Waterparks, anyone?
MichRollerCoast replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In my 18 years of life, I have been to 5 water parks. Pleasure Island-it was a small waterpark here in Muskegon until MIA made it go under but it sucked anyway. Splash-This was a water park on 28th street in Grand Rapids that went out of business too due to a weird location and MIA. It was just your average water park. Blizzard Beach-I love the racing slides but that was about it. Hurricane Hannah's-Overall boring waterpark, but it had/has the best wavepool I've ever been in and the best slide complex, Hurricane Mountain. MIA's Wildwater Adventure-The best waterpark I've been in. You can spend a couple hours in it and just enjoy it. The tornado slide will be awesome for that park. -

Underrated Parks
MichRollerCoast replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love Michigan's Adventure. I think it is a great way to spend a day, ride Timbers a lot and spend a couple hours in the water park. Everyone has to visit it at least once so that they can ride Timbers. -
Ok, so I was the Shivering Timbers Assistant Team Leader last year, and can say that Michigan's Adventure is not a crappy park. It has an awesome water park, which is included in the price of the park. The Tornado Proslide is coming up quickly and will be a great addition to the park. It has a ripcord, second tallest in commission(well tied with others). It has Wolverine Wildcat, which was Summer and Dinns first colaboration coaster. Zach's Zoomer, though small is fun, its a copy of Beastie but is an ACE coaster classic. Mad Mouse is one of the last Arrow coasters before X, so thats cool I guess. Speaking of Arrow, MIA is home to a Orange, Yellow, and Green Arrow Corkscrew, heaven on earth, JK. The BEST Falling Star I have ever been on, Airtime Crazy!!! A super boring, but still fun log flume, Logger's Run is there and it can cool you off. The management is awesome and the employees are all fun to talk to. But all of this leads me to Shivering Timbers, the mack-daddy of Airtime. It currently holds the spots of 2nd and 1st ranked wooden caoster in two different polls. The front seat has such amazing floating airtime and the back has such fast airtime. The trick track is something people complain about, but I find to be an essential element. There are no trim brakes along the 55384ft of track and the speed is constant after you reach the 65MPH. Seeing that it is at such a small park, the line could reach 45 minutes max, but that is on the uber crazy days, expect either walk on or have to wait one train. Make sure you said Hi to Paul, the Team Leader on Timbers this year for I am moving to Magnum XL-200 for a year, and tell him that Ryan sent you. Oh and on a side note, Michigan's Adventure's 50th Anniversary is next year(2006) and they have plans for a MAJOR attraction, 90% sure its a coaster. It will either be a hyper, Inverted, or another award winning woodie. So make sure to pay a visit to Michigan's Adventure next summer to ride the new coaster and to enjoy the rest of the only "Family" ran Cedar Fair park. And when you visit Cedar Point, pay a visit to Magnum XL-200 and look for a Ryan, that's me and give me a hello. I'd love to meet all of you guys.

Top 5 wood and steel coasters
MichRollerCoast replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
WOOD 1-Shivering Timbers- What can I say?? This ride is simply amazing, King of Airtime!! Best coaster ever. 2-Viper- Its just so much fun, I cant' wait to ride it again this summer. 3-The Beast- It's a classic woodie, and ACE/GOCC celebrated its 25th birthday on the day of my 18th, so The Beast means a lot to me, plus it rocks. 4-Raging Wolf Bobs- As close as we'll get to the original Bobs. Plus it was good before but now that it has been retracked, it'll be even better. 5-Son of Beast- Many people don't like this coaster, it was close between this and the Wolverine Wildcat for me, but this ride just has that out of control feel, and its fun, Seat 6-2 rocks. STEEL 1-Raging Bull- This ride just took my breath away, and it's simply something else. This ride is packed with airtime which we all love. 2-Dominator- I rode this for the first time last summer and fell in love with it, Hopefully that park can actually use its capacity capabilities. 3-Magnum XL-200- It's Maggie, you really cant' say more. I'm just so honored to be able to call it my job this summer. Hope to see all of you guys there, make sure you say hi. 4-Millenium Force- So smooth, So fast, So good. This was Intamin's glory coaster and I think it always will be. 5-Phantom's Revenge- Morgan strikes back!! I rode this for the first time as well last summer and, WOW!! It's like riding on glass and those bunnyhills are the most intense moments of airtime I have ever experienced. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
MichRollerCoast replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having never been on the Flyers, I can't share the simpathy. But one thing I am not happy about is the fact that they are themeing them after a crappy Nick cartoon. They are painting the character all over them and, it just makes me mad, just touch up the paint and leave them as the Flyers. -
What is your local park?
MichRollerCoast replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I live in Muskegon, MI so Michigan's Adventure is only 15 minutes away (8 miles north), so that means I get to ride Shivering Timbers alot, and I mean alot. but Cedar Point is 4-5 hours, depending on if I speed, and SFGA is either 3 if I take the ferry or 5 if I drive the whole way. -
SFGAdv & Q-Bot
MichRollerCoast replied to MichRollerCoast's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We're going on July 20th because it's our friends B-day. But we are staying in Allentown that night and will defenitly get there early and get the Q-Bot. I'm not so familiar with how SF runs their parks, becasue as you can see in my Sig, I am a CF guy. So thank you for all the help. -
Worst Coaster Ever?
MichRollerCoast replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My ultimate bad coaster, that i've been on, would have to be American Eagle at SFGA. I rode it two times and on the second time I got a pine needled stabbed into my hand almost an inch. Plus I find it to jsut be boring, don't stop us before the helix. -
Defenitly do a Midwest trip. Sorry Elissa, but the Midwest is where its at. Hit Cedar Point, Geauga Lake, Kings Island, Kennywood, Holiday World, Indiana Beach, Six Flags Great America, Mt. Olympus, and Michigan's Adventure. It may sound like a lot but it will be worth it, you'll hit some of the best coasters and parks in the world.

Do you know how much it cost? -
I'm planning a Pennsylvania trip this summer and I'm going to SFGAdv. I was curious about the Q-Bot, just tell me everything you can about it. Thanks.
