  1. Has GCG opening made Bizarro's wait any shorter? Nice TR btw
  2. awesome! a new type of coaster would be cool, but i would be way more than happy if this was just a sit-down megacoaster
  3. Was the train full? It looks like it would be a pretty awkward climb out of the train for anyone in the first and last cars. I don't know how these evacuations works though
  4. I can't help you with the clue itself but as for uploading the picture, it depends on what kind of phone you have. I'm assuming directly uploading to your post isn't working on your phone. If you have a twitter app, many of them upload your pictures to sites like yfrog and twitpic automatically, but the drawback is that you need a twitter account. also, you can try image hosting sites like tinypic and imageshack hope this helps :/
  5. Holy f***ing batman! Just skimmed through the before and after pics and that's incredible. Awesome job
  6. ^I personally think El Toro's airtime has a bit more of a controlled feeling simply because of the hydraulic lap bars. Every single hill on El Toro is probably more forceful than anything on Cyclone, but since you have so much room to move on the latter, you really get that omgwtfamigoingtodie sensation It's been about a year since I've been on Cyclone, but IIRC in the back at the beginning of the first drop, you get one really sudden pop of airtime that tosses you right into the lap bar. You come back down for a second that get tossed all the way back up for the rest of the drop.
  7. ^The very last row on Cyclone is actually terrifying. It felt like I was going to be tossed clear of the park
  8. I searched both on google on using the forum search for a general discussion thread but couldn't find one, so if it exists just lock this. Anyways, how has LC been this season? I'm going this Saturday so that I'll be able to get some night rides on Boulder Dash. I remember last summer when I went, there was a lot of line jumping in the BD line so hopefully that's not a problem this season. With a full queue, it's only a 20ish minute wait, no? Also, what is the max weight limit for the sky ride? I know you can fit 4 people in one car. There's 4 of us and I think we each weight like 140/50 on average
  9. I'm not sure how best to plan out this trip, but SFNE and Lake Compounce can easily be combined into a single day (LC has discounted admissio after 5). Dorney and Knoebels can too.
  10. So the official announcement date is Aug 2nd right? I've been following the game as best I can but hopefully all of the puzzles/clues will come together by then
  11. I thought Green Lantern was smooth but painful, if that makes any sense. It doesn't really bang your head around but it exerts a lot of pressure on your legs. I suggest going to El Toro (and KK) at the beginning of the day because it's basically guaranteed to be a walk-on in the early morning. Later in the day the line can get long and a lot of times the line just moves slowly. I say knock off KK while you're in that area too - you don't want to risk it breaking down later in the day. Nitro doesn't really get a long line till later in the day, but even with a full queue, the wait is under an hour.
  12. The on ride photo is at the very end of the ride before the last bunny hill. If his entire body fell out of the ride though, I'm not sure what you'd see in those pictures
  13. I'll probably get around to Ocean Park but is HK Disneyland worth it? I will also be traveling a lot throughout Asia but there's no guarantee that the people I'm traveling with will be into the whole roller coasters and theme park thing. Anyways, I have some friends from my home university that are studying abroad in Shanghai so I'm assuming Happy Valley Shanghai is a must? Probably going to Beijing as well. I'm going to Japan (Tokyo) and I'm guessing Tokyo Dome City is in Tokyo...? Not sure what other theme parks are close by though. The only other major country I'm planning on visiting is South Korea if I end up having enough money. Predicting right now that most people will want to go to Seoul so that's probably where I'll end up.
  14. I don't know why so many people are assuming he literally didn't have legs. Good to see that people aren't automatically blaming the ride for being unsafe, but just about every other comment on the facebook page is about how Darien Lake let a man with no legs get on a roller coaster
  15. Anyway, this was my first trip to Darien Lake so I'll just give a quick report Walk-ons to 5 min wait for everything, even ROS. -ROS: I really liked it. Nowhere near as good as SFNE's Bizarro but there were still some good moments of air. Are the restraints different from Bizarro's though? I went to SFNE last in October 2010 and I definitely didn't notice shin guards...but on the exit of the second helix and the turn right after the first drop, the shin guards really hurt. It broke down around 2 (stuck on lift hill) but opened around 3. When we tried to go back around 6, it was closed for the rest of the night with security guards blocking it off because of the accident -Predator: rough but not painful. Went on a good few times -Boomerang: not too bad. I forgot how forceful the reverse leg of the ride is though -Mind Eraser: this was OMFG painful. The only other one I've been on is Mind Eraser at SFNE and that wasn't nearly as bad as this one was -Viper: pretty painful too, but nowhere near as bad as Mind Eraser -Motocoaster: this was my first Vekoma motorbike. It wasn't amazing but it was fun, especially for no wait
  16. Wow, I was just there today and I rode ROS twice...I'm not going to speculate on what happened though. We were on the ferris wheel and heard an ambulance but didn't see where it was going. Around 6 we went back to ROS and there were security guards blocking the entire ROS section off right under the Predator lift hill. I got this shot around 6 on the Predator exit ramp. All of the action was pretty much over by then though. The ride was closed when I left
  17. I WOULD choose to go on a day with a PAC concert. Hopefully it won't be too bad...
  18. So I'm going to Darien Lake for the first time tomorrow I think. What kind of crowds should I expect? I'm only planning on spending 5ish hours there. Also, our group has an odd number and doesn't really want to use the single-rider line. Do any of the rides force you to use a single rider line?
