Hey Guys! I am planning to visit Japan with my partner in October next year and have made a reservation for the Hilton Tokyo Bay for 3 nights. Obviously Tokyo Disney Resort will be the highlight of my trip and I was wondering if 3 days is enough to sufficiently cover both parks and Ikspiari? If not, would 4 nights be better? I am thinking of adding another night at the Hilton Tokyo Bay to make it 4 days instead of 3 to spend at TDR. I know many of you guys here at TPR have in fact stayed at this hotel while in Japan so it would be great to hear some stuff about the hotel!

It really depends on how much of a "Disney dork" you are! This year, we spent 7 days at the Tokyo Disney Resort....and it still wasn't enough!

Posted

Haha I am quite the Disney Dork trust me on that! But its a pity my partner aint exactly keen on spending too many days there! I am planning to visit during the week instead of during the weekends. Would the crowds be significantly less?

^There are some dates in October that are INSANE because they allow adults to dress up for Halloween.

If you stick with week days though, and make good use of Fastpass, go early, stay late, three days should be 'ok'.

I personally would do four if it were my first time and I really liked Disney.

The Hilton Tokyo Bay is an amazing hotel, we love it, have stayed there multiple times and will stay there again. It is more convenient to the parks than the Ambassador hotel. The only negatives is that you'll miss out on a few Disney Hotel Guest only perks, but for the price savings it's probably worth it.

Great to hear! The fact that you guys enjoyed the hotel so much means I will definitely enjoy it as well! Yup I was comparing all 3 Disney Hotels and the Hilton Tokyo Bay and frankly speaking, the guest privileges, while kinda nice, were not worth me coughing up the extra pennies? The Mira Costa does look tempting though! Wonder if I should splurge on just one night there becos of the private entrance into DisneySea and bonus fast-passes? Btw I have friends who have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in Tokyo and they mentioned it was quite possibly the most lavish Disney Hotel in the world? Have you guys stayed there yet?

Elissa can correct me if I'm wrong, but with the park hopper passes you designate one park for your first day and the other park for your second day. You can not actually park hop until the 3rd day. Just something to be aware of when planning.

Hey I already knew about that, but thanks for reminding me anyway! But I was wondering if stores and restaurants inside the parks accept foreign credit or debit cards such as MasterCard or Visa because I've read that they only accept local Japanese Credit cards? If that is the case, I am going to have to bring alot more cash?

...unless you are staying at a "Disney" brand resort hotel. If you staying at either of the three Disney hotels, you can purchase a ticket that allows you to park hop on any day.

Oh cool! But I'll probably spend the first 2 days focusing on one park per day? Is the Mira Costa worth the money for maybe a night's stay or two? I would love to be able to check out Fantasmic from my own hotel room balcony! Sorry for asking so many questions because I get so excited just thinking about what we're gonna experience in TDR?

^The rooms overlooking the lagoon with a Balcony were all over $1000 a night. We 'splurged' just to get a room with a window overlooking the lagoon.

Yes, we've stayed at the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel. It was amazing, but not any better than Mira Costa, Grand Floridian, Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach, etc.

Like you said, focus on one park on Day 1, the other park on Day 2, then you have Day 3 to hop. Make sure to also watch the website as they'll announce attraction closures months in advance so you can prepare.

Goodness gracious that sure is a hefty amount to pay for just one night! In your opinion, was it worth the amount? Oh and would you know if foreign credit or debit cards are accepted in the eating places and stores inside the park? Sorry I am asking so many questions!

^I'd rather spend the extra money on merchandise!

The bigger food and merchandise locations in Disney will take credit cards, don't expect or assume they will though. Japan is very cash based and you should have plenty of cash on hand.

Ah damn and to think I am so used to using my credit cards to pay for everything haha! Really looking forward to it though! Been over 10 years since I've been to TDR and DisneySea was not even built yet back in those days!

Is there lots of awesome merchandise to purchase at TDR though? Cos if there is, I'd be sure to save up more before going there!
