Great update. I was at SFMM this past weekend, and it was hot. My friend has the thermometer in his car, and it hit 118 in the praking lot at one point. I got to ride Revolution and did notice it was a smooth ride. And I also rode X2 Saturday night at 10:30 and it fun. But yeah, audio wasn't that great, and the flames weren't working.
And as for the line thing, if X was any indication of X2's line, it will be a good two to three hour line way after it's not "new." On any day I came (for X), the line was quite long. And we're talking 4-5 years after it opened. People ride it for the thrill, but also for the experience.

^True, just look at Collosus. It's a massive structure, and painted entirely white.
-
Wow, and I thought what the guys I talked to had said was bad. He's going to have a bad day
-
I know Magic Mountain is what it should be called, as even my friend corrected me on it. But, I've never been to another SF, and this one is the "home" park, so I just use the general Six Flags. I knida grew up with Six Flags first, Magic Mountain second. Yes, I'm a little bit younger than either of you.
-
^Yeah, classic example would be Goliath at SFMM. The front offers a great view of the park, awesome airtime, and a terrifying view of the drop. The back offers horribly strong g's and a very strong gut wrenching brake effect.

I live in the Long Beach area (Paramount to be exact), and so have my pic of 4 parks.
My main one is SFMM, about an hour away. But I am close to Disneyland/DCA, about 20 min; Knott's, about 15min; and USH, about 30 min.
-
We hear about it all the time. There are 3 billboards around Knott's about it (and I saw a Knott's Billboard leaving SFMM the other day) also non-stop radio and tv ads.
I'd like to know where the SF billboards are around Knotts advertising for X2, I basically live across the street, and I haven't seen any!
Everyone around here knows about the park (although they all just call it "Six Flags" instead of "Magic Mountain," and that's kinda always irked me) but I don't know how many people have been informed that the parks not going to close. I still hear "Isn't MM going to close?" from first time trip buddies.
SFMM has never really done a good job of letting the "dumb" public know whats going on with that. I think there was like, 1 commercial announcing it and that was all.
First, I'd irk you too I love SFMM, but I call it Six Flags. I do it because there is no other park around here to confuse it with. Of course, on the site (and probably around enthusiasts), I use SFMM or Magic Mountain.
And SF really isn't any good at the advertsiement of that stuff. I was frantic when I heard they might be selling, and I had to do some digging to find out they switched the list. They need have the stupid, annoying asian idiot say something "More Flags *faster* we're not closing* More fun

That would be awesome to come around from either Riddler's or from behind the hill and see this massive monster of wood looming in front of you. And now the light went on in brain, if the theme mainly the queue line and station, and present the story and though you are the Terminator or something and have the area around the ride be chaotic, the theme would work. Can't wait.
And again, my bet is they will not do a clone of anything. Something this big will be completely fresh.
-
A good woodie in SoCal! A shocker that would be! I hope they can deliver. My brain is pretty baffled with the Terminator theme, but if they work it right, we might be getting one of he most unique woodies ever built. Especially, looking at SFFM's history, they only have two "exact" clones (Batman and Scream!), and one ride that was designed based off another coaster (Viper), and two that inspired new types of coaster designs (Superman and X). SFFM will not be getting a clone, mark my words. If we do, I will go onto that new ride and lick the grab bar.
We do need more flats, but hopefully they do what they did with X and Dejavu and (ironically) X2 and Thomas Town. You know, give us the main course, and then sneak in some desert under the table to keep us at the table. Who knows. We'll see when Shapiro has had a few less drinks.
-
Yeah, I saw the stupid X2 billboards "OMG squared", but hey, if they bring in the GP. Plus. I've seen a million of the commercials, the nice X2 commercial is getting real old, real fast. And, I here the commercial on the radio everday, and the people at work listen to Power 106 and some chunte station, both play it.
-
Riddler's Revenge all the way. That is my favorite ride period.
-
I know you guys will hate me, but the worst design of a coaster ever is the Vekoma boomerang design. I get the worst headache from riding 'em. Since I'm from Cali, I'll pick Knott's Boomerang as the worst.
-
Desperado at Buffalo Bill's.
Awesome airtime.
A bit rough though.
-
Toss up between a few woodies:
The Villain -Geauga Lake
Big Dipper -Geauga Lake
Mean Streak -Cedar Point
Psyclone -SFMM
Ghostrider -Knott's
Because of these rides, I hate woodies. But, I do want to ride the Gravity Group and Intamin pre-fab ones, along with a few others (like The Beast), before I decide Woodies are evil
-
I've had people ask, when seeing X2 at the front, if that is X1 or X2. I've also had people TELL me SFMM is closing. Not ask me iof it is, but tell me, and then argue the point. I just look at 'em and go, why would they spend millions of dollars to fix X if they're selling.
As for the new ride, hopefully we get an Intamin prefab woodie or a Gravity Group woodie. That would be awesome. Maybe they could figure out how to put, and keep, a good woodie in the back on Psyclone's grave. Or maybe we'll have another themeless parking lot coaster As long as it's good. All the woodies I've been on have made me hate them.
Of course, that's hoping it's a woodie.

Two homemade coasters. In order to truly appreciate the weirdness of them, here are vids:
-
Waiting in the bus for parking, we got to see X2 in action. A few of the guys behind me asked each other, "Is that X1 or X2?"
I made it clear to them that X"1" no longer exists, and that this is the same ride.
Most GP don't even know what makes this ride different from the roginal. Poor advertising on Six Flags' part.
-
I was a little sceptical when they said only 80ft high, but watching that vid, this ride looks like it has some good airtime and a decent amount of speed.
-
That ride looks really fun, and definitely shows Disney is heading in the right direction with DCA. The scary part, is a friend of mine who works at the Resort was at the park, and the line for Toy Story Mania goes all the way to the front of the park. That is totally nuts!
EDIT- accidentally made this a new topic. Sorry
-
I finally finished the update, taking it about two parks a day. This looked like a really fun trip. I hope I'll be able to go on one of these trips in a few years.
Oh, and I ha to laugh at the following pic. My friend always calls me a tourist at SFMM because I'm always taking pics of the rides. I'd totally be right there taking a pic
Woohoo! Picture fest!

Very glad this monster got a great new home. Looks like they're missing some theming though. The turnaround for the corkscrews looks reall bare. I love the new paint job though. Did they just keep the old paint scheme for the loop? And those are new trains aren't they?
That sucks that the queue doesn't go under the cobra roll. Was very intimidating to go under it at Geauga Lake. Seemed to signal "no escape" and made the cobra roll look bigger.

^^ With the whole Thomas Town thing, I think partially the park feels the area is a little small for advertising. I mean, think about it, both the Bugs Bunny World and Thomas Town could probably fit inside of X2's land area with room to spare. The park might be test driving the whole family thing on a small scale. Plus, with X2, they need to get it out there, for they spent quite a bit more money on it being refurbed. I hope in the next couple of years, though, that we see a calming of the commercials to something of an updated version of the original Magic Mountain commercials. Hmm, maybe that's what they're waiting for the new 2009 coaster for. If they plan to make that a family friendly ride, then we might see advertising for a family audience.
Of course, these stupid "2 flags...no fun" commercials with the scary asian guy aren't helping. They say their trying to advertise more toward families, but this new guy and these new commercials scream TEEN to me. Mr. Six was way more family friendly. I know many a kid who called him their idol
