caffeine_demon
Hi, As part of my east us trip, I was planning a day in kennywood, but noticing how close it is to idlewild, and the fact that they have ALTON MOUSE and a few other nice looking rides, I thought I could try and get the morning in there as well. I will be there on 12th june, so just before school hols only problem is - no car, so the plan would be: Get the coach or train to "latrobe" in the morning, and a taxi idlewild from there (train gets in at about 8:30, coach at 10:20), and then a taxi from idlewild to kennywood (or possible a taxi round trip - but may be pricey). so - d'ya reckon they can both be done in the day? or should I just stick to kennywood - I will be there until about 10 or closing time. beatle11
Cab Fare one way between Kennywood and Idlewild is anywhere from $120 to $125 according to TaxiFareFinder.com. (http://bit.ly/HGaObA) If your old enough to rent a car, it would be doable, but otherwise just take the time to enjoy Kennywood. It's not a park that you want to rush through. Meteornotes
They can both be done in a day, but I would not recommend this unless you have a car. It's going to be very expensive and time consuming. Kennywood is also a park that you can easily spend the whole day at. Idlewild is an OK park, but I don't think it's worth making such a huge effort to get to. dt
Carnage
It's also not quite as close as it seems due to lower capacity roads in the area. Distance wise it's not far, but it's a bit of a slow drive. If you get a car it could probably be done, but you might burn more Kennywood time then you think.
caffeine_demon
Ok - thanks for the answers, I think had there been a public transport option, at least from "latrobe" about about 1-2ish I'd have given it a whirl - but the first coach back is at 5!!
