Movieguy Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I love the RCT series, and have ever since the original came out. Back then I considered myself quite good with custom tracks, building my own coasters. I've had RCT3 and the soaked expansion pack for a couple of years now, and there's so many cool things about it. But there's one thing keeping me from really enjoying it...I can't make a good custom track. In fact, I've yet to make one track where the coaster has made the full circuit without a rollback! I'm completely at a loss...the same tricks I used for the original RCT games aren't working for me anymore...can anyone give me some tips on how to make a good, element filled coaster that won't roll back and won't be too intense?...please?...
coasters 4 me Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 If you keep the first few hills lower than the lift hill, that will help. Once the coaster has made the first few hills, make the next elements lower. I find that the intensity ratings in RCT3 are really unrealistic.
Angry_Gumball Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Another helpful thing would go into the coaster settings and change the friction to low friction. This works great for importing RCT2 coasters as RCT2's physics don't quite match up with RCT3.
coasterdude5 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I've had RCT3 and the soaked expansion pack for a couple of years now, and there's so many cool things about it. How? It hasn't even been out two years yet? My advice: Go high for the first hill but not too high. I usually go at least 2 stories above the second hill for the first hill. For the intensity, it's mostly common sense. Don't put a corkscrew after a 200 foot drop. And bank as much as you possibly can. (Most coasters also allow curved drops in RCT3) As for the roll backs, start with smaller coasters and build up. And you could always have two lift hills, there's no rule against that! I hope these hints help! For the most part, practice makes perfect.
Movieguy Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 How do you change the friction settings on the coaster?...I don't see an option like that anywhere...
RJD Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Go to the place where you can set the rollercoaster to go with a full load or lower, and its on that page. I hope I helped.
Krazykral10 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 if you search around in the options ther is one to lower the friction, and then the coasters behave like they did in RCT2 and I'm sure your "old tricks" will work again.
