pizza>poop
Hey all... I don't post often, but I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me with. My wife and I are going to visit my parents who recently moved to Cleveland on May 18th-20. Well, basically those are the days we can do things, and the other days we're flying. I'm wondering which of those days will be the best for getting the most of out of my visit to Cedar Point. The 18th and 19th are weekdays that the park is open from 8 am until 8 pm. The 20th the park is open until 10 pm, but the lines will undoubtably longer and the park overall more crowded. Lines make me sad, but if the lines on Saturday will be only a little bit longer, then I'd rather take the 2 hours of additional time. Give me some advice on this please. Being from LA, I've looked forward to this day for 10+ years. I was told that it's about a 2 hour drive from Cleveland to Sandusky. This this true? Also, are there any current discounts available for the park or ways of purchasing your tickets beforehand at a discount? Thanks for your help Aaron
Carnage
It should be more like an hour from Clevelan to Sandusky. Well depending on traffic and where you're coming from. I'd suggest going to Cedar Point on the weekday. The saturday will definetly have larger crowds. Actually I'm going to be in the park most likely on the 20th and 21st. That weekend is our May long weekend in Canada. So I always make a trip down, plus it's a birthday tradition for myself.
Blue0ctane
45 minutes with no traffic on a Thursday evening in August. That's my trip. If there's traffic it might take an hour.
CoasterFanatic
Even with the earlier closing time, I would DEFINATELY go on a weekday. There is a huge difference between weekday and weekend crowds in May. For discounts, try calling 1-800-Best-Fun (I think that's right) and have them ship you the Getaway Guide. It is free and has some pretty good discounts in it.
The Herbster
I requested the getaway guide to be sent to the UK (via the CP website), however they only dispatch to the US and Canada. I can print the pdf file from their site, but this excludes the coupons - which is what i'm most interested in. Any ideas on how I can get the discount vochers? - Insert witty comment here -
CoasterFanatic
have your parents call and have it sent to their house.
The Herbster
have your parents call and have it sent to their house. Interesting thought. Except that I'm British, my parents are British, and we all live in the UK. The question is how can I get the coupons in CP's getaway guide without a North American address? CoasterFanatic
^ My fault. I thought that you were the original poster. You may want to arrange for someone inside the US to request it for you and then send it to you. I would volunteer if I hadn't already received one. pizza>poop
Wow...thanks for your guy's help. I'll call tomorrow to get that guide sent to me. Are there any advertisments over the radio or bring a coke can or anything like that? I think we're going to be driving from the area of Cleveland where Case Western is at. One of the reasons I'm going on the trip is to visit their law school. Hmmm...maybe I can ask them for discount tickets? Aaron
CoasterFanatic
Typically the discounts are on Pepsi cans (CP is a Pepsi park). If they are available, you will see every gas station between the Turnpike and the park advertising them.
The Herbster
I would volunteer if I hadn't already received one. Thanks for the offer, Ted . I'll see if I can get any discounts when I arrive in Ohio in August.
