thefitness Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 hey I was wondering if any RCT games were available for mac(i might be getting the new MacBook) i know there is a No limits for Mac but is it updated as constantly as for the PC version? Your help would be appriciated Thanks
kenshinmac Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Only RCT3 is available for Mac and using it on a macbook would likely not be a fun experience due to the fact that Apple put Intel graphics on the basic MacBook and MacMini. The other thing to consider is that RCT3 I don't believe is a universal binary yet so it will be running in emulation until that is available. It does seem that both the mac and pc versions of NoLimits are in sync. I do not know if it is universal or not though. The other thing to consider is that if you buy a windows license you can play the first 2 RCT titles on the new macs fairly easily. It is also possible that they will be playable on OSX when DARWINE (the mac port of WINE) is further along.
thefitness Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 thanks for taking the time to explain that all to me.I still haven't made a final decision, and that helped a lot
kenshinmac Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Honestly don't buy a laptop at all if you want to play games... Many many PC Laptops of the same price range have the same graphics capabilities. The Intel integrated graphics and many of the other low end cards have plenty of power for OS tasks and what most people do. RCT3 is quite demanding though... Also consider that with all Macs now you can boot windows if you buy a license... So to the poster above known as CoasterLover... A Mac now is a Windows machine if you want it to be... Heck the MacBook Pro runs windows better than comparable PC laptops...
Chris Benvenuto Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 BUY A WINDOWS COMPUTER!!!!! YEAH BUY A COMPUTER WHERE YOU CAN GET 15,000 VIRUSES AS WELL, RETHINK THAT BITCH! Yeah, coasterlover420, I think you're an honest to god idiot. No Offense, but the BUY A ______! is really reserved for Mac Users. and don't believe me? check the web, Google it. Hey, if you want an somewhat pricey experience, but it works, Buy Virtual PC. That's what my Mac user friends use to play PC-only games. I think Macsoft (the conversion company) is already underway with the Intel-friendly version of RCT3 for Macs and hey didn't you know you can dual load on Intel Macs? yup, you can have XP and OS X on it. It'll lag, but it works right? Take my advice or not, but good luck.
thefitness Posted June 13, 2006 Author Posted June 13, 2006 Thanks for all the helped but ive decided to get a Sony Vaio FJ series!!(the green one)
WFChris Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Hey, I have a brand new Macbook, the black one. I just got RCT3, and it was really fun! It worked great on the low resolution mode, however regardless the graphics were good and functional. That was the first time using it. Now, I cant use it at all. It 'unexpectedly quits.' I completely deleted it, reinstalled it, tried using Rosetta (option does not exist), and am now stumped. Is ANYBODY ELSE having this issue, or is there anybody with advice that can get me playing the game again? This is the first problem I have had with my computer. Which is great, by the way Please, any help would be appreciated. If you check my location, you can see how much of 'dropping by the apple store' is a pain in the ass. Thanks. Chris.
Sparebear75 Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 Have you tried any available patches. Go to www.aspyr.com and see what's available.
steel Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Thanks for asking that. I might be getting an iMac soon, and I needed to know.
