Wow!!! You're so hilarious robb!!! And so mature too!!! And I worked Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin when I was in college. I've walked around the park hundreds of times. And the differences between The Magic Kingdom and Disneyland are huge. Orlando gets away with things that would never fly in Anaheim.

I was in Epcot over MLK weekend. I also visited in october. Nice try. Test track opened in 1998. That would be 11 years ago. Soarin - Oh Cool, Florida *finally* got something california had several years before. Nemo - Clearly better in CA, but a good addition to the park. But I will agree with you here, the park does look good. When I first visited in 2000, Epcot was very stale. It is much better now, so I will take back my comment about Epcot. But you missed my main point Arguments like yours only prevent change and sorely needed rehabs. This has become quite visible down in Orlando, where rides that are in desperate need of rehabs never receive some much needed TLC. And, I also don't think there is any arguing that WDW as a whole has become much more "stale" than Disneyland. I mean, when was the last time the Magic Kingdom got an E-Ticket? Splash Mountain??? That was 21 years ago. In fact, the only noteworthy addition in recent years has been philarmagic, but even that isn't worth seeing more than once or twice. All I'm saying is that Disneyland does a much better job of keeping their parks fresh. But your argument really only hinders progress.

Perhaps this is why Epcot is in shambles thematically? In fact, the entire WDW resort is in desperate need of a DCA style makeover, but this type of thinking is what prevents the sorely needed rehabs from happening. Rehabs are needed. End of story. Complaints like yours only prevent change, and you end up with stale parks like epcot and the MK in florida.

Robb Alvey's 30 Pounds in 30 Days - 2008!
california screamin replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
first off, great job on the weight loss so far. Remember that even after you lose your 30 pounds you will need to continue exercising, or else the weight you lose will pile right back on. Crash dieting for thirty days is not a good solution. Making permanent life style changes is. You are on the right track and deserve to be congratulated. Oh, and I too would suggest you stay away from the drink at starbucks. Even the non fat version is still loaded with sugary and fattening syrups. You would need to run almost 2 and a half miles to work off that one drink. The worst part is that you don't even get anything out of it. No protein, and it really doesn't take the edge out of your hunger. -
couple of questions here... I will be at universal/IOA on thursday october 17th. Are halloween horror nights only on weekends? I will be there on a thursday so i'm hoping i can check everything out. Unfortunately, i will have to leave the park at about 7:30 to pick my girlfriend up from the airport. what are some must see attractions/houses, and when do all of the haunted houses start opening up? thanks.

Obama or McCain or Beemerboy?
california screamin replied to dragsterfan420's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'd like to throw in my two cents here. I am currently studying to become a marine biologist, and the environment is one of my biggest concerns. I feel that protecting the environment is the most important thing we humans can do for the world. That is why I am voting for Obama in the 2008 elections. I am against the republicans for many reasons — from denying California a routine waiver to institute stronger automobile emissions rules to the EPA's refusal to regulate greenhouse gases, to Bush's refusal to sign the Kyoto protocol, and most importantly, Bush's horrendous overhaul of the endangered species act of 1973. (Read more about Bush's overhaul of the ESA here - http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1832164,00.html - It's a very short and well written article so I'd suggest that republicans and democrats who care about the earth's future read it.) I feel that with less than six months in office remaining, the Bush administration is trying to destroy as many established environmental protections while it still has the chance. The damage could take years to repair, and a republican in office certainly would not help. This is why I encourage everyone I can to vote for Barack Obama. -

