The Official TPR Video Thread!

This would be a great ride for Six Flags. A nice fit for any park in the chain. It will not take up too much of a foot print. And be a much needed flat ride roster boost. It would fit with the "Dare Devil Dive" name Six Flags likes to use now. -

They usually look a bit Roller Coaster Tycoon-ish with the way the transitions and drops are made. -

That's a joke right? I have seen U.S. rides posted on TPR in similar or worse condition. But I am sure they have all passed inspections. I have no idea what you're talking about. I've never seen a roller coaster in the US that has been in worse condition than some of the death traps we've ridden in China. I am basing it off of this video. The ride does not look that bad. I hear that you guys were in pain. I am not defending the Knock-offs or Chinese death traps. -

Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to donate the ride to ACE or someone who would like to save it, instead of pouring more of your own money into it by paying for a demolition permit, a company to demolish it and then haul the scrap away? How much money could you make off of 30+ year old scrap wood, nails, bolts, etc...? I understand that ACE does not have the money to buy a roller coaster, then pay for the move and reassembly or storage of it. But if the person just gives it to ACE for FREE, then ACE could spend the time to find someone to buy it or try to raise money to pay for the move, and possible rebuild if Cedar Fair does not allow it to stay were it is. They would have longer than Sept. 15th. They would have until Cedar Fair sells the land or says the ride has to go! Doesn't that make sense? -

I think you might like this web site: http://www.historicaerials.com Its a great aerial web site where you can find a location, and also compare 2 different years to see how things changed. For example: for Riverside/SFNE, you can view it in 2006, 2005, 2001, 1997, and 1971. I know that some of the aerials are not that good quality, but its better than nothing. I think it is cool to see Riverside back in 1971 to what is looks like today(2006). Others might also find it interesting to look at their favorite park or other favorite sites, say their home town just to see different parts and what it used to look like. Let me know what you think of the site. I was drawn to the site by someone on another site I go to which is a railroad fan forum site. -

Is this the same carved horse that is behind Shapiro in this video about the S:ROS transformation to Bizarro? It looks similar. Link to the video: http://www.seetheride.com/ The horse shows up at the beginning, but is also seen in slightly different angles thought the mini film. -
I think one of the best books related to roller coasters would have to be the book about Herbert Paul Schmeck called, Herbert P. Schmeck The Forgotten Legacy, by Torrence Jenkins, Jr. The book is sold buy ACE, and the link to the book is below: http://www.costore.com/ace/productenlarged.asp?ProductId=948408&CId={CB39C108-3979-430D-9CC6-A92BFCD1235A}&NC=192009181840 I am not sure if it is sold buy anyone else. The book has great information about H.P. Schmeck, and his roller coaster designs. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in wooden roller coasters, roller coaster designers, Herbert P. Schmeck himself, and roller coasters or amusement parks in general. Its a great book for the low price. If you think $19.95 is a low price for a good book.

There will be a show about Hard Rock Park today on the Science Channel. It will be on today at two different times 8pm and 11pm, and then again on the 11th and 12th. Check your local listings for channel and times. Link to the shows channel: http://science.discovery.com/tv-schedules/series.html?paid=48.15411.125355.36186.14 I have not seen the show yet, but I hope they go into a lot of details. Maybe even talk about the financial troubles and bankruptcy, but I doubt it. I think I saw Colossal Construction that was for new water park. The show was interesting, and did have some nice information, and lets the viewer see how things get built. Whats involved, problems that happen, changes that need to be made, etc...So I hope this will be a good show about Hard Rock Park.

TPRTV is a great new feature! Thank you for making this new feature, also for adding the "Download Original Video" feature. If I like the video I like to save them to my hard drive, then make a DVD full of them so I can watch them over and over when I want. This feature is what makes TPRTV much better than YouTube. Also I was just wondering why you changed the color of the TPR logo for TPRTV? The P=blue, and the R=red, but your Theme Park Review Logo is T=green, P=red, R=blue. Any reason behind this change? No big deal, but I was just wondering. Thank You Robb and Elissa for making this new feature. Keep up the good work guys.

Yes, the file is flagged so that everyone has 3 chances to download it before it will give you the "access denied" error. Please just try it again. Just curious, how many people did it actually WORK for? --Robb I started to download the file, but then I canceled it so I could download it using GetRight (just in case the internet connection go lost), but when I tried to download it using GetRight it did not allow me to. Then I just tried to redownload it the normal way, but I got the "access denied" error. Is there anyway I can redownload the file using GetRight? Sorry for bothering you. I hope you don't mind. Thanks for your time and help. Thanks again for the Free Gift.

