GigaG Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) I went to Dorney Park recently and took some pics. Not all of them turned out good with my point-and-shoot that is bad with night shots. Here they are... Let's just say that Hydra is pretty dang awesome! They had one of those KMG-type pendulum rides that is NOT a ghetto fair ride - a rarity! After nightfall, the camera produces a good time-lapse pic with the fireworks mode. Meteor is pictured here in all of it's looping awesomeness! Another ride that apparently belongs in a carnival... As I said, my camera stinks at night, so I'll just finish this night off with a time-lapse of Wave Swinger. Another day, another ride on Hydra! By cutting through Planet Snoopy, we got to ride Hydra 3 times in the front row without a line! Here is a shot of the JoJo rool (more awesomeness) Before leaving for Thunderhawk, we take this final shot of Hydra. The train is coming out of the cobra roll, which is distorted, hence the weird bank on the track. It is the oldest coaster I've ridden, yet one of the smoothest woodies! There is some unexpected ejector air up front! Next stop - Steel Force! Steel Force was O.K., but I like Magnum better. Steel Force leaves a lot to be desired when is comes to airtime, and it can't compare to Magnum's final bunny hop stretch. The night before, I rode it, and there was this girl behind me chickening out... Our next stop is Wicked Twister - wait, I mean Possessed. Possessed is scarier than Wicked Twister due to the holding brake on the back spire. I visited an old friend - his name is Demon Drop! There was literally a shirt in the emporium saying "Demon Drop - We Recycle!". I think it is a pun on the "recycling" of Demon Drop to Dorney Park. Talon was pretty good. It was better than the sister coaster (Patriot). I would have gotten a pic coming out of the Immelmann, but someone puked on the train... Timelapse! I might post more later. Right now, what do you like about this? Edited October 28, 2011 by GigaG
Ccron10 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 They had one of those KMG-type pendulum rides that is NOT a ghetto fair ride - a rarity! That's a Chance Huss ride, not a KMG. Good photos of Meteor though.
GigaG Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 I have some more cool time-lapses- Enterprise Monster Apollo - Pic 1 Apollo 2 Apollo 3 Apollo 4 HangTime 1 Hang Time 2 Musik Express If you want any tips for time-lapse with a point-and-shoot (that doesn't really support REAL time-lapse at all), here is what I did 1.Set it to Fireworks mode 2. Wait for night (Fireworks mode lets too much light in to work in the day) 3. Set exposure time (if your camera allows it, mine does) 4. Go to ride with prominent lights. 5. Take picture when ride is moving 6. Hold the camera still until it stops exposing the lens. 7. Wait for the camera to process the pic. 8. Enjoy your new time-lapse!
Tanks4me05 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 I'm quite impressed by the quality of the Apollo shots. It's a pity that the clouds screwed over your chances of getting good lighting during the day, though. It's also nice to see that someone likes Hydra for a change. It really is a lot more fun that what most people say it is. The forces are actually pretty good throughout, and there's good air going down the first drop and the two hills between the cobra roll and the second corkscrew. And plus, the station is close to empty at night on a pretty regular basis. I mean, come on, I doubt many enthusiasts on this site would say no to an entire train to themselves on a floorless coaster at the end of the day.
coasterbill Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Any pics of the construction site? I see part of the cobra roll in your Posessed pic.

Yes, I forgot the Stinger pics. I'll post them in the near future.
