StealthFan Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 So while away on a family trip for new year I had a bit of free time to head down to Fantasy Island in Skegness and take a look at all the work going on in the park during this closed season. Now for those of you that don't know that park is currently in administration but that isnt stopping the park one bit, there is plenty of changes going on at the park along with the usual strip down inspections that happen every year. Some of the changes the park are doing are as follows. - Re tarmacing the main car park (This has needed to be done for a LONG time!) - Re-painting of Rhombus Rocket and The Fantasy Mouse - Re-theme of the Log Flume - Vekoma have come and done some work on Odyssey - Refurbishing some of the parks toilets All of this work seems like great news for the park and I hope it means they have a great 2015! Anyway onto the part I'm sure all of you are waiting for, PHOTOS! Welcome to Fantasy Island! Here is a list of current ride restrictions. Sadly no adults on the kiddie coaster! As its January the market and main park are closed but don't worry they will re-open soon enough! One of the biggest things the park are doing this year is relaying the main car park. This is something that has needed to be done for YEARS! I am so glad this is happening. Yay for Vekoma spaghetti! This fence would have been removed to allow them to take the train off the track. I do like the common sense approach from the park that I could have walked into the ride area but didn't because I am not an idiot! This is arguably the world smoothest Vekoma! Loop-de-loop! I found cock at Fantasy Island! Here you can see some of the new paint on Rhombus Rocket. Here is Twister half way through its winter work. The new paint on Rhombus looks fantastic! The Log Flume station has been repainted as well and looks like new! Great to see so much work being done. The conveyor belt has been removed from the Log Flume as I believe it is replaced every year. Looks like there may also be more work being done on the lift. That cherry picker is a BEAST! Okay now really this is the Beast! I would sit in these seats as they are now because if the ride was running I'm pretty sure it would make me sick! Yay for bouncey bouncey ride! Even though I don't think it will be bouncing much until March! Fantasy Mouse looks pretty much the same but according to the parks Facebook they will be repainting it soon! Volcano has been repainted since I last visited. I much prefer this paint scheme! The Subway is also new to the park since I last visited! Here is Millennium's transfer track to no where. I have no idea why the ride has this as its never had a storage track that I know off. As I was leaving the park I noticed this pretty cool bus stop. More parks need to have awesome coaster bus stops! So thats it for my look at all the work going on at Fantasy Island this winter. I hope to get back to the park while its open this year as I haven't managed to do that since 2010! Will you be visiting the park this year? What do you think of all the work being done at the park? Comment below!
KarlaKoaster Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wow, amazing to see much investment going into the park despite it being in administration! I thought it would just be essential maintenance while they look for a buyer, but it really looks like they're really trying to tidy the place up.

Well from what I remember reading a while ago it does look like the administrators will be running it for one season while implementing a more stable business plan then if that looks promising they will look for a buyer after that. All these improvements I would assume are part of that process. Either way though they are great to see. Especially that car park!!!

I can only assume they were originally planning to have one but given there only is one train it's not essential.

I guess it is similar to redoing your kitchen or bathroom before you sell your house in that it makes it more attractive and valuable.
