  1. A Six Flags America season pass will run you $4.35 per month per person (or $52.20 per year) and includes parking (along with a crap load of other benefits including admission to SFGAdv). The cost to ride ANY of the major coasters at Knoebels when paying with tickets is $3 per ride. By that logic, you only need a total of 18 total rides on any combination of the major coasters at SFA in a single year to break even. The park typically opens in April and stays open (now) through December. As such, buy this logic, just going to SFA and riding two major coasters per month for each of the months they are open, you would break even when compared to riding a similar number of coasters at Knoebels.
  2. I wouldn't expect anywhere close to the speed/intensity of Fearless River at Volcano Bay and with regards to the activity pool, there's a decent chance that the added length of the river plus the new deck space for lounging could all take over the area currently occupied by the activity pool.
  3. PBR could go... it doesn't draw many people and it's sister (at SFNE) was already removed. However, I think you'd probably see Shipwreck Falls leave before PBR (just a thought... no solid evidence). ZoomAzon, while really old, is built in a protected area. It's grandfathered in because it was there before the regulations were put into place, but if they ever removed ZoomAzon, it would be difficult to build anything in it's place due to some environmental protections in place for the wooded/wetland the ride goes over. SFA has spent quite a lot on ROAR recently. I realize that no matter how much work they do to the ride, it will never draw crowds like it would/could if they RMCed it, but I'd be really surprised to see them do anything dramatic to it in the next 3 years or so... maybe at the end of 5 years is possible. I've actually heard that SFA upper management has (used to have) their eyes on RMCing Wild One (blasphemy, I know). Not sure if that is still the case or not... Castaway Creek is one of the oldest attractions in the waterpark (only things older would be the WavePool and ZoomAzon). I believe I had read that there were some ADA compliance issues that the park had with Castaway Creek that they had received some waivers/extensions on that were soon to expire. If this is the case, it would require the park to either modify Castaway Creek significantly to accommodate these requirements or close it (and hopefully rebuild/replace).
  4. SFA has invested too much money in ROAR (even this year) to just RMC it... the ride is actually running quite well now!
  5. For those curious how it works (on the Six Flags side), typically Six Flags will release a video announcing EVERYTHING (at all the parks) at around 5/6 am Eastern Time tomorrow. Typically (or based on previous years), the video will contain a 20-30 second "highlight reel" about what each park is getting, but typically, this initial announcement is lacking in details. Generally, you have to wait until later in the day until each individual park begins releasing more details (this generally does not happen with the big "highlight reel" announcement early in the morning. Most parks will have a press release that they will post on their website and/or send to the various media outlets (including TPR) which would contain all the juicy details you are seeking (including full POVs where applicable and all of the available concept images/art)... hence why you'll want to see TPRs full post of the announcement as it (typically) will contain more info than you may have seen otherwise.
  6. Odds are pretty decent that the next tease will possibly (probably) be ROAR...
  7. I disagree. I was thinking one of the non-capsule ones like the Blizzard Beach one. They seem to be water park staes and are always popular with guests. If it's any consolation, the park had originally proposed building a tower complex that had two vertical drop (non-capsule drop) slides along with mat racing slides in the spot where Bonzai Pipelines is now. Now that Bonzai Pipelines is there, not sure what will happen with those plans..
  8. There's also a lot of protected wetland/forest land around/under ZoomAzon Falls. The ride can stay there because it was built before the regulations were in place, but if they removed ZoomAzon Falls, they may have issues building anything new its place due to the current environmental regulations.
  9. It would stand to reason that whatever they are going to add for 2018 will directly replace whatever they are going to remove. I mean, I guess they could remove an attraction and not directly replace it, but build something else somewhere else entirely on the property, but (at least in my opinion) it wouldn't make a lot of sense to be teasing what is being removed so much unless the plans were to directly replace what was being removed. It certainly could be possible that what they add for 2018 could be both a replacement for what is being removed AND adding something somewhere else in the park, but unfortunately, I'm not willing to bet on how likely that is. What I would be willing to bet on is that the attraction that is being removed is a Hurricane Harbor attraction (and not the one that was recently teased on the park's social media outlets).
