^That was my problem with the Green Lantern queue as well. They have those decorative awnings that cover roughly 1/500000th of the queue I'm planning to go back to Gadv sometime the week of June 13th. Any ideas as to if it will be crowded or not? I thought a wednesday in May would be empty but apparently not. I went last year around the 15th of June and the park was virtually empty, so hopefully it will be like that again

I noticed recently that sometimes before I go to bed my heartbeat will feel irregular, like it's fluttering. I never really linked it with riding roller coasters but I think that may be the cause. I've been riding them pretty frequently for over 15 years without any problem. Anyway, I've never ever felt weird, sick, or dizzy after riding a roller coaster but during the summer is when I'll experience the irregular heartbeats. It won't happen right after I get off the ride and it won't even happen that night, but the night after I'll notice my heartbeat feels a little odd. It's not uncomfortable and it's not painful - the only way I can describe it is "weird." It continues for maybe 2-3 days after. I just went to a park 3 days ago so I'll be sure to pay attention. I found this article on the topic: http://news.healingwell.com/?p=news1&id=529168 "In this study, nearly half of the participants had irregular heartbeats or significant sinus arrhythmia after the ride came to a stop." That line makes it sound like it's a common occurrence after riding a roller coaster, unless I'm reading it wrong. Can anyoen shed some light on this?

So, I might be planning a trip to BGT. I haven't been there in over 10 years so I think it will be worth it as I don't think I've ridden 75% of the coasters there. Just a few questions: In June/July how are the lines? I'm assuming weekdays would naturally be less crowded? I guess a better question might be how are their operations? I have no problem with lines but Six Flags parks have made me realize that having zero shade when the queues are right in the sun is miserable. I don't even remember how the lines were when I went last time

I paid for them to be shatter proof, but I'm not sure exactly how that works since I've never been in a situation that would require that until now. And I think there were probably signs. The ride ops look right at my face and don't say anything about the glasses so I just leave them unless it's a launched ride or particularly rough. Again, I know it's my fault. I'm just wondering if anyone has had experience with this situation and actually gotten the item back. I know the part of the ride where they fell off but they could've flown pretty far I guess. When I went to security/lost and found, it seemed like they were pretty successful at finding lost items and the lady working the counter told me they usually find glasses, but since there are so many, it's hard for them to identify the owner. I'm not sure if this is the case if the item was lost during the course of the ride though

I noticed some groups had the physics day packets (thought this was only on Fridays though) and there were a ton of buses in the parking lot, but a lot of the crowd was also just young adults, couples, etc. I don't know if KK ever had a full queue since we never even waited until the line was completely empty right after it re-opened. I don't know about Nitro or Batman: TR since we never went back to that area. Bizarro was definitely almost full though; half of the last set of switchbacks (or first, depending on how you look at it) were filled. El Toro had a completely full queue around 3:00 when we checked, and it was still 45 mins - 1 hr at 5:00, but it definitely died down completely at the end. Green Lantern was around an hour, maybe a little more. We didn't even see the switchbacks behind the station and were seriously considering getting off the line at that point, but we stayed just to say we did it I guess. I noticed the loading was kind of sporadic. Sometimes they would stack all 3 trains for a few runs, and sometimes they would get the next train out really quickly. This was around 4:00 pm btw I know a lot of schools on Long Island, NY actually have off the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. The snow days this year knocked off that day off from some schools though. Also, during my senior year of high school, senior cut day was on that Friday so that our Memorial Day weekend would be extended. My friends and I went to Gadv as a result. I'm not sure how popular it is to do that, but something to consider as well as what YoshiFan already said

I wear my glasses on everything except for launched coasters and it's always fine; I think I've ridden over 100 different coasters and nothing's ever happened. They have really tight nose grips and are just pretty secure in general. I completely forgot that back in October I got new glasses without the nose grips. At SFGadv, they were fine on Nitro and Skull Mountain, but Batman:TR claimed them as my head bumped around on the zero-g roll. Luckily I had a spare pair of glasses in the car but they were slightly lower in prescription strength. Obviously, it's completely my fault. I filled out a lost item form and I'm just hoping they'll find them. I know it's a crapshoot with glasses but maybe the fact that mine are semi distinctive (thick black frames without nose grips) will help. Should I call them in a few days to follow up or is Six Flags generally good at contacting people? The glasses were kind of expensive and I need to replace them soon so I can, well, see properly. I'm just not sure how long to play the waiting game with Six Flags Definitely learned my lesson though. Just not wearing the glasses at all anymore unless I get the strap for it