  19. Honestly, I'm happy that the audio isn't working on Bizarro. Maybe if they lowered the volume a bit, it'd be okay but it's just shouting inaudible stuff in your ears Does anyone know if they plan to open a new walkway between KK and El Toro?
  20. I'm just curious about Green Lantern since I never read the comics. Is the Parallax thing part of the original comic? Because when my friends saw the loop their first impression was that six flags either ran out of green paint or was too lazy to paint it. Then they saw the Parallax explanation on the queue and one of them was convinced that they made that up to make the yellow loop make sense. Also, when I went like 2 days ago parking was $17. I paid with a credit card if that makes a difference (it wasn't Discover)
  21. So I went today and figured I'd post a quick report. The park wasn't too crowded, but some of the more popular rides had a little wait. I think there's a pretty big difference across all of the ride crews, with El Toro's and Batman: TR's being the absolute slowest. The Dark Knight - basically a walk-on all day. The ride ops were working incredibly fast. The first time we went on, they let us re-ride without getting off since the next group hadn't finished the pre-show yet. Batman: TR - holy hell, the inside of the queue needs some AC. I only went on once and it was about a 10-15 minute wait but the inside of the tunnel area is awful and just reeks of body odor Nitro - I think Six Flags really needs to fix the estimated wait time signs because every time I've been at the 60 minute mark, it's taken about 15 minutes. Anyways, walk-on at the beginning of the day and 15 minutes for the rest of the day. Kingda Ka - closed for the entire day for maintenance :/ Bizarro - walk-on from opening till around noon. They managed to stack all 3 trains pretty badly. El Toro - this was the first time I ever did ET first. Walk-on at the beginning of the day and 45 minutes around mid-afternoon. After 6 though, the line died down a lot; we only waited maybe 20 minutes. But WHY CAN'T THEY OPEN THE TARPS OVER THE QUEUE FOR SHADE? There's pretty much no shade on ETs queue and it's irritating seeing the tarps just rolled up. Also, I sat in the 3rd row and that was by far the best ride I've ever had on it Superman - this was actually a walk-on all day. I'm guessing Green Lantern had a lot to do with this. This was actually the first time I've ever seen this ride with less than a 2 hour wait. The ride ops were also really good. Green Lantern - didn't bother to do this since it was so uncomfortable the first time. After Mantis and this, I firmly believe that it's just not natural to ride a roller coaster standing up. Anyway, the queue looked to be pretty much full for the entire day. Only the first switchbacks weren't full. My biggest complaint with GADV right now is the complete and utter lack of shade on any queues. I mean, they can shade the TVs in Bizarro's queue but not the part of the queue where actual, real human-beings will be standing in the sun?
  22. I'm going tomorrow. Anyone been there this week and can attest to the crowd? I'll let everyone know how it goes. Also, the only ride I really want to see removed is Rolling Thunder. It is honestly one of the most painful rides I've ever been on, even worse than Mean Streak imo
  23. Bleh, I really hope this is an airtime machine and not a looper. If the 212 height is correct though, I can't see how it would be a multi-looper
  24. Bringing a cooler and a bunch of water bottles. I usually go back to the car before lunch to rehydrate and that works out pretty well. The water will be a boiling mess if you wait until the end of the day though. On a side note, if you're dehydrated on a hot day in the amusement park, is it normal to feel a little bit of tingling in your fingertips?
  25. I have a choice between going to SFGadv and SFNE on the week of June 13th. I've been to both multiple times before, but SFGadv is an hour closer so I go to it more often. Overall, I know Gadv has a better collection of rides, but I've never been to SFNE when there were no lines. Everytime I've gone, Bizarro was a 1.5-2 hr wait and everything else had pretty awful operations. On the other hand, I went to Gadv around the same time last year on a weekday and it was practically empty. I went last month and it was unexpectedly crowded. If SFNE is empty on a weekday around this time of year, I'd prefer to go there, but SFNE is the one place where I can't deal with lines. So, any locals know if the park will continue to see light crowds for the next few weeks, particularly the week of the 13th?
