A.J. Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Hey guys! So, in order for me to save money on my trip to the IAAPA Attractions Expo, I booked an interesting roundtrip flight. The trip down is totally cool, but the return flight is the kicker - it departs at 6:15 in the morning on Friday November 16. What would be the most reasonable way to get to Orlando International Airport? I'm staying at the Ramada Convention Center I-Drive, which is about thirteen miles or so from the airport. The way that popped into my head was to reserve an orange cab through Mears for 5:00AM. I'm thinking that leaving the hotel at 5AM would give me enough time to get to and through the terminal. But, since I don't travel often, I could be doing it completely wrong. As expensive as they are, would Mears be an okay way to go? Any suggestions?
SharkTums Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 Mears is pretty much a transport monopoly here in Orlando so there aren't many other choices. With IAAPA going on you could always ask your front desk if they have any cheaper options, but most likely just arrange a cab or car service to take you in the morning. Now for your choice of timing. This is why so many people bitch about airports and miss flights. Even if you're not checking a bag, you are not leaving yourself enough time in case of any random issues or problems. Cab shows up late, traffic or accident, long security line, etc. 4:45am is the absolute LATEST I would arrange a cab for. If you're checking a bag make sure it's much earlier than that.
A.J. Posted October 26, 2012 Author Posted October 26, 2012 Yeah, I'm totally trying to play it safe here! The trip isn't for a few more weeks, but I want to kind of have a game plan now so I don't have to scramble to do it later. I'll definitely consider an earlier cab, or maybe even the 2:30AM Shuttle. Thanks for your opinion!
jray21 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 We arrived in MCO that early recently, and the security lines were very long, and there weren't many open. Definitely get there early. I agree that 4:45 would be the absolute latest.
A.J. Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 2:30AM Shared Shuttle it is then! Thursday November 15 will officially be the longest day of my pathetic young life.
