Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

With new plans for the parking lot and a starflyer replacing Extreme - what are the prospects for us to see a new major coaster at Gröna Lund considering the limited space? Especially without removing any of the old ones? Would be interesting to hear your thougths and ideas - the crazier, the better A launched coaster towards Bleckholmen, or perhaps a Tower of Terror-clone, using Fritt Fall? -

^I agree, i've spotted a lot of teenagers at Skara Sommarland when i've been there. Remember that the waterslide section is integrated with the rest of the park and lot of the slides are NOT for children, that's for sure. My impression is that the teenagers tend to both have some fun at the waterslide section and then finish up their visit with some of the rides. Extreme could very well fit in. -

Why not relocate Extreme to Skara Sommarland or Furuvik? They're all Parks & Resorts. Or is it just scrap after 15 years in service? -

Cancelled. They are now working on an indoor year round attraction for the parking lot. Now i recall that i've read something about that earlier, guess i must have been repressing the fact due to the shock It's the **** complaining neighbours, right? -

Actually, i don't really see the point with this one. Like mixing Fritt Fall (drop tower) with Kättingflygaren (wave swinger). The fans of Extreme will not see a Starflyer as a satisfactory replacement. Me myself had hoped for a Maurer Söhne Sky Wheel but i realize there's a limit even to Gröna Lund when it comes to squeeze in coasters Any more news about the parking lot? I would love to see that inverted B&M there... -

OMG, this is really something to look forward to. Rode Blue Fire a couple of weeks ago and IMO it really delivered. I also hope that this will continue to trigger the old coaster battle between Liseberg and Gröna Lund -

The inside seats in the front two rows are much smoother than the outside sides at the back of the train. I totally agree with that. I rode it twice last autumn and the first ride on the outside seat was painful. After that i tried the inside seat and it was a lot smoother. My guess was that the outside seats were more sensitive to vibrations since they're not so close to the track. I'm really not an expert in physics, that was just a wild guess and i haven't ridden Baco enough to compare different rows. -

Well, that's really good news! I'm surprised though that this sort of thing/things occurs on a brand new B&M. Tight time schedule perhaps...? -
B&M vs Intamin
dubbis replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I thought this thread was all about your personal opinion, not statistics, right? In my point of view - how can experienced reliability not be a factor to consider? For me personally i have to consider every aspect of the two since both Intamin and B&M creates marvellous coasters (some of my best ride experiences have been with Intamin rides). It's not like comparing Zamperla and Intamin here. In terms of innovation and creativeness i must say i agree with you, Intamin rides are state of the art in that aspect. But it's easy for an ordinary coasternerd like myself to get the impression that Intamin sometimes are a little bit to hasty when they release their novelties, while B&M really make sure that their new ideas always work and are reliable. When i operation - both are great rides, and it's honestly not easy to pick a favourite. -
B&M vs Intamin
dubbis replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After travelling round Europe i must say that both B&M and Intamin coasters are usually smooth but i must say that B&M is the champ in this respect. Another thing -when you visit a park (after travelling cross half of Europe) you expect the main rides to be open. So far i've never experienced a B&M ride closed due to technical problems. I'm sad to say that Intamin rides are far from reliable compared to B&M, especially when it comes to accelerator coasters and LIM/LSM coasters. -

Shambhala will remain closed until this saturday. They're fixing the lift problems. What's the scope of this problem? Can we expect it to be fixed by this weekend or is it more complicated than that? I'm actually surprised to hear about technical problems of this kind with a brand new B&M. I pray to god the ride is up and running by the 18th of june when i pay a visit. -

Made a trip to Spain and PA in late september last year - all rides and areas were open. In July and August i guess you might have other things to worry about - crowds and queueeeees. -

What is your local park?
dubbis replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
- Gröna Lund is pretty close - 15 minutes away. It's just 3 kilometres from my house but there's a lot of water in Stockholm. Unless you have a boat you'll just have drive around it (actually it's possible to go there with your own boat - the park has a small guest harbour). - Furuvik is 2 hours away -
