goetz20 Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Well, I've been visiting family in Denver, so today, I convinced my mom to take my cousin and I to Elitch. Basically, it was an okay trip. If it wasn't for the roller coasters, there would be nothing to do. The first credit of the day was Mind Eraser. Nobody was at the park so it was a walk-on. It's an SLC (that's all you need to know). The Second was Boomerang. Walk-on. It's a Boomerang (that's all you need to know). Next, was Twister II. Walk-on. Pretty boring. I sat in the back and the only airtime was a gentle floater down the first drop. Also kinda rough. We decided to walk around some more so we skipped Half-Pipe for now. Sindwinder was next. Walk-On. IMO, the best in the park. I sat near the back and got my fair share of ejector airtime. Just a little rough. The Flying Coaster, I thought, was horrible. The layout is neat, but my neck and head got pretty banged up. Also, my cell phone creeped over between my leg and the train, so i have a little bruise there. Walk-On Now we went to Half-Pipe. One ride wait. Bad. The seat crushed my general-package, and my head was banged plenty. i had a headache for about a half-hour after that. Other than the credits, I really didn't ride anything. There isn't much to do. Overall, though, it could have been worse (like one particular visit to SFStL, but that's a different story). I rode Sindwinder and Twister II twice, but nothing changed about them. After this, I can't wait until our trip to Holiday World(expect Photo TR). If you have any suggestions to improve my TR's (this is my first) please leave them. -Andrew
Deadromanticx Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Don't they have a drop tower at Elitch? You should have ridden that!
goetz20 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 Oh, I did. I totally forgot about that. Yeah, that was the best ride there.
Rockman89 Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 It's too bad you didn't enjoy the park. While I'm not too fond of the park, there is a one thing you missed out on, Tower of Doom. Intamin just doesn't go wrong on drop rides. I really hope, too, that the roughness you felt on Halfpipe was isolated because other than the uncomfortable restraints, it's a good ride that I'd hate to see go sour already. (EDIT: You rode the tower, so you didn't miss what is one of the best ride there.) As far as TR's go that was good, but what really makes a great TR are two things, good pictures and good stories. For most of the lazy members, it is only the first part. Insert those two things, and you get your trip report saved in the next forum down. On the subject of Holiday World, have fun. I can almost guarantee that you will have a great time (atleast a better time than SFEG).
goetz20 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 Thanks, I know I will have a good time at HW. Been there five times. EDIT: There wasn't really anything notable on the day to tell a story about, except when i got off Mind Eraser, my mom was at the photo booth. She was like "Can't you ever not make a goofy face?" (I make goofy faces). I didn't even know there was an on-ride photo. i saw my picture and it was me cringing in pain. Good times.
kenshinmac Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Ok wow... I don't really know how to react to that... Personally I like the front of the train on Twister 2 and I think you actually get some better air at the front going up some hills (crazy I know but I am serious). I also find Flying Coaster not that bad. I think if you put yourself in loose and just hold on it is fine. I have never been hurting on it except when I pressed my shoulders into the pads at the top. Not my favorite ride but certainly not as bad as most make it out to be. Half-Pipe... I can't even understand that. I have only ever had one bad ride on it ever. Usually it is an absolute blast and I have never really had problems with the Intamin restraints... Vekomas sure but never Intamin ones. Maybe I just sit further back in the seat or maybe due to my height they can't push them down as much... Dunno...
goetz20 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 I don't know, but my head was getting bashed the whole time on Half-Pipe. Basically, when I sat down, I landed on the bump-thing on the seat wrong and squashed my groin.
goetz20 Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 Well, the visit to SFStL wassn't horrible, it was just the ride-ops. This one op was making fun of my friend for being fat, then he felt depressed because he already gets made fun of. Basically a huge downer for all of us.
St.LouisBOI Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Oh, that must have been pretty bad...it was probably one of those bad tempered high school workers. I'm pretty sure things have changed so far this year though. If you go again sometime, tell me how it is.