Where do you see an on-ride picture? I did not see any in his post. Did he already take them down? Anyways, nice Pictures! As for the Yankee Cannonball: I think the orange color on the rails is different, and some what original for a woodie. The only other woodie I can think of that had a similar color scheme was Florida Hurricane @ Boardwalk and Baseball. -
The subway train cars look like LEGO vehicles. Just change the GCR to LEGO, and it would look like a LEGO looking vehicle. The cars do look nice, and they are original, but they do look LEGO like. I would rather have these subway cars, then the standard Mack Wild Mouse cars. Overall the theming looks nice. I would have liked to have seen a nicer more detailed looking building for the outside entrance. The Black building with fake glass and fake clouds painted on it does not look that good, and could have been much better.

Thanks for sharing all of the nice photos. 1. It looks like it is missing some supports. If you look at the 3rd group of pictures posted, in picture number 13. You can see in two spots on the track where I would think supports were once installed, but they did not install them here at KD. Why? Does anyone know why they are missing, or if there was ever supports put here? 2. Also I like how they kept the old Batman colors on the loop. I guess it is some kind of tribute of where it came from and what it looked like? 3. Also I think they should have change the color purple on the trains to the same shade of blue that is used on the coasters supports. -
Old Photos of Riverside Park
sixflagscoasters replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice Collection of Pictures, Maps, Brochourse, etc... wildcatroc!!!! Do you have any more? I remember going to Riverside for the first time in 1998. I wish I saved the park map and brochures from that time. I would love to see the changes. I now a few changes. For example Black Widow was there in 1998, but not in 1999. Cyclone had no track modifications in 1998 except for different trains. Scream was just a single S&S tower that was called Hellevator. Also I think they were in the process of building part of the water park that is in its present location. I think I remember parking in a dirt parking lot when the water park is today, then having to walk over the dirt lots and by the construction to the main gate. I don't think they had the parking across the street in 1998. I forget about most of the trip. Also I did not go on to many roller coasters back then. Also I did not go on any high thrills like Hellevator back in 1998. That all changed when I got Roller Coaster Tycoon in 1999. I think I went on Thunderbolt, but not Cyclone. I wish I went on Black Widow, because it was its last season. If I knew it would be taking out at the end of the year, I probably might have gone on it, but not sure. Also I wish I went on the Cyclone to try out the Morgan trains. But I did go on Cyclone in 2000 with the new PTC trains, and it still had its original layout, and no brakes. Now the ride has a shorter drop, and filled with breaks. It is now a lot slower and not as much fun as it used to be. After I got RCT, then next time I went to a park I had to ride all of the coasters and high thrills. The next time we went to Riverside was its first Six Flags New England season in 2000. Again, Thanks for sharing you stuff "wildcatroc"!!!!! -
Thanks for the info. Nice Find with the Pictures. The water where the boats are, must use part of the Conn. River that goes around the Picnic Area behind Thunderbolt. I google the Agawam Historical Association, and went to there Image museum, and saw a lot more Riverside pictures, which were nice too see. You can also see their old Monorail they had. I wonder where the old Greyhound Roller Coaster was located. The wooden roller coaster looks like an Out & Back style coaster, but its hard to tell with the few pictures of it. On the old park map you showed, the Pirates area now looks like it is where Shipwreck falls and CrackAxel Canyon is now. Also the old Frontier place with the old train and boats, might be the kiddie area now, but not sure. Again, Thanks for the pictures and information Token Yankee Guy.

Very Nice Trip Report. As for the parks train ride, I am not sure if they had one. I think they had a monorail back in the day. The park is looking good so far. I like the improvements. I thought Crime Wave was moved to its current location a few seasons ago, not just last season. Also I think the landscaping near Mind Eraser, is about getting ready for a new pathway. I think they might be opening up the RiverSide path that was originally part of the plan when they made the DC SuperHeros Adventures land. They built a DC Comics logo in the path at the beginning of the path, and you can see it through the gate that is never open. So you could always tell they had intentions of making a real public path along the river. I have contacted SFNE, and they told me if was part of the original plan, and they are not sure if they would open it. But it looks like they now might open part of it. I always thought it would be a nice walk because it travels along the river, and S:ROS, and also under Mind Eraser, and some of Batman: The Dark Knight. If you look at an aerial view of the park, you can clearly see the path starting at DC area, and then in travels along the river to Batman. Thanks For the Update Token Yankee Guy.

Do you have New POV videos for all of the Roller Coasters that you have been on during this Japan Trip? I would love to see a TPR filmed Un-Cut, Full, Station to Station POV video for Jupiter the wood coaster. Also one for Loop Screw, Splash Bandit, Standing and Loop, and White Canyon. Also newer ones for Galaxy Express 999, and Thunder Dolphin. Thanks for your time and help.
