Just looked at Theme park insider and saw the news of Universal Orlando dumping the "Free" Express Passes to all guests. Now you have to buy Universal Express Plus, or stay on site to use the Express lines!

I find this a smart move by Universal, less people using the Express lines means the standby lines won't be slowed down by it!

I don't think it will hurt them. It seemed like there were so few amounts of free express passes to begin with anyway (when I was there, all the free passes were gone by 10 a.m. except for Terminator).

Sometimes the passes weren't necessary, but came in handy. For example, my family was about to ride ET. It had a standby wait of 15 minutes, but one of the available express times was like 5 minutes away, so we essentially got the passes and got right on.

Thank God. Shrek is an example proving that Express is eeeeee-vil! And now people have even more of a reason to stay on-site. If Disney were smart, they'd follow suit.

This won't affect the park that much since they didn't use the free fast-passes anyway. When I was there a couple of months ago, I didn't see them giving out free fast-passes. It didn't that much about since I bought express passes before I entered the park both of the days that I visited IOA/USF.
