  1. A few things/questions: Is anyone planning on hitting up the park Friday, before WCB? PM me and maybe we can meet up. Next, while I have been to USH before, I cannot remember it at all, so it will be almost like going the first time. Should we expect it to be light crowds, medium, or busy? Since the holiday weekend is this weekend I am hoping that pulls some of the crowds away from next weekend. Also, should there be a plan of attack for hitting up mostly everything on a friday if we get there at opening and stay most of the day? When is best to do the tour? Anything that is a "must-ride" or "must-do" for a "first timer"? Thanks guys!
  2. Will there be a q&a session at SFMM? *edit - will there be a "grill the staff about twisted colossus" session at SFMM?
  3. why is this thread so dead? Were almost a week away! Should we be expecting an email with the details soon? I'm getting excited and I'm not trying to hide it!!! (look at those normals go...) [/random_arcade_fire_reference]
  4. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would definitely call it Vagina. Edit - Ooooo, "Colossal Vagina" would work! I'd just have to clarify if I'm talking about the ride or my ex girlfriends. TAKE THE TUNNEL!! I know this was pages back but OMG it had me rolling!!! Post of the week anyone? Actually, you know Robb, that would be something really cool to do with the forums... Post of the week...
  5. I'm getting excited! Cant wait for the details email... (anxiously taps foot) It seems my friends and I are the largest group so far to plan a trip to USH on friday. If anyone wants to meet up, pm me and I'll give you my phone number for text. Kayoss, Thanks for the heads up on the HH discount. Do you know if that discount is available to all SF gold passholders? Or only the ones who purchased their gold pass at Magic Mountain? My friend (Scvnizzle) that I'm going with has a gold pass from SFDK I believe. Irregardless, I am sure there will be other SFMM Gold passholders at the event to pair up with. I am sooooo looking forward to this, gonna be a much needed mini vacation before my 2nd son is born in November!
  6. sorry to hijack right after your post KB... Does anyone have any idea when they will release Halloween/Octobers schedules? I am trying to plan a trip with 9 family members and they haven't even released the PARK HOURS, let alone any kind of entertainment schedule for October 3/4 when we plan on visiting. Does anyone know if Fantasmic (SP?) runs on the nights of Mickey's Halloween Party? I hear the lines for rides die significantly during MHP? Is that true? Thanks for any insight guys...
  7. I'm going with my friend, his wife, and their 1 year old, spending the day Friday at USH. It would be cool to get a group together for a few rides or to hang out for part of the day. A few days before we should exchange numbers or something.
  8. I just got my tickets to both days, pretty excited! I missed out last year... So there's 3-5 of us heading to USH on Friday the 5th, does anyone else plan on hitting up USH? Wanna meet up? And also, Robb: Is there any possibility of Magic Mountain having any coupons for us, specifically for Hurricane Harbor? I vaguely remember past WCB's where they gave us coupons for various things throughout the park, and my group was considering heading to Hurricane Harbor during the afternoon between lunch and night ERT. Anyone have any links or sources for coupons to Hurricane Harbor? TIA...
  9. Unfortunately, not. Sorry! On a vaguely related note, is there any possibility of some kind of discount or coupon or something for folks who would like to go to Hurricane Harbor during the day while there's nothing else going on?
  10. Hey Robb, Is there any chance of bringing back a scavenger hunt or anything remotely similar at SFMM this year? KBF fills our day so well, but for the SFMM day it just seems so empty the past few years [i didn't attend 2013 though], espeically compared to my first year at WCB back in 2009 [construction tour of Termapocinator]. *edit it was 2009 which was my first WCB, and that was the construction of terminator... 2010 was "take the tunnel" I'm not complaining by any stretch, simply curious if we have any games/activities to look forward to for the SFMM day outside of ERT?
  11. well, I guess the best, most educated numbers to use would be the percentage of likelihood a person would be injured on a ride, vs. any number of other activities, like riding in a car, taking a flight, brushing your teeth [as someone here stated recently], etc. For this, we would need the total number of rides taken either in america or globally over a set period of time, and then the total number of injuries or deaths for the same period. And then to be the MOST accurate, we would need the same numbers for the comparison activity over the same period. If anyone has any articles/studies/sources for any of these numbers that they could post, that would be awesome.
