Bill Kitchen's new thing. I'm a skycoaster nerd so that would satisfy me.

It's also cold and the track didn't sound oiled at all. That's a lot more friction than usual, which will slow it down. In addition to that, new trains require a "break in"... That is for the wheels, etc to be warmed up and smoothed out. Usually a coaster runs fairly slow at its opening and gets faster as the first season progresses. Physics nerd here. This isn't true. The only acceleration on the Voyage is caused by gravity, which is independent of mass. If you do the calculation for a simple model of the Voyage, that is, no friction, no air resistance, all trains will run at the same speed regardless of mass. Now clearly different trains run differently, so air resistance and friction must be accounted for. Heavier trains have the advantage with air resistance as they have more momentum to transfer to the air. On the other hand, a lighter train will lose less energy due to friction because more mass means greater friction. The key difference with the Timberjiners is that they are not going to give up nearly as much energy to shuffling (and overall friction) as the PTCs do. You know that feeling on a GCI where it seems that no speed is being lost? They will probably run like that. So my prediction is that the Timberliners will actually run a bit slower over the first two hills (due to air resistance), but they will keep their speed better throughout the back run, resulting in a more insane ride coming back.

^That's what I found out about kids when I operated the Skycoaster at SFGAm this year. Either they have no idea what's going on and are therefore completely fearless... or they are terrified out of their minds. Probably my favorite story of the year: I'm flight crew at the Skycoaster. Up comes this triple: two HUGE, southern-accented adults (presumably a couple) and a tiny, barely up to the height requirement little girl. She was terrified. (So much in fact that they decided for her not to fly. Good decision.) But to try and console her, the father kept saying (in the thickest southern accent you can imaging), "Look honey, they got cables! They got cables!" As if that would be consoling. Good thing they weren't Intamin cables. Also, when this couple did fly, they screamed more than most kids... the whole way through.

There should just be a Drunk Piers Ustream. Even that would not be enough!

Does anyone else wonder why the Mr. Freeze concept of having two trains with a transfer track station was never duplicated? Shuttles are cool, two train operations are cool... why haven't more two-train shuttles been built?

They should have named it Prowler.

In regards to Italian Job, those trains were supposed to do a lot of things. I don't remember hearing about drifting (although it very well may have been a feature) but they were supposed to vibrate as if there were an engine onboard. They were even supposed to simulate the bumpiness of driving down the stairs in that spot. I don't think that ever worked.

Working at SFGAm this summer, I overheard that about 90% of Little Dipper was new wood. I'm not sure if that's a good figure but for sure there's a lot of new wood in it. Really all that's left from Kiddieland is the train, the station, and the sign. Rebuilding this coaster was no small task for Six Flags. For Six Flags. A giant in the industry. It's obvious why no big park would buy the BIG Dipper. These kinds of things are just too costly, and to what benefit? Yes it's nostalgic, but a big part of the nostalgia was Geauga Lake itself, and that's gone, period. You don't need every bolt and board to keep the nostalgia alive. Why not just buy the train and let the wood get bulldozed? That's probably what would happen anyway! And it would cost less (but likely not cheap). Kat and Nick, you're nice people (we have met once), but I think this plan is going to put you in debt for life. Don't be afraid to give up.

I'm going to be upfront: Robb is asking for "serious artists" who use Photoshop. I'm not one. My entry falls squarely under "thrown together in MS Paint". So I'm sorry for wasting time. Whether Stacker is in "cheat mode" or not is based on win/loss ratios. The owner of the machine can set the ratio (and there is a limit) to guarantee a profit. After the game has been lost enough times, it becomes legitimately winnable.

I saw Ken Griffey Jr. at the Skycoaster at SFGAm (when I was working). He was on a huge VIP tour, be he did not fly. Most of his family did. I didn't know who that was.
