SharkTums
In October there are a lot of Halloween Events that can make the parks very crowded. Also, some of the parks are Friday - Sunday only so you may have to go on a weekend.

Kyle Coleman
I went and looked it up for you and it looks like sfmm will be open Friday-Sunday that month except for the 14th of October which is a Monday so plan for this. Also, if you go to horror nights at universal make sure you buy front of the line or the vip package because the lines can be just insane.

Do you know why they open specifically that day? its weird if they only open friday-sunday. Do you think i`ll be able to do Disneyland and CAdventure in one day only? I did it with disneyland paris. I did all the good rides from both parks in one day and even ride like 4 times rockandroller coaster.

netdvn
If you're really looking into visiting GAdv, BGW, or CP, those parks are weekend only operation in October. Not only that, but all three of those parks are generally far apart (looking at a 6 hour drive between NYC and BGW, plus you'll have to deal with tolls and possible traffic). Google Maps says its a 7 hour drive to Cedar Point from New York. If you're gonna be in New York, you're better off checking out just Great Adventure. Those parks will most definitely be crowded for Halloween events. Fridays and Sundays are generally good for crowds.
Sir Clinksalot
You can do Knott's during the day when haunt is going on and those days are generally pretty empty.
