coastercoaster5
HELLO THERE! This thread is about Dawson Park, an RCT3 park. This thread will show Dawson Park mostly through the eyes of a theme park enthusiast who's home park is Dawson. There will be many updates to the park as it continues to expand! Enjoy! Saturday April 12 Opening Day Year 4. This day will be divided into three parts. Part 1: Ahh... Opening Day at Dawson Park. This is only the park fourth season, and ive been visiting since the beginning. The park is basically one giant strip, with the entrance in the middle, and a couple of side lanes. First, i am going to head east. First ride of the day, PANDEMONIUM! I am a big fan of this kind of ride, as it gives awesome views of the park. This ride opened with the park 4 years ago. KIDventure Land. This is the parks kids area. Its not very big, at all. It only has 3 rides. Two flats, and a coaster. The kids area opened with the park. I really hope they expand this area. Its so small and clustered. On one side, there are tea cups and a spinning steam boat. The other side, is a kids coaster named Caterpillar Express. I chose to pass on it today as the line was long and I've already got the credit. The premier attraction at the park...... BANSHEE! This B&M Inverted Coaster opened during the second year of the parks operation. This Coaster is AWESOME! It has Eight Inversions! It is just pure fun! Best part of any ride at the park. The train performs a pretzel loop type thing into a misted pit under the midway. Well thats the end of part one of my opening day year 4 report. Part two coming soon! coastercoaster5
Part 2: After waiting in line for only 10 minutes, i got a front row ride on Banshee! The line would have been 2 minutes but they have been running 1 train operation on this ride for a year now! Hope they get the second train back on track before the summer season starts!I will show the POV in part three of my report. Across from Banshee is the east Station for the Skyway. The Skyway goes across the whole park to the end of the West strip. It gives some sweet views of the park. Rush Hour! This was the new coaster for last year. It replaced a neat Monkey and Orangoutang exhibit but was shut down due to the "free the animals" activists outside the park. The ride is a custom wild mouse themed to driving during Rush Hour. THe station is an office building and when you leave the office you have to survive the RUSH HOUR!(Love Saying That) Interior of the station. THe ride runs six cars very efficiently so the line moves quickly! Keep up the good work ride ops!(sorry about the Jonny Watts thing there it wouldn't go away) I chose to pass on Eagle's Flight today. Line was 40 minutes and as i passed it it was broken down. Oh how i hate the color scheme for Hit-n-run. It just doesn't work for this ride. I love the Chicago facade. Inside is the main eatery location for the park. They have the best little chicago style deep dish pizzas oh yum yum yum. This is what we all really came here for! The Chicago eatery was quite empty today, as was most of the park. HELLO THERE WEST SIDE! This years new attraction: Space Odyssey 3D 360!!! Well, i got stuck on the Skyway right here for about an hour. Really sucked considering that took a whole hour out of my day. The group in front of me was freaking out the whole time. The park would not say what went wrong but they sure took their time fixing it. Part Three coming Soon! coastercoaster5
Part 3: (sorry there will be no POV's this update my camcorder broke as i was leaving the park) Ugh. The sun is already about to set. That delay on the Skyway was really angering. Just as i thought i couldnt ever make all these rides in one hour, i hear an announcement: "The park will be open an extra hour and a half, closing at 10:30." The Scorcher doin its thang. Got 2 rides on that beast. Patriot Landing running all parachutes! This will help during the summer days as it is a very slow loading attraction. Finally, the line went down so i can finally get a ride on the all new Simulator! Simulator was awesome. It travles you through space! great addition! Love the new LED lights on the entire ship. Looks crazy! Loch Ness Monster is better than ever with lights. Well, after a few rides on Tidal Wave. It was time to go home. See you next time. JonnyRCT3
Well......it looks very RCT3-ish A flume or a new thrill ride would be great for next year. I could offer some constructive criticism & pointers, if that would be okay? Edited April 1, 2014 by JonnyRCT3

fraroc
Good start. A very, very good start. However this park could really benefit from some custom scenery, especially the coasters.

