CP_RULES Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I dont know if this has been posted, and I did a search to make sure, but I didnt find anything. Here is what happened. While the Six Flags park chain continues its quest to improve the condition of the parks, a tragic event has occured at Six Flags over Georgia because of an equipment failure. An outside contracting firm was using a pontoon boat to paint the underside of Ninja, the park's Arrow Dynamics roller coaster, when a railing on the boat came loose and two workers found themselves in the lake below the ride. The names of both men have been withheld, but a twenty-five year old worker was pronounced dead at the scene. The worker remained submerged in the water for approximately thirty minutes before a rescue crew could pull him from the water, according to Dan Dupree, Cobb County Fire Lieutenant. The second worker was pulled from the water and only suffered minor injuries. At this point, equipment failure appears to be the cause and no action will be taken against the park. Official from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived on the scene to investigate the incident soon after. Its a horrible thing to here about, I just though you guys would like to know.
