  1. ^ Like you said, if you can regularily see the park from TV shots during the games, then it's amazing exposure for Great America. Not to mention guaranteed revenue regardless of how many people would've shown up on any given sunday. (Cheap football reference there)

I really don't see how a parking garage could possibly work for an NFL stadium though. My only experience at NFL games has been in Buffalo, where tailgating is half the attraction to going to a game. Everyone sets up their BBQ's behind their cars and drinks like mad before the game starts. This leaves the parking lots (also fields/front yards that residents charge people to park on) a mess after the games. Everyone throws their garbage on the ground, and I've also seen open bon fires set up right on the asphalt. I assumed this was pretty much the norm for most teams, can anyone give me some more insight on that?

  2. ^^^ Robb, you really hit the nail on the head when answering that question. I definitely saw some of that happening when I was on the Mid-West trip last year. We would run into some people at parks who were fellow TPR members, but it was very hard for them to gel with the groups. Meeting up for a single day on a TPR trip by far isn't the best way to really get to meet other TPR members. Like Robb said, everyone is usually broken up into groups and it can be really tough to crack into them if you're not on the official trip. Unless you know some other people that will already be there, then don't expect to just jump in and hang out with everyone for the whole day. It honestly really doesn't happen that way, and you may just be setting yourself up for a disappointment.

I plan on meeting up at Wonderland, and am fully aware that since I'm not on the official trip, I won't get to enjoy any of the perks that may (or may not) occur. I want to go simply because I know that there will be a few people there that I hung out with last year, so this is a perfect opportunity to see them again. I really wish I was going on the entire trip though...but it's really beginning to look like it won't be possible.

  3. It rained on and off throughout the whole day...which I guess you could see as being like one big long rain.

There were 2 main downpours that I can really remember though, and both of them were within 20 minutes of when I decided to try to do the rides. The first one in the morning, which eventually drove alot of us into the TGI Fridays, and then we tried to go back out after that because it looked to be clearing up, only to have it downpour all over again and drive us back to the hotel one more time.

My small group was even about to catch a cab and head down to the Sandusky Mall for awhile to kill some of the rain time. Luckily it cleared up for good while we were waiting for our cab though...which I'm pretty sure never showed up anyways, because we waited a good 30-40 minutes for it.

  4. UGH! Divv I'm incredibly jealous of your ability to travel the world and visit all these different parks. First your month long American coaster journey, and now Spain too? DAMN YOU!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the park. I still can't believe that there is that much of a difference between an inside and outside seat on Furious Bacon. How can shifting over 2 feet make a ride unbearable?

  5. ARGH! I've been dying to go on one of Royal Caribbeans new Freedom class ships, and a TPR Cruise would be AMAZING! Yet for the second time this coming year a trip that I really want to do is happening while my boss is on vacation, and therefore I have to be the boss.

I have the worst luck for timing ever.

Please sign up for this trip everyone so that there might be future TPR cruises that I can then do!

  6. A carousel is a perfect fit for Holiday World! It's the ultimate traditional park and now they have THE traditional ride! Even more family friendly attractions at a family friendly park can only make the place better. Holiday World was one of my favourite parks on the Mid-West trip. I spent an entire day at the park checking everything out, and I didn't even visit the waterpark. I can't wait to get back there again!

The youtube announcement was cool and totally unique too! It's nice having the owners of the park sit down and talk to you personally about their additions. Much better than the normal boring yet high budget events some other parks put on. I don't see too many other parks following along with this though, so you guys can continue to hold onto your unique way of marketing in the future! Will's hint of a steel coaster in years to come has me excited too!

Have I mentioned how much I loved the park yet? Yes? Well, I'll say it again then. Holiday World, you rock!

  7. ^ The All Star music resort does have a pretty cool pool area, but of the bunch that resort would be last on my list. I've only stayed at the All Star Sports (2 stays plus other return pool visits) and it would probobly be my personal top choice.

