socalMAN123 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Hey everybody! Seeing that I play VMK, an online game inspired by DIsney, I wondered if any other TPR members plays too. If you could tell me your user name and when your usually on, that would be cool. Brent " I'm ococ" Shenton 8)
Wes Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Hey Brent! Awesome to hear you like the game. It's definately meant for kids around your age. I'm glad it's reaching the target demographic. I worked on it (I chose alot of the audio and sfx) so it's nice to see positive feedback.
socalMAN123 Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 ^ That's so cool Wes! I really enjoy the game. This is probably my favorite online game that I have ever played. The only thing I don't like is you can't say like Merry Christmas. You have to say Happy Christmas. Brent "oh well, the gameplay ROCKS!" Shenton 8)
Wes Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 ^ Haha, that's funny. The dictionary word filter always gets a lot of crap from people (you can't say this word, or that word), but it's sort of necessary to keep things safe for kids playing it.
coasterfreak101 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 I have played a few times. It's pretty cool! You can't type A LOT of things, though. Anything spelt incorrectly, no. Anything aside from basic stuff, nope. Or maybe it's just me Anyways, here's something: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20218 ENJOY !!! *EDIT: Man, Wes already got to the dictionary point LOL*
Wes Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Basically, the word filters works on an inclusion system. Most other games word filters use an exclusion system, meaning than if a player types in a certain word, it will recognize it and block the user from posting it. This is easy to get around though. Maybe you can't say "boobs" but you can probably type in "boooobs" or "b00bs" or any variation. In VMK, they reversed the system, so you can only type in words they CHOSE to include. Common words and such. This system is alot safer, but the negative is that non-harmful words like "merry" still get filtered out because they may not be common. It's not perfect, but it's meant to keep kids safe from bad language and as a way to block people from sending personal contact info such as email, aim names, phone numbers, etc. through the game.
socalMAN123 Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 I see why now. Thanks Wes! Do you play yourself? ---Brent 8)
