Posted: Tuesday, November 19, 2013 18:25 Updated: Wednesday, November 20, 2013 Amusement Park Coming to the Brazos Valley? Additional VideoPlay Video Rollercoasters, ferris wheels, even a water park, it can all become a reality in the Brazos Valley in the near future. The Brazos Valley Amusements committee formed and has taken it upon themselves to find land, investors and rides for the park. Some families drive hours just to ride rollercoasters. As this community continues to grow families like Kierstyn Krajca's would like to see an amusement park here. She says "it would be fun for the families. There are lot of families in this area to have some of those fun amenities like an amusement park. I think that would be great." Nathan Mora couldn't agree more. That's why he is apart of the Brazos Valley Amusements Committee. He says "we have so many families that live in this area with not a whole lot to do that's family friendly in this town. This town really caters to the college students"> The committee envisions an Astroworld type set up which includes a water park. Mora says "you have your flat rides which is what your amusements rides, rollercoasters, ferris wheel, stuff like that." They've even started a Facebook group to find out what people would like to see in an amusement park. Group member, Sterling Jenkins, says "we're going to be posting ideas that we've had and people can post ideas that they've had and it will truly be a community event as to where they can tell us what they want." Right now here isn't a set location confirmed but the committee has its eyes on a spot in Grimes County. Not too far a drive for family fun. Kierstyn says "we love the rollercoasters, we love that. I like things that are appropriate for all ages so that you have something that the little kids can ride but then something that those of us that are bigger and like the big stuff can do to." The hope this amusement park will bring families from the Brazos Valley and beyond together. The committee anticipates a spring 2014 groundbreaking with the hope of a spring 2015 grand opening. Mrlittle Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Is Texas the next Dubai? Just seems like there is always a new park proposal coming out of Texas recently. I hope the best for them but it does not seem they are as organized as Grand Texas or Adventure Pointe. I could see a small theme park working well for college station area though. Who knows, maybe 2015, we will have 3 new parks to go to near Houston.
