josephwanek Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I am going to the Bahamas for spring break and we will be stopping in Miami overnight. We get in Friday, March 18th at 9:40 PM. I noticed that Boomers is open on weekends until 2:00 AM. I was wondering if there is a cheap way to get there from our hotel, which is near the airport. Is there a public transportation system or anything that goes anywhere near there? Thanks! Joseph "Needs to ride a coaster to get over my off-season blues" Wanek
SharkTums Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 You'd have to take a cab... It's about 25 miles from Miami Airport to Dania Beach, Maybe if you could convince some other friends to go with you and split a cab you could afford it! Also make sure to call before you go, just in case they were closed for any reason. Really try to get there though...Dania Beach Hurricane is in my Top 10 Wooden coasters! Elissa "it's really worth it!" Alvey
josephwanek Posted March 7, 2005 Author Posted March 7, 2005 Yeah I was afraid I would have to take a cab. How much do you think it would cost to go there and back? I have a feeling it will be a lot. In that case I think I may have to just wait until another time. Damn it, I really wanted to end my dry spell! Thanks for the info Elissa.
Nemmy Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 It's a good thing I live in Boca Raton. It's about a 20 minute drive.
SharkTums Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 I would guess at least $40 each way in no traffic. When Robb and I were there we made it in about 25 minutes one way, and hit traffic and weather on the way back and it took an hour...that could ruin you! Have you contacted any car services in the area? Sometimes they can be a better deal than a taxi and charge just a flat fee. Elissa "Hopefully it will be around for awhile!" Alvey
Three Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Where are you flying in, the Miami airport or Ft. Lauderdale? Either way, you might be able to take the Tri-Rail there, or at least closer to where you need to be. For the most part, the Tri-rail runs right along I-95, which Boomers is right off of (the coaster is practically right next to the interstate). For less than 5 bucks a person (depending), you can take the rail from either airport. Might work, depending on where the stops are. *looks into the matter further* edit: the closest stations are Sheridan Street and the Ft. Lauderdale station, each about 1.5 or 2 miles away. There are buses and cabs from each. Might work, might not. *shrugs*
josephwanek Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 ^ Thanks for the info. Sadly, I think I will get in too late because the trains on the Tri-Rail don't run that late. I guess another time
Three Posted March 9, 2005 Posted March 9, 2005 Well there are always taxis and stuff like that... I've been meaning to check out the DBH for a while now. I'm at college in Miami, and I'd almost be willing to offer a ride. Unfortunately, that's my spring break too, so I'm not gonna be around :-/ Sorry man.
