TR: Fireman's Poker Run 2006

Last weekend, my family, some friends and I participated in the 2006

Fireman's poker run. For those of you who don't know, a poker run is an all day event where you compete by boat, and drive around to several bars on the water, and at each bar you pick up a card. At the end of the day, everyone convenes on a final spot to open up your envelopes and see what type of Poker hand you have. Cash is awarded to first through fifth place, with the remaining proceeds benefiting the Livingston Parish Fire Department. It's basically an all day boating event, and the weather turned out to be good, even though we didn't win. There are usually several poker runs per summer, so hopefully I'll go on another one this year. There was another boat with some friends that was doing it with us, but at the first stop, we noticed the back of the boat was sinking. Turns out, the driver didn't turn on the blower, so water was not getting pumped back out. An hour later, they were back on the water, but not without some excitement.

Ah yes, Poker Runs are great! Sea Ray boats.... eh, not so much. But hey, if you're on the water, you're okay by me. You guys oughta try a poker run through the Bahamas in Cigarette Boats. Now that's a blast!

That's AWESOME! Reminds me of the days of doing Poker Runs through the Lake Erie islands. I miss those days.

Glad you guys enjoyed it. I didn't realize there were that many poker runs elsewhere. I can only imagine doing one in a cigarette boat, those things fly.
