rollermonkey Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I just noticed something today. Intamin has 62 operating steel coasters around the world. B&M has 65. I always thought that since Intamin had been around longer, and B&M is generally regarded as having low turnout of coasters, that Intamin would have many, many more. Add wood, former rides, and construction projects, and Intamin is way ahead, but just current steel rides, and they are nearly even!
robbalvey Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I think you have to remember that Intamin does a LOT more than roller coasters - drop towers, dark rides, water rides, transportation systems, etc, where B&M does not. Intamin really hasn't done THAT many coasters. Think about, for the longest time they were just a "broker" and many of their early coasters were either Schwarzkopf or Giovanola. (Does that number include all their coasters too?) It probably would just seem that Intamin should have more because they have such a huge presence in many, many parks - but the majority of their attractions I would have to say are probably NOT coasters. --Robb