I went today and the park was actually pretty crowded unfortunately. I was hoping it would be empty but I guess it could've been much worse. Some comments: -Green Lantern was okay. It was fun but I'm not really a fan of stand-ups. I dunno if I'm doing it wrong or something, but my legs feel weird during the really forceful parts even though I listen to what the ride ops say. Also, it was really funny that the ride ops had to announce to everyone not to sit on the ride -I feel like the queue (for GL) is kind of bad in terms of shade. They have random small snipets of awning over a few parts, but we were dying in the sun -At the beginning of the day, Nitro, Batman: TR, and TDK were all walk-ons, but the park got really crowded around noon and stayed that way until closing basically. Bizarro's queue was almost completely filled, GL was filled up until the area before the first switchbacks right at the queue entrance, and El Toro was completely filled at one point. -Kingda Ka broke down a few times. The last time it went down for about 2 hours and didn't re-open until around 5:30. We were lucky and happened to be around when it re-opened so we got a walk-on. They were only running one side and weren't loading both trains at once though -We saved El Toro for the end (around 5:30) and it was about a 10-15 minute wait. As it got closer to 6, it was basically a walk-on and we went on 3 more times. -Didn't bother with Superman but I heard it broke down at least once and the line was really long. Rolling Thunder was as painful as ever. Only one side was running. Overall, I had fun but I think my SFGadv trips have been getting progressively crappier and crappier. Also, the shade problem has been getting worse. I remember Toro used to have a bunch of awnings and I could've sworn Bizarro used to as well. Now they have nothing. It's okay if it's not hot out but when the sun is beating down and it's clear that everyone in the queue is suffering...

A group of friends and I are planning to go to the park sometime early next week (mon.-wed.). Has the park been crowded lately with all of the class field trips? It's also been raining here basically all week and it's supposed to continue into next week with scattered thunderstorms. I'm obviously going to keep checking the forecast since I know the long range predictions aren't that accurate. But will GAdv close down the entire park early i there's inclement weather? I know SFNE does that

SFNE + Lake Compounce on Columbus Day weekend?
JDo217 replied to JDo217's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Slight change of plans. If I were to do this Saturday would the crowds be terrible? With only 4ish hours in each park I'm a little worried. Just need some more feedback on this -
SFNE + Lake Compounce on Columbus Day weekend?

Awesome. We might just do the haunted graveyard for the hell of it, since I've never done it before -
I have a choice between saturday and sunday. I'm guessing saturday would be more crowded? The plan was SFNE from 12 pm - 4:30 then LC from around 5 till closing. What time does LC open? It says "dusk" till 10/11 so I took that to mean 5 but I dunno. Also, should I expect that weekend to be extra crowded, even on a sunday?

To the guy going to Lake Compounce soon, this is what the place looks like at 8 PM. Not really dark out at all yet. But by 8:30 it was almost completely dark outside. Unfortunately the line for Boulder Dash closes around 7:50 August 14th Being that I'm moving into my dorm on Sunday, my parents were with me and we decided to check out Kemah Boardwalk. We only spent around two hours there in the evening but the heat was BRUTAL, even after 9. The Boardwalk Bullet was pretty good; nowhere near the top of my list but the two big drops were surprising. We sat in the back and I honestly didn't get that much airtime. My dad said that was one of the roughest woodies he's been on but I honestly didn't think it was that rough. The little ups after the first drop were bumpy but that's it. I didn't have much time to take many pictures so these will have to do. I'll have plenty of chances to go back though Boardwalk Bullet! I wasn't too impressed though

As a freshman of course. At first I was incredibly happy to be going away to college. But in the past week I've been getting so nervous and anxiety is at its high point now, although I'm staying up the rest of the night so I'm a bit tired (don't see any point in sleeping when I have to be up in two hours and I can just sleep on the plane ride). I think I spent time with almost every single one of my friends today and the more I see them the worse it makes leaving them! At this point it's really just an extremely nervous kind of excitement though. But at least I'll get to go to Kemah Boardwalk for the first time in my life either tomorrow or this weekend

