Movieguy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I didn't see a thread dedicated to Universal Studios Hollywood anywhere, so I thought I'd create a topic for this... My sister sent me an E-mail just now, telling me that she and her boyfriend are going to USH this coming weekend. She knows I'm the park expert of the family, and wants to know "what's awesome" about this park. Now, I've never been to this park, so I'll need some advice from those of you on here who've been there. What's currently going on at USH, aside from Transformers, that she should check out as soon as she gets there? Is there anything happening there currently that she should be made aware of? Thanks to any who can help here.
Double0Kevin Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 This one has kind of become the Official USH Thread, maybe a Mod will rename it soon. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=61215 I typically head straight to the lower lot. The rides down there tend to be the most popular (aside from The Simpsons Ride). Head straight to Transformers as it gets the longest line all day. If she is there at opening she could likely get a few rides in on each of the 3 down there before the crowds get bad. After that it's pretty easy to plan your day off of what you want to do. Shows happen often and there are some pretty good ones, like Water World and Special Effects Stage. Another thing to always keep in mind is to try to do the Tram early. They are ending the tours at 5:15pm right now, so as you get closer to that everyone heads over there to make it before it closes. The line can get crazy long starting around 3. I typically do the Tram right after lunch and it has a fairly quick line.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Well, its a very small park with only five actual rides. My advise is to get to the park at opening and go straight to Transformers, its by far the most popular ride after the Studio Tour. After Transformers, ride Mummy and Jurassic Park since your right there at them and it will save you time from having to go up and down the massive escalators that take you from the Upper and Lower lots. Once you are done with all the Lower Lot attractions head up to the Upper Lot and do the Studio Tour. The Studio Tour is the star attraction of this park and is not to be missed. After the Studio Tour, go to Simpsons. That's pretty much it for the rides at this park. Waterworld, a water stunt show, is the signature show of the park and should not be missed. The park has 3 more shows, but honestly, they are not very good. Only do them if you have time. House of Horrors is a permanent Halloween Horror Nights maze based off of Universal classic monster movies. If your Sister has the money, I would suggest buying the V.I.P experience. Its about $290 per person and it includes front of the line access to all rides and shows and a more extensive look at the Universal back lot. Also, be advised that the park is undergoing a lot of construction in the upper lot, so expect a lot of construction walls.
Movieguy Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 ^ Hey, Mr Universal speaks in my little topic! I'm honored. I linked this topic to my sister in my response. Hopefully she's reading it.
