets available for the Knott's day? If so, how late could we register? My girlfriend just informed me that she might be interested in coming with us to the Knott's day, even though she just had surgery last Friday. So she won't be going on many coasters, but she want's to just tag along so as not to spend a whole 2 days by herself in the hotel. Anyway, just wanted to know if there are tickets still available, and if you could let us know if there are any left from SFMM as well, just to kill 2 birds with one stone.

This is so awesome... WCB 2009 was my first TPR event, and if this even matches that [which it sounds like it undoubtedly will] its going to be amazing. My girlfriend may or may not come along this time, but I think my co-worker is coming for sure, so I have a new recruit. SOO looking forward to it.

Bay Area Bash! Six Flags Discovery Kingdom!
skaunit replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
pikbud, did you find a ride? I am considering going, and I would be driving up from san jose. While I would normally take the east bay side up, I wouldn't have a problem heading through SF. How many of you are there though? -
going to NY/NJ 4/23 through 4/27, SFGA on 4/26

just a little bump last minute to see if anyone wants to meet up and say hi. -
Where did the rush go?
skaunit replied to skaunit's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was about to ask what you meant by non OTSR, then I realized that's Over The Shoulder Restraints. I never thought about closing my eyes, I'll def. have to try that out... I'm headed to SFGAdv in 2 weeks and I am def. looking forward to Kingda Ka. I think flipdude hit the nail on the head though, its the Adrenalin Junkie that's causing it. It's cool though, because I can still thoroughly enjoy a coaster with good airtime, or good g forces, or X2 [because there's really nothing like it and its so damn much fun, its funny because it doesn't really have good g-forces, but i guess it has good airtime] Next time I'm on Goliath or Superman at SFMM i'll give the close eyes and twist method a try. -
Alright I have a question for my fellow roller coaster freaks. I searched and couldn't find a topic like this.... I remember back when I was in middle/high school, that I got a good rush almost every time I rode a "big" roller coaster... only on that first drop though. My home park is California's Great America, so I'm mostly referring to Top Gun, Demon, Vortex, Grizzly, etc. As I got older, It started to be only on the first ride of the day, so I tried to make the first ride of the day the biggest drop. Now, the past few times I have been to SFMM [which has the biggest coasters near me], especially my most recent trip for WCB [omg awesome time, SOOOO going next year], I didn't get that feeling at all the whole day, not even on Superman, which has what like 5 or 6 seconds of weightlessness? So, my question is: Do you think that this is because we become numb to that sort of thing over time and going on so many roller coasters? Or do some of you still get that pit-of-stomach rush? Am I in the minority or the majority? I would make a poll, but I don't really know how to describe it any better and im sure some people are going to be confused. I still get blood rushes from g-forces... one of my favorite experiences ever is on the back row of Tatsu going through that head first loop, man that is awesome, even better than the helix on Golaith. Though the first time I ever rode Goliath [before the brake run was so drastic] I blacked out at the end of that helix, first time EVER blacking out on a ride, even though it was just a split second. So anyway, thoughts? Opinions? Understand what I'm getting at? Any way to get that feeling again [lol]?

How Old Are You & What Was Your 1st Coaster?
skaunit replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am 26, about to turn 27. My first coaster ever was Top Gun [now known as Flight Deck] at California's Great America [then Paramont's Great America] http://www.rcdb.com/id80.htm It's possible that I may have rode a kiddie coaster before that, but I don't remember. I was probably 13 or 14, and I believe it was only the second season Top Gun was open. I was with some middle school friends, and they convinced me to go on it... I said I would but only if we could ride in the middle and I could take a middle seat. I remember they took the middle two seats and made me sit on the outside edge... and I was SO pissed at them. But I rode it anyway and have been in love with roller coasters ever since. I was SOO scared going up the lift, but I will never forget the rush of that first drop the first time, it was amazing. anyway, thats my story... i'm looking forward to my first milestone, coaster #50. -
hey guys, I'm going to be out in NYC, staying in Carlstadt, NJ. I fly in to La Guardia on Thursday evening. No car friday/sat, planning to be in Manhattan mostly those two days... then Sunday I rent a car to go down to Six Flags Great Adventure, and I'm keeping it monday because I have to fly out of La Guardia at 6am on tuesday. As of right now, I think Monday sometime I'm gonna head out to Coney Island. Though that's not set in stone. Curious, are there any other coaster credits in the area? I can't dedicate a whole other day to one because the people I'm going with wouldn't put up with it, however If there are any other admission-free, or low cost places could you let me know? And does anyone want to meet up for a short time? Anyone have any have-to-do's while I'm out there? lemme know. Josh "can NOT wait to ride the tallest and fastest in the world" Kaufmann

