djw44 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Ok so I am planning out a lesson for a high school history class. I need to know a ballpark figure on how many roller coasters were built in the 1920's. Does anyone know?
cfc Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Did a quick Google, found this article: http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coasters/history/early_1900/. It estimated 1,500 to 2,000--but I have no idea if this is accurate.
simon8899 Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 You can also try seaching for "Opened" year over at RCDB Advanced Search. However I don't know how complete the database is for such long-gone times. But after riding Rutschebanan and the Gaint Dippers in California I guess those times were good coasterwise....
djw44 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Thank you guys! I know the period was prolific on anything related to amusement. I have heard of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington playing the old dance shells and dance floors at amusement parks, but I cannot find a single picture. This is my next hard task. Anyone have any leads on that? Or photos of people dancing at dance floors in back then in general?
