FishyFish Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I'm pretty new to this roller coaster / theme park lark (to my shame, being 36 years old!), so could someone explain the connection between Six Flags and the DC Comics theming of so many of their rides? Oh, and I saw Robb on TV here in the UK the other day! In some 1999 programme called The Greatest Thrill Rides where he was riding Viper at Magic Mountain. How's it feel to be famous?
Rooey Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I saw the show on Sky Travel's "Ticket to Ride" weekend, i wish they would get some updated shows! I meant to mention i saw Robb making some comments on The Viper at SFMM, and also in a couple of other shows Robb and Elissa were on a couple of coasters From what i saw on one of the programmes, Magic Mountain struck a deal with Warner Bros to use their characters in the park for promotional purposes etc, in the mid 70's.

That's the one - I've got a whole bunch of stuff I recorded from it sat on the Sky+ box waiting to be watched. I meant to mention i saw Robb making some comments on The Viper at SFMM, and also in a couple of other shows Robb and Elissa were on a couple of coasters. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Six Flags pays a licensing fee to Warner for use of the DC and Looney Tunes characters in all their parks. At one point Time Warner purchased the chain, and added a LOT of their licensed properties to the parks, and when they sold to Premier, the licensing stayed with Six Flags. From the last corporate report, it said they pay Warner about $3 million a year for all the name and character licensing.
Prendies Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I saw Robb and Elissa LOADS of Sky Travel this week. I saw them quite a few times in the front row of coaster at SFMM on the " Extreme Rides " and " Worlds Greatest Thrill Rides " shows.