I'm actually going again tomorrow (8/11) since one of my friends offered to drive. I'll let you know how sunset is and if it's dark by 8

Lake Compounce/SFNE on a Saturday

^Unfortunately I'll be off in college in October I'm going again on Wednesday as a friend offered to drive. I'm going after 5 again but is there actually a parking fee? When we got there last time all but one of the parking booths was open. We saw the sign that said $7 for parking but there was no one working in the booth. Needless to say, we were really confused. We just drove through and it looked like everyone behind us was extremely confused too -
Which Coaster Gives The Best AIRTIME???
JDo217 replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm gonna repost in a more organized fashion: Best moments of airtime: -Maverick's first airtime hill -Fahrenheit's airtime hill -El Toro's airtime hill over Rolling Thunder -Bizarro's 4th hill in the front and back rows -Cyclone's (SFNE) first drop in the last car Best coasters with airtime: -Boulder Dash -Bizarro -El Toro -
August 7th I don't really feel like typing much so I'll just let the pictures (and captions) do the talking. But I will say Bizarro in the very front and back was amazing. And my first time at Lake Compounce was incredible. Boulder Dash at night is one of the most insane experiences ever Pardon the picture quality. All I had was my cell phone with me We're next for the front row! Only the best ever! Intense airtime hill. And the next one only gets more intense Happy riders This was the line around 12. Needless to say, I'm glad I had the gold flash pass Pretty sexual for a kid's ride if you ask me Now for something different. The line was really long though for a boomerang One of my least favorite floorlesses. We didn't even bother to do it with the flash pass since we already had the credit It really will erase your mind... Lake Compounce was an awesome little park...too bad my phone's camera ruined this shot First view of Boulder Dash! Their sky ride was exhilarating! I don't think I've ever been on anything like it except maybe a ski-lift Awesome views of the park to be had... fastest before el toro maybe... ZOOM! At night it seriously felt like we were going 1000000 mph Even though I don't drink soda, free soda is always awesome The bunny hills were one of the best parts and the triple up was ridiculous The pirate ship was pretty awesome, even though my phone refused to take a decent picture of it at sundown These ride ops were AWESOME. The guy with the fro got everyone hyped up like I've never seen before This is the only picture I have of Wildcat and quite frankly, I'd like to forget I ever rode it. It is hands down the most painful ride I've been on, trumping even Mean Streak

Out of curiosity, is there any way to ride Boulder Dash at night other than on a Saturday night? -
Lake Compounce/SFNE on a Saturday
JDo217 replied to JDo217's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Went for the gold flash pass at SFNE. I think we marathoned Bizarro 10+ times or something. I rode the front and back and I have to say I like the back better. The front had better airtime on every hill but the back had excellent airtime too, plus a wicked intense first drop. Lake Compounce was definitely something special and is now one of my new favorite parks. I did get a chance to try the sky ride and it was insane. I don't think I've ever been on a sky ride more than two minutes long, let alone one that takes you up 700+ feet. Boulder Dash was INSANE and is quite possibly my new favorite coaster and without a doubt my new favorite woodie over El Toro. We rode it once close to sunset then three more times after dark. The night rides were just a mind**** and I had no idea what was going on except that I was out of my seat way more than I was in it. For some reason sitting on the right gave me more airtime, and was a little less shaky. The last car was verging on slightly painful too, but was a blast nonetheless. Also, the BD crew was AWESOME. I seriously have never seen such excitement for a ride. Ever. Both on part of the ride ops and the riders. Just wondering, has BD gotten rough over the years or stayed pretty much the same? Wildcat was PAINFUL. I rode the last car of SFNE cyclone and found that to be fun, if not slightly painful. I can usually take bumpy rides but this thing was just outright terrible. I'll post pics later. I think I have a thread for all of my summer trips -
Lake Compounce/SFNE on a Saturday

Thanks. I've been asking around elsewhere and everyone has said Merritt is rhe way to go too. This is a stupid question but is the flash pass line for Bizarro one that merges with the standby line at the station or one that uses the exit? Also, what about the other rides? -
Busch Gardens Europe/KD on May 22-25?
JDo217 replied to JDo217's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks. Also I just saw on KD's and BGE's websites that in May up until Memorial Day they only open on weekends. I'm guessing that's how it is every year?