  12. I was catching up on the SFMM thread a few weeks ago and wanted to post something about this, but with the recent accident I thought I'd start a new discussion. Most of us enthusiasts like to spout off about how much more likely someone will get hurt on the way to a theme park, or in a plane crash, than on a ride. But anyone who's even briefly studied statistics knows that just comparing total numbers doesn't really give any real information. What we really need is context. For example, if the average American takes 4 flights a year say, and rides 20 thrill rides... How does the chance of injury compare? You can't just say 400000 people died in a car accident vs 2 on a thrill ride. So my point is, has there been any studies or articles that really take an accurate look at the statistics on a national and/or global scale?
  13. WCB 2012: My son was born 8/25/12 so that was a no-go WCB 2013: My son had just turned 1 and I was SUPER broke so that was a no-go again... WCB 2014: I am SOOO THERE! Super excited to get to come back to WCB after going 4 straight years 2008-2011. I CANT WAIT for ERT on Lex Luthor, X2, Excelerator, and yes Yolocoaster... One question, can we expect that Batman will still be Namtab? [backwards] I haven't quite been keeping up with the community or rumors or anything since I had my son, who may or may not be attending with me, since my wife and I are expecting again, due Thanksgiving, and unsure if she will feel up to going [she came in 2011 and had fun].
  14. Heading out to the park tonight with a group of 5, it was the only night everyone could go. I know to expect heavy crowds, but am excited to hear they are staying efficient with the lines. Can anyone comment what mazes would be best to hit at the back of the park to be efficient? Should we wrap toward goldy, or flight deck? Anyone else coming out tonight?
  15. Thanks Elissa... makes me a little more committed to getting to West Coast Bash this year... the only challenge is we are having my son's 1st birthday the weekend before. Anyway thanks for the update. PS..... Any idea when we get more details on WCB?
  16. So, has there been any discussion about a possible bay area bash this year? With 2 new coasters, it would be awesome to get some ERT on them and get some behind the scenes stuff and/or just general bash goodness. If not a full bash event, maybe a TPR weekend? I mean even if Rob can't make it out, I would assume he would still be involved in the planning/communication process with the parks. I was really bummed I didn't make it out to the previous bay area bashes and looking forward to a possible one this year.
  17. I'm gonna be honest, I think I like it better than apoc! Soon much floater airtime on this thing, and just amazing pacing throughout. It's super fast, and after a ride in front, back, and middle it gives a slightly different experience in each. The middle felt the fastest. Best woodie in California (and I've rode them all). Is it better than flight deck? How do you answer that? It's apples and oranges.
  18. T-minus 16 hours. I can't friggin wait! I'll be in a brown zip hoodie and blue jeans. Looking forward to seeing the folks I have met, and meeting some new tpr friends!
  19. They haven't announced it yet, but they did announce the first rider auction rides will be on may 8th, so it can be assumed the public opening will be the 11th, the first public day after that. But I wouldn't make any non-refundable travel plans based on that date until the park confirms it. Shoot, I signed up for all 3 days, thinking I would be lucky to get in on one of them... but I'm supposed to work all 3 days... I can only do one, tomorrow. Now I feel bad. I am going to let them know that tomorrow when I am there. Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Can't wait!
  20. Thats funny, I was thinking the same exact thing when I was looking at the construction pics. How may of the GP are going to say "oh wow, they re-modeled hurricane, but I bet it will still be crap"...
  21. Woohoo, I'm gonna be there Tuesday too! Can't wait!
  22. Did anyone get a response for the promo shoot?
  23. so yeah, i signed up too. ive been checking my email box constantly, but I don't expect to hear until tomorrow. Seems very un-detailed for selection of people, I'm guessing it will be random so my fingers are crossed!
  24. I gotta be honest, I didn't think the footage looked that much better than the first one that was released. The lift hill looked better, but once they got over the crest, the rest of the ride seemed to break up pretty badly. Not sure if they just didn't render it out at that high of a bit rate, but this is what I'm seeing on my screen:[attachment=0]Screen Shot 2013-04-19 at 12.30.44 AM.png[/attachment] I actually thought the same thing robb, I just didn't think it was all that important. It would be though if you were compiling say a long HD video of all CGA pov's...
  25. totally psyched for this now! I can't wait. I am so gonna be there opening day! So will opening day to the public be may 11th? The 10th is a physics, science, and math day, and I looked at the details and Gold Striker is not one of the rides listed as operating for the event. And, in other news, I don't really want to shell out $50 for a fastlane pass, but I think I could do $35... if there is a group getting the fastlane and I can join in and get one more for $35, pm me so we can arrange that pretty please... thanks!