coastercoaster5
October 16 Year 4 The Park Closes for the Year on November 2nd so i decided to make one last trip to the park before i go into hibernation. As i was walking towards the entrance from the parking lot, i noticed some track! This looks like track for a Mack Water Coaster! THis means that they will have to add a water lot. I hope they make it look nice with some nice scenery and theming. It looks like it could be a pirate theme by the looks of the colors. Maybe western? Tropical? I don't know just being optimistic. rustyinpeace
A simple search on youtube brought me to a couple of videos I myself don't own a Mac but this tutorial seems to do some justice as of right now.
coastercoaster5
April 1. Guess What? Okay i will tell you! Media day for the new western town including a giant and themed mack water coaster! The park does not fully open for a week but they opened up this special area for today just for the media and enthusiast that registered! Like Me! So the media event started at 3:00. Here was the schedule. 3:20 Opening speech from park president. 3:45 Preview Ceremony for Lasso and Outlaw Falls. 4:10 Lasso opens! 4:30 Outlaw Falls opens! 6:45 Dinner in the maintenance area behind Outlaw Falls. (They set up a tent for this and the food was AMAZING. This is the food they will be serving at a new sit-down restaurant opening during the summer.) 9:00 Event ends. Oh and its amazing. Fast, big airtime hill with ejector airtime, another little hill the a HUGE splash. Wetest i have ever got on a ride EVER! The ride has an awesome scenery during the ride. After the splash, you go through a show building with lots of animatronics! Western Town! Looks neat. After the speeches and stuff, time to ride the all new Lasso! Fun ride. From the line this is the splash zone. The exiting bridge goes right over it so if you didn't get drenched durning the ride, you get drenched after! The lift hill and giant first drop. You can also see the airtime hill behind the windmill. Heading into the station. First show room. This is the pre lift section of the ride. Animatronics talked and were great. The ones with guns would shoot you with water! Up the lift! I had to put my camera away during the drop, airtime hill, and splash as it isn't waterproof. Going onto the second show room. Also on a chain lift. My favorite showroom. The lift on this is slow and the shooter at the top aiming t the bull shoots a TON of water all over you!!! part of the third showroom. This is the wild west show that will be open during the year. It was not open today as they are still setting up. Oh and its a stunt show. And yes, that is Patriot Landing testing in the background, this and Banshee were testing today. JonnyRCT3
I suggest using desert or plains type terrain textures for the western area. Also, you should try an authentic station & railing for Outlaw Falls. New area fits together well. The theming is great, especially on flume rides. coastercoaster5
May 2 Year 5 So i went to the park today and got a quick update. I had a good day except Banshee was closed all day for refurb and Outlaw Falls opened at 11:10.(park opened at 9:00) I was told that when the trains would dispatch it would cause an error and the ride would shut down. The Trampolines have been dead for a while. Never a line for it and its not the most exciting attraction. Hope they demolish it. Patriot Landing doing its thing. Families love this ride but in never builds much of a line. This is what i really came here for. The Western area is finally almost complete with this new town facade. Its REALLY nice and has some awesome detail. Only thing I'm wondering is where is that restaurant gonna go. Probably behind the show. Later that day i saw a conssturction worker next to the trampoline and Patriot Drop tower talking to the parks Treasury. Maybe discussion the coast of the demolition of one or both of these rides???? coastercoaster5
Dear visitors of Dawson Park, next year there will be a BIG new attraction! As winter is brutal here and we want to get it done by opening day, we need to start during this season. Unfortunately, the big new attraction will result in the closure of two loved rides: Patriot Landing, and the Trampolines. We know the new addition will be awesome!! What do you guys think its gonna be?
Dschu
Nice park. I think maybe a wooden roller coaster. I don't think that your park has one yet.
coastercoaster5
HEY ALL!!!! Dawson park received a drop tower in year 6. Expanded kiddie area in year 7. My computer is no more and Dawson Park went with it. Well, that was that. I just got Theme park studio so I may make a storyline park there!! Stay tuned! ferk60
I think you need to work on your story. I like your park but I want to know more about the back story. How can a park that small afford a B&M (15-25 million). Where is this park? What is the backstory? Good pictures but we need more!
