coasterlover420 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I haven't posted a coaster here in a long time! I figured why not. This is one of my most recent projects, meant to be a newer version of an Intamin Megalite with improved capacity, speed, and airtime! Let me know what you think! And also, please rate HERE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta-zuU6_xI8 Python-coasterlover420.nltrack
coastercrazy 9 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 A mega lite with an mcbr? That is definetly new! I really enjoyed this coaster!
A.J. Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 This is definitely a full-on mega COASTER. Mega-lites are standardized and really compact. Naming conventions aside, the ride was very forceful on both ends. However, I absolutely hated the jerkiness of the last hops before the brake run. Also, you could have taken some time to work on your supports. Overall, it's a good ride with a few chinks in its armor.
XYZ Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 The colors I think should improve, maybe yellow track since pythons are yellow. Also, the 180 degree turns you have can be improved as they are all the same, maybe a small bump or overbank in it.
KCForce Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) I like it. Nice design, and I have to respectfully disagree, so far all megalites have been the same layout, but who's to say some day they won't come out with a custom one? Peace. Edited December 9, 2011 by KCForce
Gerstlauer1 Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Mega-lites are standardized and really compact. Who says that? Is it something that you had confirmed by Intamin or? Coasterlover420, it's a really great coaster you have there, i really enjoyed it, the first drop was really good and the airtime was spot on! Keep doing it! - Kian Kronvang
A.J. Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) I don't want to start a debate here, but - The layout is characterized by steep hills and drops, high speed horizontal turns at or close to ground level, over-banked curves, a twisting winding ‘up & down’ middle section, air-borne S-curves, and the hilly camel backs and bunny humps towards the end of the ride. Intamin's website implies that Mega-lites are standardized. The PDF for the ride also has the same standardized layout. They also give speed, height, capacity, etc. of the ride. Honestly, whatever we consider the ride to be, it's a pretty good one. Since you made the ride in Newton and the jerky bunny hops are close to the last section, I'd go back into Newton and take care of it. Edited December 9, 2011 by A.J.
coasterlover420 Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 ^It also says giga coaster is defined by airborne s-curves, yet Millennium has none...I said it is a new design for a megalite, I did not say it was a clone. Also, I quite agree about the ending, it did seem to be lacking. However, the speed I am dealing with at that point means if I draw them out any more, they would not be very exciting. I considered the time interval between them and it's really not all that different from the hilly-s-curve sections in real megalites, just at a slower speed so that the track has to be more compact. My only other option was to simply end the ride, which wouldn't have been too much fun to me...any opinions on other possible endings?