good to know guys, thanks so much for the insight. I'll cross my fingers that it won't be busy. My girlfriend will go on a few coasters, but def. not Nitro, Toro, or Ka. I think she'll probably go on batman and the other small ones though. it's too bad the re-theme Bizarro won't be open... maybe someday I'll be back in that part of the country and can check it out. This simple fact kind of makes me feel better about the crowds though... nothing new yet to come out for, so the people who only come once/twice a year won't bother yet.
-
DARNIT.... alright so I found out I have to do something in the morning in central park manhattan, then I will be heading back to the hotel late morning, catch a shuttle from the hotel to newark airport, then picking up the car and heading down to SFGA. It's looking like I won't get to the park untill 12 or 1, and it closes at 7pm. The question is, do you folks think I NEED the flash pass regular to get one or 2 rides on each coaster, or could it be possible in 6-7 hours without? I'm hoping for a light crowd on a sunday that early in the season, but who knows? Another question is- are there any single rider lines? or how do they look at single riders walking up the exit? Any clue? Thanks for any insight.

That is my friend Justin Morgan, he grew up in Ventura, but now lives in San Jose. I'm to the left of him, my names Josh. On that subject, if anyone else from team 15 reads this, lemme know, it would be cool to get your screen names. Yay for 3rd place! I haven't figured out what to do with my peice of sierra sidewinder but its certainly a treasure. once again, a million and one thanks to robb, the SFMM management trio, and everyone involved making this an AWESOME first coaster event, and I will be sure to come again next year [even if my body is STILL sore as hell from all the riding/walking.... I NEVER thought I could get coaster-ed out, but I did by the end of night time ERT]

oh, don't get me wrong, I will ride everything if I have time. I was just trying to gauge what to focus on, and what to expect. I'm hoping to get to the park before opening, and go straight to Kinda Ka if its open. I would love to get 2 rides in. anyway, hopefully someone will chime in here that might meet me there that day.

Thanks for all the insight... So I can skip batman without question... Could I even count that as a new credit? LOL. Good to know medusa is a mirror of scream, so I won't be so bummed if it's not open. I'll be sure to check it out if it is though, just for the re-theme. I never took the time to ride Cobra at SFDK, lol... I may next time I go... I guess im more of into getting credits now that I'm involved in TPR. If anyone would come join me for my ride on Ka and El Toro that would be sweet. It looks like I'll be going sunday, 4/25.

awww man... i would have thought by that point in the season they would be open 7 days... and it turns out that there is a girl scout and boy scout event the weekend of the 24th and 25th. HOPEFULLY that won't mean long lines. Does anyone know if Medusa has a clone anywhere on the west coast? Or any coaster in the park for that matter? If there's something that I have already been on, even with a different theme, I can probably skip it. I have been on everything at SFMM, California's/Paramonts Great America, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. I REALLY like Tatsu, but its the only B&M flyer I have been on. I rode Stealth a few times at PGA but don't remember it to well... but that wasn't a B&M. there's a slight chance I can't go on saturday or sunday, but I'll most likely figure it out. I'll be in the area with a large group of my girlfriend's family, and they all got these 3 day NYC tourist passes, but they have to be 3 consecutive days... so I dunno... we will see. So, what is the likelyhood of Kingda Ka not opening for a whole day? That is really the #1 reason I want to make the trek...
-
Sooo, I was looking for a SFGA discussion thread, but couldn't find one, so I decided to just make my own post. Does TPR have more of a west coast and midwest following/member base? That may be why... ANYWAY, My first question is: IS there anyone who would like to join me for my first ride ever on Kingda Ka? I will be in New York from 4/23 till 4/27, flying out very early on 4/28 [which so happens to be my b-day]. I haven't figured out which day to go to the park, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try for monday the 27th betting that will be the slowest day there. I'm not quite sure who will be going to the park with me, but it is highly likely that I will be the only person wanting to go on Kinda Ka, so I would love to meet someone out there to ride with. Does any one know if there are any 2 for 1 coupons, or any coupons online or anywhere? Also, is there any rides to AVOID? I will most likely go on everything once anyway, but what should be low on my priority list? Is this a park where I can most likely get on everything in one day without a problem? How are the lines on Kingda Ka? Anything else I should know? *edit - realized I'm actually going on the 26th sunday
