  1. Well, to give a little insight to my coaster life, I have the best of 2. My Husband is from Windsor England, and we enjoy trips to his see his family. Its the best of both world because Not only does my mother in law work security at Windsor Castle, but we get to visit Alton Towers, My UK fave, and other parks when we are there. We sometimes take the train, and visit My Husbands Extended Family in Exeter as well. My Neice here in The States, works at Paramount Kigs island, My cousin works At Six Flags in Texas, so as you see, I started coaster riding later in life, but it all worked for the best.... I get free room and board each time I feel froggy and up to a visit on some really great coasters! I live minutes away from dollywood, so if kids or work prevents long travel, we just go there. Does anyone else have similar stories? please share with me.
  2. Oh, and The additions to the park will eventually link the Tennessee Tornado to the Timber Canyon, which is where The mystery mine and Thunderhead is... On, and you do get the BEST air time in the very front seat. The tornado was smooth friday, and seemed faster than the last time I had rode it. The third time around, My head bobbled more than usual, which made my " WooHoo's" sound more like tarzan calls...lol
  3. The Mystery Mine looks really interesting. Its good to see that it isnt going to be small fries added to the Park. It was told to me that each year, new rides will be added until each end of the park meets into a loop. Which is convienient so those that only like coasters can ride without walking the entire park. I have taken the virtual ride, and think it may be something worth riding, but then again, Id try it first to make sure. Have a great one!
  4. It would have to be a huge drop. The longer, or steeper, the better. Nothing gets the heart pumping like looking down at a drop and realizing you are goin down! Its short lived, cause by that point, you are flying through a loop, or helix, or up another corkscrew, but the deeper or more alluring the drop, the better. I love the drops into darkness. as small as the Tennessee Tornado is, I still like falling into darkness and emerging upside down into a loop. It was my first official steel coaster ride, and holds a spot in my coaster pics for the drop in darkness. Its still scares the bajeebers outta my kids, and they squeal everytime! Oh, I completely agree with the huge lines, smelly persons in said lines, and those who know they will not fit on the ride, but take line anyway, and some of them, are said odiferous persons ( they got some ripeness)
  5. THE BEAST - A Long drawn out ride, but fun none the less. Its ups and downs on the Wood makes it a little exciting. Still a classic, and classics NEVER go out of Style. SON OF THE BEAST - Well, Junior was rough, but with all wood coasters, ya expect a little bit of jiggle, it wasnt as hot as I expected, but ok to me. The loop was an interesting add to the coaster... INTERESTING, not best in the whole world.... I tend to be picky with coasters, if they dont leave me staggering, Im not that thrilled. I still am one that prefers to be flipped, ripped, and left lookng for clean underpants...lmao
  6. I finally had a chance to Ride The Timber Tower at Dollywood. And personally, Im glad I didnt waste my time waiting in hour long lines before hand. My husband and I took a day trip Friday, and there wasnt hardly any lnes on any of the rides! I think we did have a 5 minute wait on the Thunderhead at the end of our day there. But when we arrived, we were the first riders of the day. The park looked so desolate compared to its weekends, I was amazed and greatful for the peace. After the Thundrehead, we went over to the TimberTower, which was stuck with people on it. Then it was closed down. As a season passholder to Dollywood (as well as Kings Island), I was not too surprised it was closed, it has been alot this summer. My children have rode it most of the summer, and seeem to really enjoy the TimberTower. But when my husband and I rode it, we werent too thrilled. It was slow moving, round and round, with a few dips to each side. Needless to say, It actually made me yawn. Maybe some riders enjoy it, but for me, I wasnt pleased. my children still like it, and gladly will ride again...me... Id wait until better Rides open in the Future.
  7. Saturday came, and we drove to Dollywood Park, where my son boarded the Thuinderhead Wooden Coaster. It was his first time on a coaster, and he was so excited. AS we topped the drop, He started to yell " This is higher than it looks down there". Then a loud scream came from him. He was in the fron car with his daddy, and by the second Turn, he was yelling "Weeeeeeee". He was saying aww at the end, and we ended up taking turns until he had rode it 3 more times, then we made him stop and move on to other rides. It was a great moment to see him finally get to do what his bigger sisters get to do, and I told him next summer, we would take him to other parks ( My neice works at Kings Island), and I have a friend who workds at Universal... .So he will have chances to follow his mommy, the adrinline Junkie, and ride till ya cant stand up straight...lol. This pic I took on his 4th time around. He is in front again, with his daddy. Heres my lil man, he is the front car, right side, next to his dad in white shirt
  8. My son is 6 1/2 years old and just started the first grade. He is small for his age, just 42lbs, and has just now hit the 48" milestone to ride a real rollercoaster. So this Saturday, we are taking him to Dollywood to ride the Thunderhead Wooden Coaster. The Tennessee Tornado is a great one, but he again is so little, the restraints I feel, will be not good enough for his tiny frame. So all the waiting he has done while watching his sisters ride coasters, will end this weekend. He is like me and loves the rush you get when in line for a coaster. I think he will love it. I will let you all know what his reaction was, and a photo if I can of the look on his face as we speed past the cameras. Now this is just his first official Coaster ride. He has been on kiddie coasters and rides he could measure to, but this is a big moment. And if he fairs well, we will surely make sure he travels with us to parks where he can get right on and enjoy the ride. Looks like no more sitters For him!
  9. I have to go with a hometown favorite in eating. I enjoy an $8 hot dog or sandwich at many parks, but nust say that resteraunts for home cooking has to go To Dollywood. A plate of Fried Green Tomatoes, or an affordable down home all you can eat buffet at Aunt Grannies resteraunt is not only wirth the price, but it doesnt come back to haunt you later. Everything is made from scratch, we fed 2 adults and 4 kids on $45. That is something you can do at every theme park. And no antacids needed, is even better. So For Down home southern Cooking, Its Aunt Grannies Resteraunt , Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Kings Island Cinn. Has my vote on funnel cakes though, and Dogs. They had the better flavor for the price.[/i][/b]
  10. I used to go to what used to be Silver Dollar City, and Now its Dollywood, my family and i have season passes. We live close by. The flooded mine ride was open, and in the same place for years. Why it is closed is beyond me, I may ask next week when we are there. I have rode it, and it is a dark ride in a metal type mine car through tunnels and flooded mines. I do know that the old Log Flume is no longer at Dollywood, which was a disappointment to me, but If im not mistaken, Daredevil falls took its place. If you have any general questions, I cn probbly help, I go every saturday, and have been going there since I was 7. Now I take my kids, and my 6 year old loves the Blazing Fury... Same as me when I was little.
