thrillrider
We were able to swing by cedarpoint this weekend for the opening nights of there Halloweekends event. Overall, not much has changed from last year. The only new noteworthy additions were the new haunted house, and the relocated pirates outdoor haunt now located under maverick. The new haunted house called the Eden Musee, was decent, but it did not deliver compared to happy jacks. In all fairness, it was the opening night so it may get better. The other haunted houses were unchanged from last year. The cornstalkers maze, was one one the worst. It was just a bunch of corn stalks, and a few people in burlap sacks hopping out at you. The shows are the same for the most part as well. A new show called the skeleton crew does not start until the end of sept. A few other notes.... A disaster transport shuttle was sitting on the grass next to power towers exit. The graveyard is now home to tombstones for disaster, wildcat, and space spiral. Just a stump remains where space spiral used to sit. Onto the pictures....... Welcome to cedarpoint I must drink here No, that's not space spiral.....It's a light pole. Sure does look differant. I see that people are really taking advantage of the premium parking. I counted 2 cars. I took a stroll down the beach to get a few shots. It's gonna take a while to get used to this view One last look. Notice how space spiral has been totaly removed already. Club blood is the same as last year. Still a decent haunt, but could use something new. The giant is back I noticed a few signs for gatekeeper Theaming... The gearworks haunted trail durring the day. These are some of the props. I think this came from geauga lake.......anyone know? My least favorate haunt. Huge frog by maverick. It was a perfect day for coaster riding. The new haunted house by mean streak. It is housed inside of here. Hmmmm..... A piece of wildcat still remains. More theaming. Random kids show. I think ill pass corkscrew today. Last years new trail. I like this trail. Lookie what I found. Corkscrew doing it's thing. Dead rock grave yard. I like this shot of wicked twister and the clouds. More park theming from the sky ride. I can't believe how much room there is now. Troika lives on. Space spiral ramp was gone. The night before it was still up. See... Tearing up the concrete. Looks like they saved a piece of disaster transport for something. Pinks is doing very well. This is the stump that used to be space spiral Gone..... Another random kids show. The skeleton crew show will be held here. The stage looks bare now that luminocity is gone. This was disgusting.....A few weeks ago at the park, all these dead bugs were in the panda express. A few weeks later, they are still smushed on the wall.......yuck! It seems that they raise there prices for halloweekends as well. Still my favorate place in the park to eat. I love it! Iron dragon lost a guide wheel, so it was closed for a while. You can see the missing wheel in this shot. The wall in the snoopy gift shop that now hides the indoor playground. Boo hill is the kids haunted house. But for me, it will always be home to the pirat ride. There is also a hay maze in the area as well. Screamsters on there way to work. The show inside the goodtime theater (can't remember name of it) Noted.. Sorry about the dark pictures, but my battery on my camera was all but dead at this point. The new haunted house entrance. I love the classic looking sign. A nightime shot of the disaster shuttle. I love friday nights durring halloweekends...it's almost a ghost town. See.... Uggg...another dark shot. Sorry I leave you with this shot of the new lights on giant wheel.
CpBluestreakCp
I love Fridays during Halloweekends, too..just not Saturdays. But, the park is looking just as usual, can't wait to see the new Haunts. Hopefully I'll be going sometime soon, maybe to even capture some footers being poured for GateKeeper. Nice TR. thrillrider
It looked like some areas were being marked for footers already.
chemical_echo
I was there this past weekend as well. Annual tradition to rent a cabin at Lighthouse Point with a group of friends. Got there later than planned Friday (9pm) but still got on all the coasters and a few haunted houses. We had no idea PointFest was going on the Saturday when we booked the cabin so we were not expecting such heavy crowds (other years we've gone the crowds were heavy, but not this bad. We figured most would clear out for the concert, or at least the headliners, but unfortunately, most stayed in the park). I was really impressed with the new Wax Museum haunted house; especially the strobe light room; it was pretty difficult to distinguish which were props and which were real people. It was especially creepy hearing them whisper to you when you got close enough. All in all, I was happy with my only trip to CP this year. Only disappointment was not being able to make MF my last ride of the year.
thrillrider
I usually really enjoy halloweekends and I did this year, but it just seemed a little stale.
Jew
Love the use of old coaster cars!
thrillrider
Yea.... Would have been really cool if they could have somehow saved the space spiral caben for use as a halloweekends prop. Maybe have some skeletons in it or something.
