ParkTrips Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 I'm just wondering what other cool extensions any of y'all have installed and whether or not you recomend them. Me personally, I have a few I have downloaded over time. My favorite is AdBlock for the simple reason that I hate popups and stupid flash ads. Going along with that I have the NoScript extension installed which kills JavaScript, the main nemesis behind popups. SessionSaver is nice sometimes but most of the time I don't really care where I last was, so it's not high on my "you need to get it" list. I'll probably end up disabling this one. Fasterfox is designed to.. well duh! It seems to work ok most of the time though it doesn't really speed up load times on a t-1 all that much. May be good for anyone who still dials in. Finally, I have fireFTP, an in-browser FTP client that works pretty well. I'd say webmasters out there should take a look into it. I do think I managed to crash it once though So, yea, enough of my uber-dork ness. What else do y'all run the Fox with and is it worth the time of your fellow TPR members to check it out?
DenDen Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 hehehe, i just uninstalled firefox. I lost ALL of my bookmarks 4 times. It has a bug that if your computer shuts down while the browser is open, you lose everything. And living in Hurricane heaven, that happens a lot. So, not worth it. I'm now using opera.

I've had that happen to me a couple of times (using Mozilla.) I was able to restore everything each time. (There's this one file you have to delete and it all works again.)
WillMontu Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 One that I like is Flashblock. Basically it replaces Flash animations with a single button. If I want to view the animation, I can just click the button. Also, let's not forget the Google Toolbar. Haven't had a single problem with it losing bookmarks, etc. It does crash from time to time though.
MonkeyPants Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Yea, if you lose your profile (is that what you're refering to?) you can restore it using the profile manager... To get it type "firefox.exe -p" in the command line (start menu-run) I've never downloaded any extensions, though I might check out that the popup blocker... Even though firefox is supposed to block them anyway, some sites (including an un-named coaster site) has somehow managed to use them anyway. I'll give it a shot.
tngdiablo Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 FootieFox for my up to date soccer scores. Great little extension for you soccer fans. All-in-one gestures. Mouse gestures for Firefox, I got used to them on MyIE2 and couldn't let go of them when I migrated to Firefox. Definitely check it out. Tabbrowser preferences. "Enhanced controls of tabbed browsing"
