larrygator Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 http://www.balkans.com/open-news.php?uniquenumber=116520 Romania's capital city Bucharest will have its own amusement park, Terra Park As of this fall, Bucharest will have its own amusement park, Terra Park, just like all large capitals in Europe and the world. The park, an initial investment of 25 million Euro, will stretch on 30,000 square meters, the general manager of developer Rami-Dacia, Doina Ganoe said on Wednesday, according to Agerpres. “The people of Bucharest and tourists from outside the city will enjoy the experience of a modern amusement park, provided with latest generation equipment… Terra Park aims at attracting about 600,000 visitors in the first year, given that we expect a family to visit the park at least three times a year, in average. Of course, given the current economic conditions, we don’t expect to make a profit in the first three years after opening,” Ganoe said. The park, stretching on 30,000 square meters, will have 30 new installations to begin with, including famous ones such as the rollercoaster, big wheels, bumper-cars, carousels and others. Terra Park will also offer visitors 500 parking spaces and all specific services – food court, souvenir shop, event spaces. “The amusement park is an ongoing project. We are also planning a second stage of the project, to offer our visitors the newest facilities and new pleasant surprises,” Ganoe said, adding that these may include a hotel, a concert hall and the biggest rollercoaster in the country, reports Bucharestherald.ro.
beatle11 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 30 000 (sq meters) = 7.41316144 acres as per Google. Is expecting the average family to visit the park at least 3 times a year a bit to optimistic?
robbalvey Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 ^ I'm assuming they meant families that buy season passes?
larrygator Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Also some of the parks in European cities offer pay per ride options and a relaxing atmosphere. If the park models itself after VidamPark, Wiener Prater or Tivoli Gardens it would not be surprising if local within walking distance or a metro ride away will come to the park for the food/drinks or just as a place to chill. 7 acres might not sound that big, but I think that is the size of Luna Park at Coney Island.