Microbes That Eat Garbage, Excrete Crude Oil

No. 1. A majority of people polled in the US don't want drilling in ANWR. 2. If we drilled right now, the oil wouldn't hit the market for 10 years and it would do NOTHING to reduce the price of gasoline, or our dependence on foreign oil. 3. Everyone can see that the REAL ANSWER is increased fuel efficiency and alternative energy resources all of which are currently available, but are not promoted due the powerful oil and auto maker lobbies in Washington. Drilling in ANWR is a terrible idea. And it will do nothing to make Americans change their Oil Dependent lifestyles... and the American people will still drive around in gas guzzling S.U.V's which are terrible for the environment. It will take 10 years before one drop of ANWAR oil hits the gas pumps. And, it will only be enough supply to lower the cost of gas 1-2% a gallon. Not worth it to me. Instead giving big oil a new playground to make BILLIONS MORE IN PROFITS, why not start doing things that make us use less gas... The reality is not only is drilling in ANWAR environmentally WRONG but would produce no long term effects on the price of gas. Drilling in ANWR is simply not a good idea. It really will not help the prices of gas, it will destroy a portion of a beautiful environmental area. And we all know what happened when exxon drilled in Alaska (anyone remember Valdez??) The environmental effects from that have been horrible, and the area still has not recovered. Anyhow. Only a few more months until Bush's appointed USFS and Environmental bozoz are out of office!!! Edit - Just another thought here - if we use our own oil here in America first before the Middle East runs out of oil, we'd be more dependent on them IF we don't create an alternative fuel or an alternate means of powering our vehicles/economy. Oil companies can pump oil for free off of federal land once the price of oil hit a certain fixed amount... Free oil? Yes, that is why they want it soo bad... anybody who says we should drill has been listening to uneducated people like rush limebaugh and all of those other idiots look if we drilled we wouldnt even see any for 10 years and it is not the pipelines that disturb wildlife it is the roads that we cut to get in there bottom line i have not been there and one day i would like to go when i go there i dont want to see oil rigs and pipelines everywhere -
Denver's Lakeside and Adventure Golf

Lakeside looks like a Beautiful but neglected park. What a shame. Anyhow, how fast do you think the launch was on those drag racers? -
Yeah. I said above that I planned to arrive at least a half hour early. Do they open the park's gates early like they do at some other parks? And Big Bad Wolf Gets long lines? Thanks for all your help!

I will be visiting busch gardens williamsburg on the saturday over fourth of july weekend. I am sure that the park will be absolutely slammed. I will be able to spend the entire day at the park. This was my plan of action for the day - Arrive at the park at least one half hour early. Run to Griffon. Then over to Dar-Kastle. Then to Alpengeist. After that, I will run over to AC, and get as many rides in as possible before the park gets busy. Does this sound like a realistic plan? Also, does BGW have a fastpass system? Thanks guys!!

I've been to both WDW and Disneyland, and I find Disneyland to be far superior. First off, Disneyland park is the original. I feel that The Magic Kindgdom in Florida simply cannot capture the Magic that is the californian park. Disney World has a much more artificial and spaced out feel whereas Disneyland has a more intimate, traditional feel. The trees and vegetation are much more mature and dominate the view, and the pedestrian areas and walkways are smaller and have a more varied gradation. It's widely known that most versions of shared attractions are indeed superior at Disneyland. Pirates is almost double the length of Florida's. Haunted Mansion, while not quite as cool looking at Disneyland, is much better than it's clone in florida. Florida doesn't have Indiana Jones or Matterhorn. Space mountain in California is without a doubt superior. It is also quite a bit faster. Splash Mountain is the only magic kingdom attraction that is superior in florida. Everything Else (Pirates, Mansion, Thunder, Space, Small World) are much better at Disneyland! It also should be noted that Disneyland Park has 48 attractions while the magic kingdom in florida has only 38. Many key attractions are missing (mr toad, etc) I did not count character meet and greats at either park. You obviously get more bang for your buck in California.

Whenver I come on here, it always seems like there is alot of Disneyland "Hate" I've always wondered why this is... I've been to both WDW and DLR, and I find DLR to be far superior. First off, Disneyland park is the original. I feel that The Magic Kindgdom in Florida simply cannot capture the Magic that is the californian park. Disney World has a much more artificial and spaced out feek whereas Disneyland has a more intimate, traditional feel. The trees and vegetation are much more mature and dominate the view, and the pedestrian areas and walkways are smaller and have a more varied gradation. It's widely known that most versions of shared attractions are indeed superior at Disneyland. Pirates is almost double the length of Florida's. Florida doesn't have Indiana Jones or Matterhorn. Space mountain in California is without a doubt superior when compared to it's cousin in Florida. So, I'm just wondering what your opinion is on all of this?
