Just as the title says, how do I track hack? I have the SoB and 8Cars Trainers, which do I use?

I'll tell you what I'm doing, but don't take my idea!!! I want to make a good recreation of California Screamin', it looks amazing.

The other question I have: Is there any way to make a coaster using the LIM launch type train but it won't launch straight out of the station?

I figured that I'd want that type of train, but once it gets to the launch I want to hack it into Looping Rollercoaster track.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

Right, for track merging, here's a tutorial:

http://www.geocities.com/jmanderson_2000/trainers/tutorial_rlmerge.htm

This gives you the rough guide to how to do it, but bear in mind that different copies of the game behave in different ways with the trainer.

To merge tracks on my RCT2, I have to raise the 'source' track first.

Try that tutorial and if you have problems, let me know, and I'll try and explain my method for doing it...

Right to sort out the LIM Train problem:

You could use 8cars to change the Operating Mode (Rides > Edit Ride Stats > Select ride from drop down menu > Change Operating Mode to Continuous Circuit Mode). That should work, and should prevent the train from launching from the station.

An alternative method, which would even avoid track merging is to build the layout of your coaster, using the Looping Roller Coaster track. Then go to Rides > Edit Ride Stats > Select ride from drop down menu > Change Train Type to LIM Launch Coaster.

To get the launch, you'd need to build track with the chain-lift, and then in 8cars, alter the lift hill speed to the desired launch speed.

It's all difficult to explain online-- I hope that all makes sense... but if you want, I could make a little version of the ride-- it might be easier to make sense of it?

Let me know, hope that helps tho :?

That definately helps, there's one more problem I just realized, though. When you alter the lift speed in 8cars, it is altered throughout the entire ride. But on Cali Scream, the lift is taken slowly, and the launch is quick (of course). I guess I could put a small 3-4 piece chain at the bottom of the lift. That would make it over, but is there any other way?

Nah, that's right, it does alter the lift hill speed for the whole ride; there's no way round it, not even by merging tracks, or anything.

My best advice is to do what you've said, put 3 or 4 piece chains at the start of the hill, OR what you could do is put 1 piece, then build several pieces without chains, then another with a chain and so on... that could work?

never merged tracks, but from the sound of it this is what i think...

if you just put a couple chain sections at the bottom of the lift, it would be more of a launch than a lift, considering you will actually be speeding up your train, (obviously, because it goes back to the speed you originally lauched with, before it lost its speed on all the hills.

my suggestion, (if this is possible) lauch it with the chain (or any other way you can find to do it) then, when it comes to the lift, merge it with a twister coaster, then use its lauched lift hill segment. use that every few peices and you would ascend much more slowly, like the real coaster does, then at the crest, simply go back to the looping coaster's track.

hope that makes sense, and i hope thats even possible... that way i wouldnt be wasting my time.

Thansk for all the help, especially the link. I successfully hacked (or so it looked). But then it said that Giga Coaster 1 wasn't a complete circuit. How do I fix this? I hacked B&M Hyper track onto it, and it looked fine, I hacked back at the end to giga. It just says that it isn't a complete circuit at the 1st hack at the end of the launch. Help?!?

Sorry, forgot to mention this... You need to change the 'Operating Mode' of the Giga Coaster to something that will allow an incomplete circuit.

The most obvious one is Powered Launch Mode (set it to a very low launch speed). However, this means you can only run 1 train. There are other modes that work-- I think Normal Mode is one.

Basically, just Save Game, then keep retrying the hack to see which one gives the effect you want.

There are ways to get round this problem, but it's very complicated-- you have to make (in your case, the Giga) track a complete circuit.

I have successfully track hacked the 1st time. My coaster makes it all the way around on Normal Mode, launching on Giga, completing inversions and hills on Twister track, and all using Hyper Twister Wide (Nitro) trains. When I try to hack back to Giga to connect to the station, it continues to crash! I have re-hacked 5 times, but nothing will work. HELP?!?