  10. ACE designates "plaqued" status on two types of coasters 1) ACE Coaster Classic and 2) Landmark Coasters. ACE has REALLY strict guidelines for what they classify as a "Coaster Classic" and some reasons that Wild One would never receive that designation such as the fact that trains were converted and no longer have traditional lapbars (utilize individual ratcheting lapbars) and trains have seat dividers. I believe all of the modifications they made to the layout would also eliminate any chance the ride has of making that status. The other status that they designate is "Landmark Coasters" which are typically reserved for coasters that are historically significant rides. I think if they would have maintained the original design of the ride when they moved Wild One and rebuilt it in MD, it MAY have received this status by now, but Wild One is pretty significantly different from how it originally was and because of that, I'm not sure it would ever receive landmark status.
  11. You mean like giving all of the dinos top hats and canes and putting them in a musical animatronics show all about extinction? (sigh... one can only hope)
  12. Hershey is adding one for 2018 (though, I guess that's only a factor if you are more on the Maryland/PA side of the park and not the DC/VA side)...
  13. Doing so might jeopardize my source... so, sorry, can't...
  14. Are you asking if it is a popular attraction? That's a tough question with regards to a park where the vast majority of the attractions are walk-ons...
  15. I've got a sneaky suspicion that SFA will troll with us over the next few days... there are several attractions that have been rumored to be closing at SFA recently (PBR was one, ROAR another)... but I have a feeling (if my sources are right) that the attraction closing will surprise some folks (something that many/most people wont have seen coming... but not necessarily a bad surprise).
  16. I feel fairly confident in saying that PBR is safe (despite what SFA just posted on their FaceBook page)...
  17. My sources say not to read too much into what you see in the single image that the park posted and that the teases the park may (or may not) post over the next few days/weeks may contain a lot of red herrings. As for the attraction being removed? Look for it to be an early Wild World days attraction (something built before Wild One opened).
  18. Did they look like this? (I believe SFA got SFNE's old PTC trains from when they converted Cyclone to Wicked Cyclone... only using them for parts)
  19. FedEx Field is quite easily visible. When I was there for the media day, it was clear enough to see the Washington Monument. It should be noted that though Wonder Woman is 240' tall, the actual height off the ground of a rider at the peak point is probably right around 200' (or not far off) as the max height seemed right about in line with the top of Superman. As the two rides are so closed together, really anything you can see from Superman you can probably also see from Wonder Woman... the only advantage from Wonder Woman being that you are up at that height for a longer period and can view the surroundings in a full 360 degrees without twisting around.
  20. Six Flags America actually has a forth (unpaved) lot to the west of what most people call the "third" lot (the lot on the western border of the water park). Currently, a paintball company is leasing the land for a paintball course, however, if the park really wanted/needed the lot, they could quickly and easily convert the space into dirt lot with the intent to pave it if it was utilized frequently enough. In a pinch, about 1.5 acres of this "forth" lot is already paved and could be used if needed. The bigger issue is that it is about 2/3rds of a mile walk from this lot to the main entrance, so if they were going to utilize this lot frequently, they would want/need to make dedicated tram lanes to access this lot.
  21. The concept of the "open" queue is pretty neat. Wonder if it's something we'll see more of at Universal (I could imagine in the Nintendo Land section open rooms where you can play Nintendo related games and such while you're waiting to ride) or if it's something that will be more or less one and done with this attraction simply because it works (really) well with the story/theme they are going for. As for the ride vehicle, it sounds quite similar to Questor/Corkscrew Hill/Europe in the Air (which could basically be described as "open air Star Tours" as you described).
  22. Th complete Rivers of Light soundtrack has found its way to YouTube... Absolutely stunning in my opinion (right up there with Illumintion's soundtrack)...additionally, the soundtrack clocks in at just over 18 minutes which makes this a reasonably long show (longer than Wishes or Illumintions) .Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLwdJR6lzOU
  23. Anyone have experience going to Christmas Town during the week between Christmas and New Years? We plan on going Dec 27th and (based on the surge pricing... or lack thereof for that day), I'm hoping that the park will be pretty empty, but just wanted to know if anyone had any first hand experience. Historically, we've always gone on a Friday or Saturday in early December and had run into massive crowds. Hopeful for a relatively empty park.