It used to be that Sports was by far the top choice out of the All Star resorts, simply because it was first to have bus pick-ups and first to be dropped off. By the time the bus made it around to Music and especially Movies there were little to no spots left. I've heard that Movies now has it's own bus, but Music still shares with Sports. If that's the case then Movies would be a good option because that hotel is newer than the other 2 All Stars and has it's own dedicated bus just like Pop Century. If this bus split is not true then I wouldn't consider anything other than Sports out of those resorts. If you want to there's nothing stopping you from walking over and using the pool at the Music resort while staying at either the Sports or Movies.

Pop Century looks pretty neat and is the newest of all the value resorts. I haven't stayed there personally, but if the slow bus situation is true then again I would pick a different resort.

    Hope that helps!

  8. ^ I'm going to have to agree with Paul on the whole CW woodie roughness factors. Minebuster used to be rougher, but now it's been smoothed out yet incredibly neutered at the same time. There is just nothing to the ride now, it's a total bore. Wild Beast needs a total re-track, or better yet tear it down and put a GCI twister in it's place! You could totally fit a great woodie into that footprint, especially if you expand out the back into some of the employee only sections.

Back to Behemoth. There is no way that a 45 minute queue will be adequate enough for this coaster. You're talking the busiest seasonal park in North America, and you're going to give the top coaster a 45 minute line? That's ridiculous. I've been on Beemers before at parks that actually know how to push through guests, and there is no way that even they could achieve the level of capacity that CW apparently thinks they'll get out of this ride.

Like I said before, I'm going to be making a mad dash for this coaster in the morning, and then likely avoiding it like the plague the rest of the day.

  9. Exactly, if that 45 minute queue length is accurate, it's by far the worst move the park has made in recent memory. Even 5 years down the road this coaster will get longer lines than that. Millenium Force, which has pretty good capacity and very capable ride-ops (something CW lacks), still pulls 1.5hr lines on peak days.

Plan on riding this thing maybe once a day during the peak summer hours. You'll have to get to the park early and join the all out sprint to Behemoth if you want an hour or less wait.

This queue should be built to hold a 1.5hr line minimum. Even at that length there would still be plenty of overflow onto the mid-way during the first few years. I can only hope that Wonderland will use some extra ropes on the mid-way, or have multiple people working the overflow line this year. If they don't line jumping is going to be a nightmare.

  10. In my first place round I had two perfect matches. One was Darien Lake and the other was Magic Kingdom.

I've finished my Quiz. You can check it out here.

There are 50 different American parks in the game. The entire Six Flags, Cedar Fair, Busch Gardens, Disney, Sea World, and Universal parks are in it, as well as alot of random independant parks. As long as it will let me I'll slowly add more parks to the game until I reach the 100 location maximum.

This should definitely up the difficulty as you can't simply memorize the locations of all the parks now.

Please let me know if you find any errors and I'll fix them as quickly as possible. Thanks!

  11. You have no idea how much Canadians love the fact that our dollar is worth more! I heard it went up to $1.10 last week. The majority of us could care less about your guns, we just envy the weather in the southern states.

Good to hear that you decided to do the trip, I can guarantee you'll absolutely love it!

  12. Honestly, the best way to make money at your age is to get a job at a manufacturing place. If you're the type of person who doesn't mind doing hard/dirty work then the pay is great, and you get consistent hours. The entry level position at my company pays $11.00 an hour, and I'm sure that you could find similar money at a company near you.

I worked the whole time I went to college, was able to not only pay for all of my schooling personally (MUCH cheaper to do in Canada than America though) but still have enough cash to split a new car with my sister and do the Mid-West trip back in August. I'm working full time now and bought my own car ('08 Eclipse!) about a month ago. I'm trying to figure out right now if I can swing the East Coast trip, or do a cheaper one and just have to meet up for awhile on that trip.

In conclusion, don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Like others have said too cut down on un-necessary expenses and give yourself a realistic budget that you can follow.
